Small towns like Lordsburg have a foundation of folk keeping the lights on and things moving. I got a sense Ramona's is a community hub. Between 2023 and 2025 Ramona's moved from it's cozy previous location to the former Cranberry's Chatterbox. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon. Ramona and crew were filling up the former Kranberry's pretty well. One of our lunch choices is a Club Sandwich and salad. We ordered those here. They were just fine. Plus immense servings of iced tea. And...apple pie ala mode. It was all good. I always investigate the small town locations selling local arts and crafts. Ramona's has a corner for that. Quite a bit was sold out. I remember earrings. I do not buy earrings for the many discening women in my life. It is safer for me that way. We did find a large-print Paper! Road Atlas. Our swift journey from Phoenix to Las Cruces relit my fires of wanderlust. My fantasies of camping in remote, beautiful places. An ideaI could draw an arc from Las Cruces to L.A., exploring only that region on short, overnight journeys. Thst atlas was a wonderful tool forcstriking that arc, then carrying it onto state map pages. What a lovely flight of hopefulness, wistfulness and longing. Ramona's could do all that for you. They will fill ypu up with reasonable, sit-down cafe food, let you graze the local hand-mades, find a fun atlas, then send ypu down the road with your fantasies afire. Was it thecservice? the sandwich? the salad, pie or tea? No, I think it was just me. I enjoyed our time here.

Came in on a Tuesday at 4:30 pm and there were already a surprising number of patrons. Maybe a third full, which is more than I would expect so early. There was a large family of 14 being served before me, so that backed up the kitchen a bit. I waited about 10 minutes fory ground beef taco salad ($13). Ingredients were fresh; only complaint is that the ground beef could have used seasoning. Service was friendly and the restroom is clean. A nice rest stop!

The flies in this place were next level. There were 3 dead ones on the window sill at our table and at least 3 more trying to share our meal. The staff didn't seem concerned that we were trying to swat at them constantly. I wanted to like this place, my plate looked appetizing but the combo plate I had contained the worst tamale I've ever tried to eat. It was very dry. The booth we were shown to sit at had badly torn vinyl. There were tons of tables available but this was where they chose to seat us, in a tore up booth with dead flies. I would not consider the salad bar with all the flies in here.

After another long day of driving, a stop was made in Lordsburg and the decision to eat here was decided. Very convenient to the Hampton Inn. Friendly service and the food was very good. The warm chips with the bean dip, cheese sauce and salsa were a good start. A little kick in the cheese and salsa . I went with the pork chops with green chilies. The dish was very good. My father in law tried the liver and onions. The liver was not tender but did taste ok. His mashed potatoes and a trip to the salad bar helped. Definitely worth checking out if you are passing through the area. Support local.

Stopped on the way through town and found this charming place with a great selection on the menu. Traditional things yes but the service was friendly. The place was tidy and clean. Restrooms were VERY clean and had spotless sink faucets I didn't want to get them dirty even. Ha! Very local place all the old guys on this Thursday morning. I would recommend this place as a stop for anyone passing through Lordsburg. Yes I know, it's Lordsburg but it has an old west charm a glimpse into the past of days gone by.

Stopped here on our way to California on a recent road trip. Pretty good Mexican food and good service. I wished I had ordered something with more green chili. From the small amount I got with my combo, I can tell it's pretty good here. Good place to stop if your in the area

Do not come here! Keep driving!! This place was terrible. Chips were stale, Mac and cheese was dry and bland, the tacos were bad, rice was bland, it was all disappointing. The taco meat was just half of hamburger patty, and tasted frozen. Everything did! We sampled the green and red sauce, and the red sauce had a tangy and almost metallic after taste. The green was slightly better, but still unimpressive. We had two servers. One took our drink order, the other our food order. The one who took our drink order engaged in conversation and was kind. While the person who served us our food, an older woman was not paying attention, and acted like we were a nuisance rather than customers. The menu was made up of more American dishes than Mexican.

This little local place was a great find! We drove into Lordsburg for fireworks and stopped here for a late lunch and so glad we did! The server was so nice and patient with us out-of-towners. The ground beef tacos were absolutely amazing as was the green chile pork, and the bean dip with the chips appetizers was impressive. Plenty of parking, lots of nostalgia, and a great place to relax and just go back in time for a while. We will be back!

Stopped on a road trip to Silver City, NM. Easy to reach off freeway. Large with plenty of seating. Friendly staff. You can tell all the locals come as many on first name basis. I tried a taco combo- has chili relleno, tamale, enchilada, and taco. Tamale was horrible- dry and hard..the rest very good. Hubby tried the salad bar and was very impressed. I would recommend stopping if driving by.

Great place for some quick and delicious food as you are driving in New Mexico. Don't judge a book by its cover. Food and service are 100%! Server even provided me with the staff's stash of sriracha! thanks!!

First up was the chips and salsa. Th ere were 3 dips- cheese, salsa and bean. Frye bean and salsa were very good. The salsa was just right for my taste buds- not too spicy & just enough flavor. I had the 3 tostada special all had lettuce, tomato & cheese- bean, ground beef and guacamole. Rice was the only side dish that came with the special which was alright because I had the bean dip that came with the chips. It was way too much food for me. My beverage was my all time fav- ice cold coco-cola in a glass bottle. The Spanish rice was perfect. The portions were generous. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is nothing special. It's a former restaurant which they have yet to change out the signage. Location was clean, however did have a pesky fly buzzy around.

Well, this week work has me bringing back peeps from a Vegas trip. Our halfway point was Lordsburg, New Mexico. After a completely disturbing stay at the Days Inn a few days ago this second half of my trip was really nice. So as I always do, I checked Yelp for local Mom & Pop restaurants with decent reviews. Found Ramona's. Just so happens it was right across the street from where Im staying so I just walked over. They start you off with an order of chips and salsa. The salsa was not bad. I had read really good reviews of what I call the everything plate. They call it the #2 combo. Comes with 2 crispy beef tacos, 1 Enchilada 1 tamal and 1 chili relleno rice and beans. You get a choice of red, green or Christmas which is both red and green. I went with the red since waitress said it was a bit spicier. Crispy tacos were good. The taco shells were fried fresh. A little greasy but they had a good flavor. The chili relleno's fried breading was a bit on the bland side but nothing a little salt couldn't fix. The tamal was a bit on the tough side texture wise but was just okay not really that great. The Enchilada was good but could have had a bit more cheese inside. Rice and beans were good. All in all, I will give it 4 stars. There are a few things that could have been better but for the price I would definitely come back and have again. Revised : came back for dinner the same day. Just wa Ted something quick so I ordered the burger with cheese and bacon. Burger was just okay. Not worth taking a picture. Ordered it with onion rings. Same onion rings you would get a Whataburger but I like their O- Rings. Added a side of fried. Also just okay. I would still prefer this burger to a fast food chain because it does have that homemade vibe. But here is where I draw the line...this place is inundated with flies . I had noticed it when I came for lunch but it didn't seem that bad. But when I came back for dinner it was way worse. They definitely need to do something about the flies. Get a bug zapper or place one of those high powered fans you find in grocery stores. It really put me off and I just couldn't enjoy my meal. Had to change my rating from 4 to 3 stars because the food really is decent.

Oh my goodness! A stop here is a MUST! Best food ever. We had the chimichangas (chicken and shredded beef) and the two burrito plate with green chili. YUM! Service was fast and friendly. If you atre anywhere near Lordsburg, stop here, you'll thank me. read more

The wife and I were passing through on our way to Texas. We stopped in for dinner and were pleasantly surprised with the quaintness of the place and the wonderful service we got from the two young ladies tending to customers. The food was excellent!! Their prices were very reasonable compared to the large city prices we are used to. I will warn you, the area around this gem looks like a scene from a Mad Max movie. We highly recommend it. read more

So glad my husband and I decided to stop on in here for lunch! The staff were extremely kind, and you can tell everyone who works there takes pride in what they do. The food was amazing, some of the best fries I've had in a while. Our meals came out quickly, and were very fresh and delicious!! Highly recommend. read more

After a long day of traveling, Ramona's was just what I needed to fill my hungry belly. I have rarely tasted a green Chile sauce better than my suegra's, but today I tasted the most velvety, creamy, warm and spicy green sauce ever. My enchiladas were out of this world. If you find yourself traveling in the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. Lordsburg looks a bit deserted but it is very much alive and the local businesses need visitors. You won't be sorry if you stop in for a meal. read more

I have never given a negative review on yelp, so this is a first. We arrived at around 7. They were not overwhelmingly busy. They gave us menus and we quickly decided what we wanted. 15 minutes later, the waitress took our drink orders and brought them. They were out of guacamole, which I ordered with my food. The waitress never stopped by the table again. Another lady came by after another 45 minutes and asked if everything was okay. We said we were still waiting for the food. She said a table of 6 was about to get their food and we were next. Another 10-15 minutes, and the large table still didn't have their food. We decided not to stay as they brought the 1st 2 dishes to the large table. We still had a 2 hour drive ahead, after being on the road for 10 hours. We asked for cups to take our drinks with us, which they didn't have and charged us for, with our "waitress" saying we'll skip the tip. Will never go there again on our trips through the area. read more

I'm from San Diego, but this is probably the best Mexican food I've ever had! The green enchilada with ground beef and an egg added on top was delicious! The service was expedient and polite. The bathroom was clean (important when stopping here on a road). I highly recommend stopping here, you will not be disappointed! read more

Very very nice people/ good service. Everything tasted fresh, I got the huevos rancheros with the green salsa, which was supposed to be the milder one... Now, I have low tolerance, so take this with that in mind, I was sniiiiiiffllin', woooo! But it was perhaps the freshest salsa I've had on huevos rancheros. The chiles were chopped, not thrown in a blender. Even though it burned, it burned good. YUM! read more

we came in here with a bigger party after a funeral. called ahead, and was told they could accommodate. the blonde, looks like the main waitress, was extremely rude to the widow and kicked out family members for addressing her behavior. she then passed tables to the younger waitress' and said "she didn't have time for the $#!+," on the floor for everyone to hear. for someone that kept claiming they had been in the industry for a while, her terrible service did not reflect that. read more

This is our 2nd time eating here on our drive to Tucson. It's small with 7 tables. The food is authentic Mexican and the servings are quite large. Today's special was 3 Gorditas with beans and rice. They were filled with meat and a tad of shredded potato. They were one of the best gorditas I've eaten. They serve homemade chips and salsa. The salsa is very spicy and also homemade! A great place to eat at if you're driving through Lordsburg. read more

We were hungry as we approached Lordsburg and I searched for a good place. I remembered driving by this place before so we decided Mexican food sounded good. Boy was I right. We couldn't have chosen a better spot. It's small, which is what I expected for a small town. The staff was so friendly and we ordered right away. I had the Green Chili Beef Plate and my companion had the Cheese Enchiladas with Red Sauce. The Beans and Rice were very good. The Enchiladas were Flat and good and the Red Sauce was rich and wonderful. I would have loved a second bite but that wasn't happening. My Green Chili Beef was outstanding. Tender Beef and the Hatch Green Chili's were plentiful and so flavorful. It was by far one of the best Green Chili dishes I've had in some time. The menu isn't big which is nice, since that means they take extra care on all the food. This will be my go to spot the next time I pass through town for lunch. read more

A good little restaurant with only 7 tables. Homemade chips & accompanying salsa had just the right amount of heat. The enchiladas were good made the New Mexico way not rolled. Choice of red or green sauce. Could get onions added to the top of the enchiladas. Everyone was friendly. Seems to be a place where the locals like to eat. Would definitely eat here again if in Lordsburg. read more

F**king delicious. Seriously. I've been in Lordsburg MANY times over the last 25 years and I always ate at El Charro, it was such a bangin spot for Mexican food. But it closed permanently! Decided to try Ramona's and it's a pretty bangin replacement! 10/10 recommend! read more

We came here on a whim. It was on the way to San Diego so we stopped in for breakfast. The place is small with only 7 tables and 1 waitress. We came right after they opened and was the only party here. Our waitress was very nice and made sure our glasses were always full. They serve chips and salsa even at breakfast. The chips tasted homemade and the salsa is homemade for sure. It was really good. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs over easy and hash browns (comes with toast or tortillas, but I have bread up so I didn't eat it). I'm not sure how they season their food, but it was delicious. There was a nice crunch to the corned beef hash that paired nicely with the over easy egg once I broke it over the hash. Their hash browns are some of the best I've ever had. I will definitely stop here again whenever we pass through Lordsburg. read more

Lordsburg?..Yes Lordsburg..It was lunch time and we were headed to Tucson from Albuquerque..So we stopped in Lordsburg..Craving Mexican food we found this little cafe just off the freeway..I mean little..We were greeted upon arrival and told to sit anywhere you'd like..Considering they only had maybe five tables in the whole place and 3 or 4 there taken by locals and or family/staff..We selected a table in the front corner of the restaurant..The menu was chalk full of classic Mexican dishes but one particular dish caught my eye!..Green Chile and Meat plate!..The meat could have been pork or probably was beef but that was beside the point this dish was all about the glorious New Mexico Green Chile!!..It was cooked in and smothered over the meat with beans and rice that took a back seat to the Green Chile Whatever Meat..WOW! It was so flavorful and delicious!!..So if you happen to be in Lordsberg and you have a hunkerin' for some Mexican food and you don't have a big group than Ramona's Cafe is your place! read more

Have been wanting to eat here every time I drive through Lordsburg and finally got to today. All I can say is "why the heck did I wait so long?" Smothered burritos and Chile rellenos were outstanding. Can't speak to the red Chile sauce but the green beats anything I ever had in Santa Fe or Albuquerque. Also the service was fast and friendly. Now I might just have to move to Lordsburg!!!!!k read more

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but this place is amazing. Get the combo plate #2 you get sample of most delicious fresh Mexican food. I was amazed on the taste of real home made cooking. The prices are reasonable and amount of food they give you is wonderful. Their home made fresh salsa is to die for. I would highly recommend this restaurant. This review is coming from a guy who don't like Mexican food. Must try. read more

Meeting half way between Alamogordo and Phx.Az is the town of Lordsburg NM. If you ever feel hungry, need a break or just want great Mexican food this restaurant is worth the stop. Very small in side, yet the food fills the plates and table. Ask for anything the waitress is on top of your request. Highly recommend this little oasis in Lordsburg NM. read more

Small place, clean, easy to get to. I had chorizo and eggs with hash browns. These where small to medium portions. Chorizo had a good flavor, hash browns could have been less oily. Green Chile was very tasty, wished they would have served more. Service was ok but needs improvement. This is not a place to share a plate. read more

A great little stop in Lordsburg. The staff was friendly and accommodating, even as we rolled in a half hour before closing. The food was excellent--great red and green chile. This is a great restaurant with good staff, highly recommend it to anyone. read more

Thank you Yelpers for pointing us to this little family gem a little off the main drag. Wifey and I rolled in for a late lunch on our way east. Nice people and great food. Wifey had the Combo #1 and I had some green chili burritos. Wow! It's nice to get a good solid meal when on the road. Just park on the road. read more

Wow! I love Mexican food (original and from the states) so I feel I can speak on this topic this little place didn't disappoint. The food was AMAZING!!!! You can tell the family knows what they are doing. It all starts with fresh chips and salsa that packs a quiet punch! So good they need to start bottling and selling it. We enjoyed the combo 1 and the chimichanga plates. My husband said the tacos were the best he ever had and the shell was fresh. The chimi came with green chili beef and I ordered it enchilada style and chose both red and green sauce. The red had huge flavor but the green was my favorite. This place is a must if your rolling through town. Whether your visiting or just passing by Ramona's is worth the drive. (Good luck getting a table, we came towards closing so we lucked out. 7 tables and a lot of Togo orders.) No picture, I was so overwhelmed by the scent and taste I ate it before I thought about taking a pic. Lol read more

Even tho yelp isn't very popular in this area, I was still quite surprised to find that Ramona's wasn't given the credit it deserves. With that being said Ramona's is by far the best restaurant in town. At first it seemed skeptical, being the size of a one car garage and all, but let me assure you the food is AMAZING! I've been a couple times while on my trip and each time it was better and better; from the chips and salsa to chimichangas and even chicken fried steak you won't be disappointed. Besides being really small and the occasional long wait for a table (especially during the lunch rush hour) there isn't any flaws with Ramona's. I highly recommend to anybody passing thru town. The worst part of your visit would be deciding what to eat, Everything is great! read more

I found this place because of Yelp. We were on the road from Houston to California, and I just couldn't stand the thought of another tasteless chain restaurant for lunch. So I yelped Lordsburg NM, and found Ramona's, just off the highway. All my wishes were met - tasty food, New Mexico red chile sauce, and a home cooked meal feeling. The restaurant is small, and we got in just before the noon rush. With only 7 tables, I was grateful for our timing. I got the combo #1, smothered in red. My husband got the green chile plate with meat. Both were outstanding. If you are passing through Lordsburg, I highly recommend Ramona's - yelpers are right about this place! read more

You never know where you will find FANTASTIC FOOD!!!! We were traveling to Albuquerque and stopped in Lordsburg to eat. We did a search on MapQuest and came up with this gem. Tiny family owned cafe. .... Lots of Mexican's eating lots of food. Great green and red chile sauce! Home made chips..... WORTH going out of the way for an evening's meal! You'd never guess there would be great food in this tiny town in this tiny restaurant. I asked three different people working at the hotel where I was staying and they all quickly agreed that Ramona's is the best place to eat - they were right. Show up early to guarantee yourself seating, there's only a handful of tables in a small space, and you can park on shoulder of the road outside. read more

Nice service. Restaurant is crowded, waitress is busy but very nice. The food is great. Comparable outstanding in this small town with other few restaurants. I'm surprised at the food quality as a visitor coming here for engineering project. read more
