$10 burger night on Thursdays is hard to beat. It's a thick, pretty tasty burger, with standard toppings plus bacon, and a side. I replaced the fries with Brussels which had good flavor but the sauce was overwhelming. It was more like Brussels soup. I would've preferred more of a drizzle than a bath, but they still tasted good. We sat up on the roof, which was really nice, but just be aware that in the evening while the sun is setting, it's tough to find any shade. Some of the tables are bar service, others have a server, so pay attention to that. read more

We made our way to the rooftop bar on a nice Friday afternoon. Good ambiance, nice happy hour and a birdseye view. They have glass panes up around the whole area so it still lets the light in but can block some of the wind. One of the few rooftop bars located in the area and we found it very nice and inviting. BLUF: Low key locals spot with good food and drinks and a private event space. Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge is a solid choice for a few drinks and a bite to eat. It has an unassuming exterior so it would be easy to pass by its West Street location. Once inside, Metropolitan has a dining room on the first floor, a private event space on the second floor and a seasonal rooftop bar. Certainly not the fanciest or trendiest of spots on West Street or in downtown Annapolis and I like the casual, local feel. The crab dip and friendly service were most memorable. read more

We really enjoyed Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge. We were in town for a wedding and went there for drinks and late night snacks and didn't realize we had a reservation the next day for brunch! We were happy to go back again. I will say we had a better experience with the dinner menu versus the brunch. The highlights for us were the pork belly bites, brussel sprouts and the octopus. Honestly there's nothing we had on the dinner menu that wasn't amazing and the drinks were fabulous too! Brunch we had a mix of the crab Benedict, breakfast tacos, biscuits and gravy. Everything was good but the egg in the Benedict was over cooked. They offered to fix it and refunded us which was amazing. Customer service was great and it's just a super cute bar/restaurant! Was staying along the historic street and stumbled upon the Metropolitan one night. They looked to have a happy hour that had an assortment of different foods as well as drinks. The drinks on happy hour were canned beers but that didn't stop me. I also loved that the had a rooftop as well with such a beautiful view of the small town vibe. For appetizers we got an assortment of 5 different things, however one that stood out to me was the grilled octopus. It was cooked perfect and had a fantastic sauce on it. I would definitely order that again. The pulled pork sliders were also really good. They were sold out of a few options when there but it has to be because of how great the food was. I love this place. We go here for happy hour whenever we are in A Town for a show up the street. Yesterday we dropped in around 6 for Tuesday's all day happy hour (usually 4-6). Beer specials are cans but great selection. Wife and I started with Tuna Poke w homemade wonton crisps. Incredible and great portions. Chips were fantastic. The staff were friendly and very prompt. We had the gnocchi and scallops as appetizers. The scallops along with the grits stole the show. The flavor was amazing! They are small and you only get 3. Who can I talk to about increasing the number to 5?? the gnocchi was tasty as well. They gave you enough for that to be a main dish. For our mains we had the rockfish and beef short ribs. The fish was really good. I didn't care for the sweet potato mash. The ribs were tender. The flavor wasn't bad at all but It wasn't hitting like the flavor of the scallops. Such an amazing dining experience! I found Metropolitan Kitchen and Lounge while looking for a spot to meet my friend who was visiting Annapolis. Their Tuesday all night happy hour immediately caught my eye so I booked a reservation. We got there a bit early and was immediately seated with a perfect view of the cute bar and wall art. The servers were so attentive and helpful, making recommendations about good items on the menu. The drinks came out very quickly and the were great! The share platters were also wonderful. Our food was good. We had the Braised Ribs. It was good. We also got two of their specials: TRUFFLE GNOCCHI CHOWDER, and FILET SLIDERS (steak filet). They were good too. I would say everything besides the tacos were absolutely delightful. My favorite was the flatbread and the brussel sprouts. I loved the flavor of the fig jam and the cheese and these have had to be some of the best cooked and seasoned sprouts I've ever had in my life. The tacos were a bit disappointing, nothing too special there. The bacon bits inside were a bit hard to chew as well. Came for brunch and left... satisfied. I have a review for a HH experience from this place from 6 years ago and I think it must of been in a hotel before? Interior looks totally different. Anyway, made a rezzie for brunch - they didn't have it but said they could still accommodate (I'd hope so, we were the only other table to walk in). Service was spotty and not very attentive - ran out of coffee for a decent stretch more than once. But, our server was nice and friendly - and when we asked for something she got it taken care of! Food was all okay, only star was the very well seasoned home fries - definitely recommend if you like big flavor. Fruit side was uninspired but very typical for breakfast, honeydew, cantaloupe, a tiny piece of pineapple and some watermelon. Eggs Benedict was solid, no complaints but not necessarily anything special - would of preferred it to come out a bit warmer. The pancakes were decent albeit a bit thin and kind of dry, came with a teeny amount of compote, a fairly dry and thick sausage patty, and the star was, again, the home fries. Nothing to write home about, but nothing bad either. Definitely on the affordable side as both our breakfasts were around 13 bucks, we'd prob try somewhere else in the area next time! read more

My favorite was the octopus. Flavorful and cooked just right; not too chewy just tender enough. Octopus has got to be one of the hardest things to cook correctly. Love this place. There are three tiers and we chose to sit out on the rooftop. I like that the deck is covered with large open windows, ensuring you have a view and get fresh air but that you stay out of the elements. Since there was a little drizzle, this ensured we were dry. They also have live music, and it is kept at a decent volume. Loud enough for you to hear it very well, but low enough that you're still able to hold a conversation. The particular local act playing should've left Prince alone, but that's not the restaurant's fault so i won't slight them for their performer's terrible voice. The food on the other hand was quite tasty. You're not going to get michelin star worthy concoctions, but the burger they provided was well cooked, and hit the spot. I opted for a hoppy beer to pair with it and it was well complimented. The rooftop was chill, but whatever level below us that also had live music seemed like a good time. I came here over Valentine's Day weekend with my partner while visiting my old college stomping grounds. I'm happy to report that Metro is as good as it ever has been. We started with their holiday special cocktails: the King of Hearts (whiskey-based, notes of chocolate evened out by orange, smooth as jazz) and Queen of Hearts (prosecco-forward, delightful). My main course was the braised short rib. The texture was perfect, falling apart as soon as hits the mouth. The greens were a well-seasoned complement, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery. All in all, a knock-out combination. This review is for the customer service. I would say that we have been to this place a number of times and enjoyed the food. We went in for my birthday on 10/7 for our 4:45p reservation. When we arrived the entire place was completely empty. The hostess took us to the smallest table in the whole place which was also wedged behind a pole. (Take a look at the picture) When I asked if we could sit at a different table she said "all the other tables are reserved" and quickly walked away. I decided not to make a big deal out of it because maybe there was a huge party coming in that I didnt know about. We ordered two drinks and three small plates to share. The chef's are doing amazing things! Kudos to them. We were there for a little over an hour and not a soul came in to the place. The entire bar was empty and the entire restaurant was empty. We were literally the only diners in the place. Granted there were a number of people who went to the upstairs rooftop area. Meanwhile I ate my meal shoved behind a pole at the worst table in the whole place. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. If you go here....Just know that if you are party of 2 you could possibly be sat at the worst table I have ever witnessed in a restaurant that presents themselves as upscale fashion forward dining.
