It might not be typical to need a glass repair shop on the fly, but I have been putting off repairing a cracked window in my laundry room for about a year (I know)! The places I call would tell me it would possibly be a day or two before I could get my window back and that always threw me off. With J Glass, I called, they said to bring it in and I could have it back within a few hours. Brought it in, got it fixed and it was back on my house within a few hours. Granted this was a simple job but they handled it with speed and efficiency. I will be back for any other window repairs that are needed. I did remove one star due to lack of parking but it is a busy street where parking is a premium. I parked two stores down when I picked it up so it wasn't a deal breaker. read more

I needed 2 window screens. I went to Ace Hardware and they said it would cost 45.99 for 2 screens and would take 5 to 8 days! Goodness I needed these screens asap. So I ordered them on a Wed. Then fam n friends recommended I call J Glass. I did and Vero answered. She said she could have what I needed the next day. I went to Ace ,got my refund, and I got my screens the next morning. I've been going to J Glass for years now to repair window screens and broken windows. They're fast and affordable and trustworthy. Screens are replaced on the spot and the costs are very modest. I recently needed to replace a double pane window that was 30x16 with E-glass. I just went to J Glass, they measured it and ordered it up. They called me 2 days later to let me know it came in. I brought my broken one in and voila..Done in 10 minutes. This place is open M-Sat so it's convenient. They sell shower doors and closet doors too. Highly recommend. read more

At first, I was hesitant in calling JGlass due to the specialty nature of the window design and the fact they appeared to be a "small local glass shop". I called around to get estimates to repair a large (48"x46") dual-pane "Low-E" glass with argon gas and was quoted prices 20% - 160% higher than JGlass. I was surprised by the variation in quotes I was receiving and uncertain if JGlass could complete the repair due to my "perception" of the nature of the repair. Veronica was very thorough in explaining the glass repair process and that it had to be custom ordered from the factory. Veronica indicated that it would take 2-3 days to get from the factory and they could schedule the install upon receipt from the factory. The timing was consistent with other installers estimates as well. To my surprise, one and a half days later, Veronica called to see if they could schedule for that afternoon. The installers did a thorough job removing the existing broken glass, installing the new window and cleaning up the job site. Needless to say I was very satisfied with the quick turnaround, professional installation and fair price. Don't let the appearance of small local, family-owned shop fool you... they're true professionals and I highly recommend them. read more

It was midnight in the howling forest known as East L.A. The sound of banda music whistled through the tops of the ancient street signs echoing from the lame party two doors down, when I started hearing some arguing outside of my home and suddenly something enormous crashed and rumbled through my living room. God damn it, some moron just put his fist through my window and now shards of glass lay on the floor. I was left wondering if he was a nutcase? I mean, what kind of moron decides, in a moment of anger, while in a drunken stupor, that pounding on a glass window with your fist could be a good idea? Son-bitch! I wished they wouldn't have run away. Then I wouldn't have any reason why not to give them a good punch in the nose. Ugh, It was as if I just went through the desert of shattered hopes and I was seriously feeling like I was stuck in the swamps of sadness. More so after the cops showed up and didn't bother to be of any use at all. In fact, they were pushing for me to not even make a police report so the crime stats of the area wouldn't go up on their patrol. I guess I could rule out dealing with cops as being my scientific specialty... But I knew if I let sadness take me, I would just sink more into that mucky swamp. So having the officers leave me high and dry, I was on a mission to find a good place At this point I just didn't care where I went. I needed a new glass... In fact, I didn't even care if I cared or not about yelp reviews or reputation. Whatever could get me a replacement the soonest was all that I needed. Which led me to a nearby place that looked as legit as a van with "free candy" written on the side of it. From the outside, this place didn't even look like a hole in the wall. Next door was a radiator joint and near it was a breakfast burrito joint -- which I guess was a good sign that I wasn't going to be spending much on this venture. I just had to be confident in their work and confident in that I got the proper measurement Sure enough, the workers here, while not the most professional looking, were damn good at helping me out. One suggested that it would be a good idea to get some thicker plate glass, and perhaps getting a plexiglass to reinforce it. No, it was a great idea! I thought it would take a snail's pace to get a custom window made, but this must have been some kind of racing snail, as only after couple of days of having Nothing but a board covering the hole, It was ready, even with the odd dimensions of the front window and it didn't cost all that much. I couldn't complain. All that was left was plopping that sucker back into the window frame, which wasn't much of a problem, I just had to keep my feet on the ground and take it one step at a time. read more

Called to get a quote on 2 screen sliding doors was quoted $145 for each door so agreed to have them come to my house to start installation. Once they arrived they quoted me $100 more for each screen door, I told them I was given a less different price, they call the office and spoke with Veronica and told me that No, that I was told $245 each. This was not true, they didn't bother trying working with, much less recognizing any wrong doing. Please get a written estimate when dealing with them. Be safe out there! read more
