Bowl of Chili ( sorry had a couple bites before the picture )
    Andy G.

Hello Everyone, this past weekend Jen & I had to travel to Cliff New Mexico for a funeral service, we stayed in Silver City New Mexico for the night then onto Cliff the next morning, it was dinner time so asked around for a good Mexican Restaurant and Jalisco Cafe was highly recommended so off we went in 34 degree weather and I was in shorts burr. The restaurant was very nice it was one of the older buildings back in the day now a Restaurant, we had to wait for about 30-45min as the place was packed so that tells me that's a good sign, we got seated and order our dinner I had the Bowl of Chili with Beans and have to say it was Delicious ( a bit spicy) Jen had the three Tostada Plate, bean & cheese, shredded beef, and a Guacamole Tostada all very good, oh, you'll have to have the Chips & Salsa very good as well. The staff was very friendly and answered any questions you had re-guarding the menu. Ambience of the place was good and the place is rather large just a popular & busy place for some good Mexican Food so if you're looking for a place to eat and want Mexican Food need to try this place out, hopefully you'll be happy & satisfied as we were.

On the plus side, the decorations inside were giving very much authentic Mexican/Spaniard with the handmade benches and decor. Very nice staff inside, lots of food options, and enjoyable Spanish music. For the cons: The food was not up to my expectations. I got the two burrito bowl which came with rice and refried beans. The burritos looked like stuffed rolled tacos. They had no flavor and neither did the beans and rice. It was very dry and hard to consume. The guacamole was one of the best I've tasted, however. There were no salsas given to make it spicy and no condiments. I will not be returning.

Wow! I finally found a really great place in Silver City to eat. As with all good places, be prepared to wait. We came in at 5pm and still had to wait 30-40 minutes. But it was worth it! Service here matches the food, which is excellent. I got the beef platter that had an enchilada with an egg on top (I got sunny side up) 2 tacos, and a chili rellano. It also had rice and beans. It was a huge plate of delicious food. It came out hot and cooked perfect. For dessert or a side you get a yummy Sopadilla with honey. Amazing place to eat in downtown Silver City.

The guacamole tostada has PERMANENTLY CHANGED MY LIFE. So yum. The sopapillas were the star of the meal, though! My family LOVED how massive they are. The restaurant is large and beautifully decorated, the ambience is so cozy and nice. We even enjoyed waiting outside for our table because the weather was so nice and there was a good set of steps outside we could sit on while we waited. The ground beef was fine, but the rice and beans and salsa were all deliciously flavorful!

Tex Mex food ! Good but 3 taquitos for 12$ bucks . I was expecting bigger taquitos but they were small. Great service. Very nice decoration.

Great food! Fun vibe. Consistent flavors and the best salsa in town! We'll be back every time we want to treat ourselves.

Best Tacos, Enchiladas, and Rellenos in Silver City. That's why they're always so crowded!

There's a small u shaped bar seating and larger dining areas on either side . I noticed a couple of ribbons on the counter and he mentioned his salsa , red chili snd BBQ has won local awards . He brought out a complimentary basket of chips and green Hatch chili salsa to start . Oh boy! This was the best salsa! Tasty with a kick but not too spicy . My daughter scooped up every last bit. He suggested the special burrito. ($13?) I took his advise and got it . It was humongous! Definitely enough to share . My daughter wanted the salmon dinner which was standard fare so, she helped me eat my burrito instead . My burrito was way better . It had everything but the kitchen sink in it . Sooo good . Even though we ate until we were full , we still had 1/2 a burrito left! (Ate the rest for breakfast the next day !) Glad we found this gem driving through on our road trip. * The owners Hatch chili salsa should be sold in jars !

A chile rellano, cheese enchilada and crispy beef taco. Everything was delicious. Ordered Christmas on the side and ate both the red and green! Hubby had 3 crispy beef tacos and loved them. You also get rice, refried beans and small salad. The platters are huge. John was our waiter and he was efficient, friendly and professional. Laughed at our jokes. Haha. Our server was incredibly sweet and made sure to check on us in a timely matter. We were brought chips and salsa to start and the chips were nice and warm. The salsa wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. We ended up getting the Grilled Chicken Quesadillas appetizer and a Sopaipilla. The quesadillas came with way more food than we expected and they were cooked nicely, but a bit bland. The lettuce was also very wilted and old. The sopaipilla was huge! We were surprised it wasn't crispier, but it was still super tasty! I would definitely get that again. Besides the sopaipilla, it seems like a pretty average food place. I would come again, but it's not a must for me.

My one suggestion, the green chili sauce could be a bit thicker and spicier with more green chili, I mean T or C is what 30 or so north of Hatch? I got mine with diced onions, next time without definitely. The beans and rice were excellent as well. Small, busy location so it's a bit noisy to have a conversation. The staffing was excellent. The owner is a gem. She even pulled/sold me an apron off the wall i admired. T or C is fortunate to have such an excellent restaurant.

I have…read morenever heard so many bizarre reasons as to why a dog cannot even be on the premises; first one was because of a "code," second one was because there is a bad dog next door that might hurt or kill my dog and the third one was their liability insurance. Not sure if I believed any of those reasons but I ordered food to go because of the Yelp. After looking into the New Mexico restaurant liability insurance explanation, I now know that this place just flat out doesn't like dogs anywhere. I feel like "dog friendly" should be another option on Yelp since so many people now travel with their pets. I should have left because it was very hot and windy and the owners were extremely rude but, against my husbands wishes, I ordered to go based on the food reviews and also based on nostalgia (because the location was the exact location for great Mexican food in the 1980's. Now to the food: I ordered the large combo. It was good but not the best New Mexico Mexican food. The cheese enchiladas were okay. The taco was not crispy, probably because it was squeezed into a styrofoam container, and was made with hamburger meat. I was hoping for shredded beef. Oh well. The chile relleno was good, not the best. Overall, the food was good but I've had better. The green chile sauce was better than good. I honestly think that if we had been allowed to dine outdoors on the premises, the food would have been served on a bigger plate and I would have been able to distinguish what I was eating better. Would I eat here again...that's a big fat nope. Nor would they want me to, probably. The owner(s) were rude. The food was mediocre at best. I loved raising my girls and living in T or C back in the 80's, but I will never stop there again to eat because the people at Tony's.
