Level Small Plates is a place we've been to several times, and overall it remains a solid Annapolis spot for sharing plates, having drinks, and enjoying a relaxed dinner. On our most recent visit, we ordered the charcuterie board, pork belly, short ribs, and steamed mussels. The charcuterie board is always nice, and the food overall was very good. The pork belly and short ribs gave the meal some richer, heavier flavors, while the mussels helped round things out. The only downside this time was the service. Normally service here is good, but our waiter was really slow during this visit. It was also louder than usual, possibly because of a party or larger group nearby. That is not usually our experience here, so I'd treat it more as an off night than a reason not to return. Still a good spot, and we'll go back. read more

It had some salami and ham/proscuitto . The house pate was good. The pickles surprisingly good. The house made pate was made with liver and cranberries and I liked it. Zayne, our waiter, knew the answer to every question we threw him. Our bison sliders/burgers were very different and very specific and came out as ordered. My friend really liked it. Visited for the first time a week ago and would love to visit again really soon. I love the small plates concept so you can try as much on the menu without being wasteful as the portions are small. Everything we ordered was delicious especially the shrimp wraps, Brussels sprouts, house fries, and the warm chocolate chip cookies - mmm! This was my second time at Level lounge, and I was looking forward to this visit a bit more since I had an opentable dining certificate to redeem. My happy hour dinner started nice with their Short rib flatbread and Fried house pickles, and the flatbread was on point with all of its flavors working their magic. Spicy pork belly was a-ok: liked the sauce but the pork belly slices were pretty dry. Curried crab bruschetta was also a-ok. But my dessert, flourless brownie, ruined my meal. It seems to be outsourced and was one of the hardest brownies I have had. The bartender serving me was pretty attentive and pleasant to interact with. This place is fantastic! Our family of four went before taking my daughter back to school after winter break. We ordered a series of small plates and truly enjoyed all of them. We went on a chilly January night and pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves. Everything came out of the kitchen fast. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and made spot on suggestions. She made sure to let us know about portion size as she knew we planned on sharing multiple plates. For instance the lamb came 2 to a plate, so we knew to order multiple plates. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. The most disappointing moment came when the manager, Jennifer, showed up not to apologize or help but to scold the DJ, claiming the dance floor music was too loud and disturbing diners. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The DJ looked confused and kept lowering the volume until no one was dancing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If a venue has noise restrictions, that should be communicated clearly before an event is booked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The energy completely collapsed. The couple ended their reception early and moved to another location where they could actually play music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Level is not equipped to handle private events. We visited Level tonight around 5:00 pm on one of the Midnight Madness nights in Annapolis. We thought we were going for Happy Hour, but that part was a bit confusing. We did not have a reservation but we asked to be seated at a two top table in the main room. They gave us the regular menu and the Happy Hour menu. But the server said you had to be sitting at the bar itself to order the cheeseburger sliders on the HH menu. But we could have vegan sliders at the table where we were. So we passed on sliders. We shared the beet salad, the burrata, and the tenderloin kebabs. All three plates were really good. I tried the Farmers Market drink on the cocktail menu and it was awedome--very refreshing. We shared a cheesecake for dessert. Everything was awesome, but it was all the regular pricing, no HH discount. But be sure to go--the drinks & food are amazing. read more

The bartender was super busy with his own tables sat at the bar along with fulfilling other servers bar orders for their tables. The drinks menu was awesome. There was great variety and they were open to making some into mocktails! The original demons drink was the best I've had in a long time. The pork belly was probably the star of the show for us and we made it during happy hour which gave us cheaper prices on that and the flatbread. Udon was great. The flatbread was okay. The scallops were yummy but a little burnt and was hoping for more of the sides for $17. The cookies were pretty dry and crumbly. Cookies are my favorite dessert, but these didn't hit the spot. What a cool spot. Went on a Monday evening where there weren't too many other patrons at the time (~5:30PM) and ordered a few items before their happy hour ended. First thing I noticed is their flexibility to accommodate. They can make most of their cocktails into mocktail versions, so people feel less left out. And their cocktails are good! There's a good balance and depth to the drinks where it's clear whoever is in charge of the drink menu is somebody that takes great care in how they craft their drinks. There's infused liquor, presentation, and a few other "small" details that elevate the drinks to a different level. As far as food goes, much like the name implies, everything is tapas-style. Serving size per dish is probably for 2 people; 3 people per dish feels like it would be a stretch. Everything is delicious. I was impressed by the flavors of all the dishes, but the thing that impressed me the most was the cook on the meats. Everything was extremely tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Definitely appreciated in a tapas-place because bites are limited, but each bite was memorable. But hands down, the most exceptional thing about Level is the staff! Riley and Josh are fabulous bartenders. Kara and Jules are the best servers in town and Lexi manages the restaurant with the most welcoming attitude and the goal to make your experience perfect. I really can't say enough how this group at Level makes us keep coming back so much. Came here on a Wednesday evening prior to seeing a concert. It was pretty empty, but that was likely because happy hour had just ended and it was raining outside. The venue is dark and romantic, and is very deceiving when you first enter. It looks quite small but upon walking back toward the bar, you can see that there is a larger dining area under the staircase. (And also, perhaps more dining on the second level?) The food was excellent. Grilled sirloin was fantastically cooked (medium rare, the only acceptable option other than rare lol), and was super flavorful. My favorite was the current restaurant week special though: scallops with aguachile. The plates here are small, as it is a tapas bar, but I found them perfectly sized for one person such as myself. The portions are enough that a couple plates would fill you up if you didn't want to share. But if you are looking to try a bunch of plates, between two people 4-6 plates should do the trick. Drink wise, I ordered the blood orange sangria which wasn't that great. The sweet to sour ratio was imbalanced with it mostly just being very sour and slightly watered down from the ice. Our waitress, Tracey, was very sweet and so helpful. So the great service and amazing food is worth overlooking the lackluster cocktail. Also, I'm sure if I told her I didn't like it, it would've been switched out but I was too involved in my conversation. All in all, I definitely will be back! read more

We were surprised and disappointed by Level. We did not expect a meal out to seem like work. Neither the hostess or the waiter were welcoming. We did not get through even half of our pre-dinner cocktail before most of food arrived. The waiter suggested 2-3 small plates per person so we ordered 4 in total for the two of us. The waiter mentioned that the dishes would come out as they were ready. We didn't expect to have three of the four dishes brought out at roughly the same time, followed quickly by the fourth dish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The table was so small that the dishes could barely fit on the table. The cheeseboard ended up partially off the table at my left elbow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No serving utensils were provided with any of the dishes. We found it really unappealing to have to use our own utensils when serving from shared plates - quite unhealthy to share in this manner. The two glasses of wine ordered with dinner didn't come to the table until after we had finished our meals. The food was average at best. Ate at Level a couple of years ago and wife talked me into giving it another try. There's no parking. The food was underwhelming at best. My wife and I got mild food poisoning from the bad/undercooked seafood. Server left dirty dishes on our table but still brought us our check. Staff seemed like they didn't want to be there at all while the female (manager? owner?) glared at us from a corner of the bar. They have a nice bar area with great cocktails. Their calamari and sea scallops stand out in my mind. The mojitos are great here. Easy to ring up a good bill with the "small plates" but this type of dining is very common in Europe too. Which means the plate sizes are common for Europe not not the US where everything is bigger. Perfect sized small plate portions, not a tapas, but a bit more of seared (dry, not wet) scallops with a flavorful creamy corn sauce; while the two perfectly seasoned (taste that wine reduction though) lamb chops with herbed mashed potatoes and brocolli rabb were most yummy. Now, none of the exquisite dessert items tempted us, but that great server, knowing how minds might work, did conjure up an-almost-perfect affogato with our coffee and vanilla ice cream. Came here for dinner last night and had a great time! There was 6 of us and we just ordered a ton of food. Some of our favorites were the Mediterranean burrata, brussel sprouts and the kebabs. Everyone's top choice was the short rib with udon noodles. Absolutely delicious. Everything we had was great though and I'd go back and try the things we didn't because it was all just so good. Wow this is even better the second visit! The gimlet here is my favorite drink I've ever had maybe ever. The grilled cauliflower steak is the perfect meat alternative, I was hesitant because I'm not a huge cauliflower person but it was very good! The old bay fries are very good as expected. And the crab appetizer was SO good. Those risotto balls were warm and delicious and cold crab chunks with that sauce was the perfect texture & flavor combo.
