This is a must stop for us when passing through Deming! Nothing fancy, but perfect, classic New Mexican food. My husband usually gets the Green Chile plate and I go for a combo Red Chile plate. The stuffed sopapillas are a great item, don't sleep on the tacos either. Meals start with chips and salsa and sopapillas and honey at the end of your meal. We usually order from Irma's but unfortunately they were not open today. The bad customer experience started when I called to place the order. We had never eaten here so I had to ask how to order what we wanted. The woman taking the order was very impatient with me. The chips were really hard, the guacamole was brown like it sat out for several hours on the counter, the lettuce and tomato were super soggy. Seems to be to go to place after church. I arrived about 11:45 AM on a Sunday and there was plenty of available tables. By 12:15 the place was packed with families who all seemed to know each other. Based on our previous experience we stopped in here again. We ordered the same items, #3 combination plate and the #6 chili rellanos plate. This time the wife was very disappointed in her rellenos. Different cook? My combination plate was good overall but the refried beans were simply not good. The wife said the same thing. The texture and taste was off and the beans seemed undercooked. My red chili sauce was hot as it should be. Hopefully this was just a bad day. On a positive note, their prices are certainly fair. (Tucson's and most AZ restaurants should take note.) read more

The small and simple order of three tostadas was perfect in quantity and quality. Neither of us wanted a large meal before heading out to Tucson. Ground beef tostadas with guacamole, lettuce, and tomato hit the spot with flavor. The bean tostada with lettuce, tomato and sour cream were also good. Service was good. Promptly asked for our drink choices. Our favorite Coke-Cola in a glass bottle. Ambiance was basic diner chairs and tables which was too bad because the floor and wall decor were really nice. The Mexican influence tile was a nice decor piece. The long dining area was big and quite a few people dining. A lot looked like locals. Food was typical New Mexican menu and the decor was definitely lacking so if you are looking for something more adventurous or cute this isn't the place. It was very good though which is part of the reason it was so busy.The other part is that they were open on a Monday for lunch for which we were grateful, because many Deming restaurants were closed and we didn't want to get fast food. After a long day on the road driving west to AZ, my wife and I stopped in Deming, NM to spend the night. While checking in at our hotel, we asked the front desk person for their recommendations for dinner. They suggested Irma's (Mexican) or Marie's (Italian)...we were going to try out Irma's until we checked out Yelp and Si Senor received 4.5 stars...so off to Si Senor we went. Located off the main drag, the place had ample parking in the back of the building. The exterior belied its roomy interior. We were told to seat ourselves and we're looking at the menu soon thereafter. My wife knew she wanted to order carnitas so that was easy but I asked our server for her recommendations and I ordered the Si Senor Special (skirt steak with 2 enchiladas and refried beans). The chips and salsa were good although we would've preferred the chips warmed up. Upon sitting down, we were joined by unwelcome guests...flies. When our food was served, we had one eye on our food and another on possible flies landing on our food and drinks. Throughout dinner, we were engaged in swatting the pesky pests away from our food! My dish was decent...the steak was tender enough and the enchiladas had good flavors. My wife's carnitas were a disappointment. Lacking flavor and that char, she had to mix the meat with the guacamole, pico, refried beans and rice to add some flavor to the meat. The warm sopaipillas with honey at the end of our meal was a nice touch...but the flavorless carnitas and the flies were lasting memories for us. Si Señor is my favorite restaurant in Las Cruces, so I had high expectations for the Deming location. I'm not sure if they have the same owners or not, but I'm guessing it's a no. I'd drive the extra hour to Las Cruces before visiting again. Our server took long, have zero updates, no refills, and when we asked for another food item (side of beans), it didn't come until we paid to leave. The food tasted good, however the portions were small and it took long, despite there not being a crowd. The restroom was also really dirty with feces allover the one toilet they had. read more

There is something about New Mexican food that we crave and leaves us satisfied every time. Si Senor did just that! I got the red chili plate and my husband got the chili relleno. The beef on the red chili plate was flavorful and melt in your mouth tender with the red sauce having a bit of a kick. The chili relleno was great with the beautiful chili flavor in each bite, filled with cheese, and breaded and crispy to perfection. Even the salsa that was served with the chips was great! And for a pleasant surprise at the end of our meal, sopaipillas showed up that were fluffy and light, pillowy delights and then drizzle with honey! Yeah, I would have loved to take a dozen to go! Si Señor is a little Mexican restaurant in an old retail strip along Deming's main drag. The outside of the building was reminiscent of the Old West, with peeling wooden letters and half-barrels that made for some cool black & white photography. The interior of the restaurant was pretty plain. Non-descript tables and metal-railed chairs, white walls and scattered decor. The restrooms were kind of weird, because they were small water closets with the sink outside of the door, opening right to the seating area. Consequently, our table was next to the ladies' room sink and where supplies were stacked. Different. Let's hope that no one needs to "see a man about a horse" while we're seated there! Our waitress was wonderful. She was kind and attentive. Our meals came out quickly, and were a perfect temperature. We didn't take too much time looking at the menu. We were, of course, having chile relleno in New Mexico! The chile were fresh and flavorful...not too hot. There was a mixture of cheese that made it gooey and delicious. Mr. P enjoyed the rice. The beans were homemade, with not just a pureé, but with whole beans as well. Just when we thought the meal was over, a beautiful basket of hot, fluffy sopapillas appeared, complete with a squeeze bottle of warm honey sauce. Be still my heart! The confection was amazing, and melted in your (my) mouth. So pure and simple, yet such a tantalizing delicacy. We were on our way to CA from El Paso, TX and decided to look up a decent place to sit and eat. Most places in the general vicinity close at 1 pm. (Don't ask me why) So I asked a local at a red light and he recommended this place. This place closes at 2 pm so we had some time. We took our seat at a table and right away saw that we were in an open carry state. (Tbh that made me feel safe) The waitress came by with complimentary chips and asked us what we'd like to drink. The salsa was very mild so we asked for something spicier and she brought us a green salsa which was just as mild. And also sour cream and jalapeño which was spicy and tasty. She took our order and the food came out fairly quick. She was good about asking us about refills on our beverages. My meal was the combination plate #3. The enchilada and red meat were bright red. Very appealing to the eye. The red meat was not spicy and didn't taste bad but it wasn't impressive either. The waitress said the sopapilla was a popular menu item so I went with that. I was not impressed by the taste. My son had the NY strip combo plate. He asked for medium on the meat but it came out well done and tasted very rubbery. My husband had the tamale combo plate and he didn't think the tamale was good. The masa had no flavor. The service was great. The people working there are very nice and hospitable. The ambiance is very family friendly. Not everyone has the same taste buds, but I probably wouldn't go there again. I would recommend you give it a try and see what you think. read more

Since I've moved to Phoenix from Austin, TX I've visited this place 3 times on my drive to my home town El Paso. My husband and step son enjoyed their food-tacos, quesadilla and myself I always get a bean burrito. The sopaipillas are delicious. Husband asked if was going to stop on my way back to Phoenix. He requested carna asada burrito. Purchased shredded beef as well and bean burrito. I told the girl I was traveling so if she can put all sauces on the side so it doesn't get soggy, in which she did. Handed me my bag along with chips and salsa. On the road I started to get hungry and reached for some chips and noticed an extra bag I looked in and the girl who took my order put in two sopapillas.
