This review is totally dependent on your seating. The room is a long rectangle. If you are seated in front of the stage (about 1/3 of the room), you will have a great view of the show. If you are in the other 2/3 of the room, you -- like us -- may never even see the performers. My wife went to the ladies room about an hour into the show and came back all excited saying about the band, "They're really here! I just saw them!" The food is great and the service is good, but the seating is a total ripoff for 2/3 of the audience. If you can't get seats in front of the stage, don't go! read more

A staple in downtown Annapolis with a great micro-brewed beer as well. I'm not really a fan of bar food, but their menu is really diverse and portions are pretty huge. An app each and an order of their awesome nachos will feed a group for sure. It's certainly a must-stop for any bar crawl with one of the best patios on West St. and don't forget about the super dark basement if you want a little more privacy. Rams head always has great music acts. I love that you can interact up close and personal with the performers. But it's soo cramped and uncomfortable. It seems that they shoved the maximum about of tables and chairs and possible into this place. The food is average at it's best. The drinks are usually very overpriced. I usually have dinner before somewhere better and come to Rams Head for the shows. read more

From out of town, visiting Annapolis and saw the Rolling Stones Review on 9/28/16 Great show! Enjoyed the music and show. However, the service was a different experience. Our waitress, Meagen D., was forgetful and not attentive to us. Ordered their special salmon salad and Lemonade cocktail and it took over an hour before it was served, which included a friendly reminder 45 mins into the wait. Once our food and drinks were served, Meagen, did not check on us throughout the evening for refills on our drinks within the 3 hours of the show. Will continue to see shows there but very reluctant to order a cocktail or food there. Water will be fine since it can be served in pitcher. If the wait staff continues to provide poor service, I know I can ask for a pitcher of water while I'm being seated by the hostess. read more

We saw Ani Difranco 3 times at Rams Head Live last year among other shows I attended with my friends. At one show, we sat directly in front of Ani! We always have a wonderful time! It is such a relaxing place to see a show compared to other venues. The service was good. I haven't eaten there and we always drink beer and wine so I cannot comment on the quality of those items. read more

Everybody already knows this a great place to see a live act. I'm writing a review simply because the food impressed me (and food at these types of places is usually a second thought). We saw the Seldom Scene here recently and ordered the roasted red pepper humus with fresh veggies and pita. The humus was outstanding (a great big portion too) and the veggies super fresh. A very pleasant surprise. The one order was more than enough for two to share for a light snack during the show. I do wish they had a more affordable beer pitcher option but since all of their beers are craft brews that's the way that goes. read more

This is about the sound system which simply didn't hold up with Johnny Winter's high velocity, high energy program. The bass literally collapsed into a muddy chaotic nuisance of a sound making it very hard to discern any subtlety to the music. Other than that I love the Ramshead. read more

Excellent modern tavern setting. Outdoor patio (with heaters) is a great place to hangout with a group of friends. Indoor seating is quiet in the dining room. Can find an energetic bar on the weekends and happy hour. The local brews there are excellent. read more

For anyone who doubts the versatility and originality of this incredible venue on Wednesday October 17th the amazing North African Touareg band Tinariwen will be performing. they are musicians with a rare and compelling mix of traditional desert lyrics, rhythm and melody similar to Algerian and Moroccan music. Tinariwen sing and play of protest, peace, rebellion, fire, rain, and the wandering of their desert people. While they spin folk tales old and new and sing of ritual, celebration and hope for their land in the future they still are able to fuse traditional and modern North African music into an amazing eclectic mix.They seldom tour America and this performance will be a must for all those who love to cross cultural musical lines. Show was fantastic. Saw 'Familar Faces' Sat Jan 17th. Intimate setting, great sounds. The food service was VERY bad. Arrived at 7:45, doors open at 7:30 for an 8:30 show. Order was not taken till 8:30!! after SEVERAL requests for waiter. Fans of 'Average White Band' appearing in April. Will catch the band at the Birchmere instead. read more

This venue is a great place to see shows because it's so intimate. The room admittedly has a bit of a hotel conference room vibe. Somewhat generic paintings of jazz musicians are painted on the wall and the chairs are packed in around tables. It doesn't have much character but the stage is so close that it's easy to feel very much a part of the concert. read more

Just caught Los Lobos here the other night, I've been back several times in recent years (for Ryan Bingham, Cracker, etc.). I drive 65 miles each way, that ought to say something! These folks do a good business, in a premier location. After multiple visits, I've finally learned to buy seats back near the sound-board. The sound-board area is surrounded by brass rails, and it's slightly less-loud. Obviously, front tix would be nice, but I swear they've got season-pass holders or something.. They're never available! I've been off on the far-right wall, literally behind the performers (just to the left of the stage), etc. If you're seated in front, or near the sound-board, you're in for an intimate, great show. Anything else can be frustrating. The staff is quick and attentive, and will bring food and drink to your table. There's a parking garage within short walking distance (just $3 at night), you can cut between the buildings to save a walk-around. read more

I've been attending shows here for years. The Owners have ruined the Show area by jamming as many tables and chairs as legally possible. It's no longer an intimate venue. That is if you like sitting in cramped spaces. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. read more

This was my first visit to Ram's Head On Stage, which is a dinner-theater (supper club) type venue next door (and attached) to Ram's Head Tavern. We parked about a block away in a pay lot and had lunch at the Tavern before the show, which has a cozy brew-pub feel to it, but the food was only so-so. The venue itself holds about 300 people all seated at 2 to 6 top tables. There is food and beverage waiter service at the tables. The stage is large for the space and projects into the room so that 2 sides face the audience - the tables are configured in an "L" shape around it. I recommend getting tickets facing the long side of the stage, even if you are several rows back, because they set up the performers to face the long side and the performers don't always remember the people facing the short side of the stage. The decor and bathrooms are both nice - this is the kind of place a grown-up crowd would especially appreciate. Acoustics are really good, and the sound was level was comfortable. The ceiling is lower than I would prefer, but not unusually so. read more

I've been here twice and have enjoyed it immensely. Although there are large pillars that can obstruct your view depending on where you sit, for the most part, it is an amazing venue. It's probably one of the most intimate concert venues you are going to find. I love that there is a restaurant/tavern attached to the venue that you can go to and enjoy a meal prior to the show. Even when I had something rather gross in my food, the venue was very apologetic and picked up a portion of the tab. We even got a free dessert out of the ordeal. I am not holding that against them as the food is usually very good and clean. Accidents happen sometimes! Again, as a performance venue, this place is top notch. The acoustics are great, you feel close to the artist, and the drinks service during the show is good. I am looking forward to going back someday as it has already been far too long since my last visit! read more

I have been living and walking to the Rams Head On Stage for 3 years. I used to think it was the 2nd best reason to live here (besides the Naval Academy). And I have told that to many visitors and friends. I've gone to about 10 - 15 concerts a year and always used the will call system. Because I live within walking distance I don't carry a purse, just money in my pocket. This past Sat. a girl working at the window refused us our tickets because we didn't have ID's. We asked to see the manager. She walked away and said a flippant remark "you'll be sorry." Meanwhile, while waiting for the mng. to show, we witnessed another will-call pickup for 80 tickets with not having to show an ID. When the mng. arrived he refused to give us the will call tickets w/o an ID (even though I never had to show one in 3 years). My husband was forced to walk home in the cold. After I tried to explain that we never had to show ID before, and that I was a good client -- he still wouldn't budge -- and became extremely defensive to his policies. He also said that he sells 1000 tickets a week (meaning my 2 didn't mean anything to him in the big picture. Our argument escalated while my husband was gone to the point of me calling the GM a jack* and the GM telling the lobby of patrons that I was banned from going in to the concert. I tried to tell this mng. that I understood his policies, but since we were trained by his own employees that we did not have to show ID's in the past....we should not tonight. Still he was fixated on his policies, treated me with contempt and disrespect, and humiliated me in front of his employees and customers. A simple: You need to bring your ID to pick up tickets next time, but go in tonight -- would have prevented all this. Somehow when my husband showed up with his passport, we were allowed in the concert -- but it was ruined for me by this showdown in the lobby. I have worked as a waitress, as a hotel desk clerk and travel agent -- all in hospitality. I have been trained that the customer is always right. I would never treat repeat customers that way this man did to me. I live in a large condo complex in Annapolis and the trickle down effect of what his did will be played out in spades when someone asks my opinion of where is a good place to go for a drink or entertainment. read more

I thought the ticket prices were high, and can't believe they charged to print out your own ticket (that's a racket). I agree with an earlier review that said the service was bad. UPDATE: I received a call from the General Manager of Ram's Head in response to my review below. He could not have been nicer or more understanding and I appreciated the call. One word to the wise- -managers at the club are definitely instructed to apply the 21+ policy across the board without exceptions. The General Manager did assure me, however, that he would speak to this manager about how she handled our situation and that the club would seek to be more sensitive in how they handle them in the future. In all, I believe the club was very responsive to my complaint and I will certainly consider attending shows there in the future. - - - - - - - - - Will get two things out of the way. First, this is a lovely and intimate venue and, once admitted, I have found that the concert experience, including service, etc., can be wonderful. Second, what happened to me happened because I screwed up - - I bought four tickets for a show last night late last year and, due to a change in plans, arrived at the venue with my under-age (15) year old son in violation of the venue's 21+ policy for evening shows. My problem is not with the policy or or with how clearly it is communicated on the website, etc. - - it is with how horribly my family was treated by the manager on duty when our error was discovered. The tickets were purchased for my (21+) daughter as a gift and we made an evening of it, driving from Alexandria, VA to pick her up in the District then driving to dinner in Annapolis followed by the show. When we walked into the (awfully empty-looking) venue 30 minutes after "doors," we were immediately denied entry due to my son's being under-age (note, I don't believe this is a limitation imposed by the club's license, as they also host "all ages matinees at which alcohol is served). When a young, female manager walked up, I explained our situation, that we'd recently attended a matinee show in which we were all admitted, that we're accustomed to all ages policies at DC-Baltimore area venues, that we had come a great distance, etc., hoping for her to show some flexibility, some creativity (oh so sorry, can I suggest your son and one of you sit in the restaurant and listen from outside, we'd be happy to offer dessert, coffee...ANYthing), some common humanity. Nothing....aside from a stone-faced repetition that the 21+ policy is well-communicated and that my son cannot enter the club. After trying (without getting angry, or at least outwardly angry, I swear) to get her to make an exception (to what from I can gather is a policy simply intended to create a civilized, adult atmosphere without disruptive youth in the room and not a legal requirement) and getting only a dull-eyed stare for my efforts, I asked (knowing I was digging myself deeper) for a refund (we'd paid over $100 for the tickets). And of course the response was a rote repetition of what I KNEW from having seen it online is a "sorry sir, all sales are final, there will be no refund." I asked whether there was someone else I could speak to- -she responded only that I was free to speak with the box office the next morning. I'm not sure it was reasonable for me to expect an accomodation in this situation- -the policies are what they are and they are plainly communicated. I think what it was reasonable for me to expect was to be treated with some sensitivity, some respect, and some empathy by management. Even if all I received from this person was a "I'm awfully sorry that this happened sir, I know your family has traveled a long way and this must be very difficult and awkward for you let me offer you dessert and an invitation to join us at a future show." Instead of kind and empathetic customer service what I received was cold, unyielding and condescending customer service. And THAT treatment is what earns this review and a pledge not to darken the door of any Ram's Head establishment as long as I live. read more

My husband and I have been here 3 times. I probably wouldn't go back for the 2nd and 3rd time except that there aren't a lot of performance venues in town. It's a lot more like dinner theater than a concert venue. The quality of the seating varies a lot and they chairs are uncomfortable. You could be right next to the stage or have your view obstructed by a column. The food is awful. Eat before and stick to drinks. The drinks are OK but no quality wine. One of the shows we bought tickets to was rescheduled. When I called to follow-up on the refund, the woman was pretty nasty to me on the phone. The only way we will be back is if they have a musician we are dying to see. Other than that, we'll travel to Baltimore. read more

We went to the Avery Sunshine show on Saturday and what an experience. It was our first time at Rams Head and it will not be our last. We only had one concern which was the seats being so uncomfortable and crowded together. Make sure you know where your seats are before purchasing because some (like ours) were obstructed by a pole or beam, whichever you prefer to call it. However, Avery made up for any complaint we could lodge. read more

Went to see Secret Society. The band was on point as usual, but the service at our tables were nonexistent!! We sat in tables 106 & 107 and noticed that tables in front of us were being served with food, drinks, etc. however, NO ONE came to our table to greet us or anything. We had to get our own drinks and even had to request that the bottle of water on our table get refilled. My husband literally took it to the bar and requested service. We did ask a server waiting on the tables in front of us, if our tables were being served. She said yes, we had an assigned server, but that person never came to our table. I'm not sure what the problem was but this experience plays a huge factor in my decision to never visit this establishment again. Very disappointing since you host some amazing talent. This review is for the treatment I received from the concert ticket office. I bought tickets to go see Los Lobos on 20 April, a few days after I bought the tickets (which were bought back in February) I received word that my son was going to graduating from Air Force Basic Training the same day in San Antonio, Texas. As soon as I got this information I called the ticket office to see if they could work with me. I was continually given the run around. I was told I would be put on a list in case the show was sold out, I never received updates, I had to keep calling right up to the date of the concert, so I was out $165. Not a small amount when you are talking about funding a weekend trip to Texas to see your child graduate as an Airman. When I came home I tried calling corporate where again given the run around. I was told they would follow up with ticket master to see if they could get me my refund or a credit for another show. I never heard back and I tried several times to make contact, with no response. I tried contacting ticket master, they told me since tickets were bought through a third party (RAMS Head) that I was basically SOL. Terrible customer service, terrible corporate management, no empathy. Spend your money some place else. read more

I have gone to a lot of shows over the years and now that I'm older, and I hope wiser, and more mellow, I really appreciate smaller, more intimate settings for music. I especially enjoy acoustic music and Ramshead really shines in that area as I think they get a great variety of acts and the seats are all pretty decent. In addition, the service is excellent and they offer both food and drink options throughout the show which the servers manage to get to you without disrupting the performances. The food is your basic Naptown pub grub, nothing amazing, but certainly respectable. You can also pick the seats by buying tickets online before you go, which is not always the case for smaller type venues. read more

Saw the Young Dubliners. Small venue - you you are close to the musicians. Table seating - which means you cannot get up and dance, which detracts from the energy of the show. At least half the seating is to the right of the stage, so you get a side view. Food was poor - took forever to come out, and was cold. Wait staff was polite - but service to slow. Sound system was uneven. This may be a good venue for a comedy act, but for a rock show - was below average. Won't be going back. read more

I wouldn't pay again for the seat I have. Not interested in seeing the performers back all show. Ordered o root beer float. Ice cream was terrible. No WiFi acces. Think I'd learn sooner or later, don't expect good food at a music venue. Find a nearby restaurant eat, then go to the show. We ate in the bar and regretted it as soon as the food showed up. My medium burger was dark gray-brown and bone dry. A salad, how do you mess up a salad, had these dried fruit pieces in it that were uneatable. Like chunks of silicon in various colors. Maybe there are other things on the menu that are better, but I feel this is a good indication of the attention given and we won't be back there for anything but music for now on. read more

We have been coming to rams head for years traveling from Getttysburg to Annapolis to see their concerts. Having dinner and then going to concert. Not sure if I should review here first positive waiter was very good but I do think 2.95 was excessive for a cup of coffee but that is not what i am reviewing. We drove along way to see the Brian Culbertson concert and by the way hit an accident so it took an extra hour to get to Annapolis. We have seen Brian Culbertson a lot of times but i must say this was the worst!! He ever performed. Since he had 2 concerts which I dont' think he should have done 630 and 930 all i felt was he rushed the concert. He is always audience engaged and I just feel that all he wanted to do was get it over with. Take a rest and starte the next one.We were so disappointed as we value our time every minute counts in our life and to spend the time to come see his concert and not give us his full self will think twice before we see him again, I will never go see him again if he has 2 concerts scheduled in the same night. That is just money grabber if you ask me. My opinion of him went from a 10+ to in the negatives. So disappointed. read more
