Genuinely one of the worst experiences I've ever had when it comes to sales. The misleading communication is done to influence car sales by promising and encouraging customers to place a deposit and pressure to hold a vehicle only to do a bait-and-switch to order from factory. I was charged a $1000 deposit. What was told to me would be a 2 week process for a dealer trade became a 2 month process of a factory order which was never communicated. The intentional miscommunication and lack of customer service was so terrible that ended in seeking business elsewhere and filing a complaint with the DOT out of concern for how many others have been mislead. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for honesty and have very little faith in the business practices of this dealer. read more

Ever since I purchased my first new Subaru in 2014, I had in my mind that I would get another in 10 years. I have loved my Outback and her we are in 2024 and I decided that 10 years was definitely the right timing. I had a day off (for my birthday) so I scheduled an appointment online to test drive. Very easy and convenient plus I got a $50 visa gift card. They still had the car on lot I was interested in and it drove very similar but better. The dealer we worked with (Paul) was friendly and very helpful with tips/info about various features especially comparing them to my current ride. I loved the car so pulled the trigger and traded in the old for the new. When I went to pick up the car, they had it "wrapped" for my bday under a cover with a bow!!!! The follow up supposed has been great, including links to various features to learn more about and an invite to come back in with any list of questions I might have. Ramsey and Paul were great to work with. And I still am loving my new car! read more

Stopped by wanting to test drive and not a single one of the 3 salespeople sitting at their desks in the lobby even looked up from their desks to greet me. Walked around the showroom for a bit assuming someone would approach me--but nope. Finally just walked straight up to Shayla Dervisevic and said I was there to test drive. Most unenthusiastic response of my life. She did pull the car I was interested in but in no way tried to sell it to me. Just here's the keys, try it out. Got back to try one of the other models in the same trim that I was initially interested in but decided I wanted to see a different trim. She acted put out by this request and said I'd only be able to drive it up the street because the tank was empty. A good salesperson wanting to make an actual sale would have topped up the tank...Again told me nothing about the car. Did my tiny test drive and walked. Haven't heard from Ramsey Subaru since and don't plan to be back. I'll drive over to the dealer in NE before I ever give them my business. read more

After spending nearly $40,000.00 on our new vehicle, the only complaint we have is trying to understand why we had to spend $40.00 more dollars and order a front bracket for license plate, when Iowa requires one. Other than that, we are very happy with our Crosstrek and our whole buying process with Rufad was far above our expectations. We purchased a 2018 Subaru Legacy from Ramsey Subaru and spent significantly more than planned due to a pressured and stressful buying process. While the car itself meets our needs, the experience was disappointing: poor communication, unresolved issues like a low tire pressure light (despite assurances it would be addressed), and missing paperwork -- including the dealership forgetting to have us sign the title and not contacting us until more than a month later. We tried multiple times to contact the dealership with questions and feedback but never received the basic courtesy of a response. The process was simple and stress free and the staff seemed personal and knowledgeable. Service is fine, people are friendly enough. Prices are dealer prices. Unremarkable. My real gripe is their advertising, I received literally 14 pamphlets in the last week from them, I never consented to receiving these and they won't stop even when I ask. The email campaigns are also atrocious, after going the first time i began receiving like 5 emails a day and they don't go away even when i unsubscribe. My experience with Ramsey Subaru of Des Moines was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. On December 13, 2024, I purchased a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium from Ramsey Subaru of Des Moines. Bryan Fisher was the salesperson who assisted us, and initially, he was very polite and helpful. We discussed the car and agreed on an "out-the-door" (OTD) price. However, after completing all the paperwork, Ramsey increased the final amount by $2,000 without informing us. We only discovered this while signing the final documents in the finance department. When we pointed out that we had agreed on the OTD price and refused to sign, Eden Dearden, the business manager, became very angry with us. Prior to this, we had specifically asked Bryan about the price, and he assured us that the OTD price would remain unchanged. When we later raised the issue about the price increase, Bryan simply said, "I can't say anything, sorry." At that point, we had no choice but to proceed and sign the documents, as we had already waited a long time for the paperwork to be processed. Additionally, as per dealership guidelines, the car's fuel tank should have been full, but it wasn't. Furthermore, while signing the documents, it was stated that the car had only been driven 6 miles. Trusting this, we did not verify the mileage. However, after completing the payment and getting into the car, I noticed that the odometer showed it had already been driven 55 miles, and the fuel tank was not full. The next day, I called Bryan, who explained that it was a test-drive car, which was the reason for the higher mileage. If it was a test-drive car, why did he fail to disclose this upfront? This experience with Ramsey Subaru of Des Moines was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I will not recommend anyone buy a car from them. I was happy with the experience I had with Toyota and will return to them in the future. I now understand why people trust brands like Toyota and Honda. worst decision!!! read more

They straight up sold us a lemon, we asked them to fix it because we still had our warranty. They said they'd call us in a week and have it done. They waited MONTHS to do anything and did not call us. So they could wait out our warranty, fix only half of our problem, send us back an unsafe car that still has the same problem it had when we had asked them to fix it. Now they're saying they can't fix it without charging us through the roof. Do not give these people your time or money. Do not buy from them. If I could give them less stars I would. read more

Just when I thought these guys had made great improvements, they let me down again. See my two previous reviews. I had a truly terrible experience when I brought my car in a couple weeks ago. I feel like the quality of their service is very inconsistent. The quality of the service depends on who you get for your service advisor. I had a really awful experience at their shop last December with my service advisor David. I left a negative review on Yelp and Google. So the next time I went in to have my car serviced by them was in March and my service advisor was Matt. I feel like he must have been told to do everything possible to make my next experience great so that I wouldn't leave a negative review again. He did everything he could to make me have a wonderful experience. I couldn't have asked for a better service advisor. He was very courteous and went above and beyond to make sure I was well taken care of. Fast forward to now. Kevin was my service advisor this time. I texted him. I called him. He never replied to my texts or voice message. I didn't know what was going on with my car or if it was going to be finished the day that I brought it in. I had to call their office twice and have two different ladies send him a message to call me back. He finally got back to me at the end of the day. I also wasn't sure if the shuttle driver was going to pick me up at the end of the day. I wrote down what time I needed to be picked up from work and the address I wanted to be picked up from. Ali, the driver, told me I was supposed to contact my service advisor to make arrangements to be picked up. I told him I wrote down the time I wanted to be picked up on the sheet, but he said something about people complaining so now we have to arrange pickup with the service advisor. So I was frantically trying to get a hold of Kevin near the end of the day to make sure I wouldn't be stranded at work without a ride back to their shop. When I asked Kevin about this, he seemed like he didn't know anything about that. Their employees need to all get on the same page so that they don't confuse customers. In the past, the shuttle drivers always gave me a business card with a phone number to call them. I don't know why they changed their shuttle policy. I found out later that Kevin was the only service advisor there which was probably why he was so busy. But that wasn't my problem. That was their problem. If you're running a business, you should make sure you have enough employees to properly serve your customers. I feel like the service at Ramsey Subaru has gone downhill significantly since Lithia bought them. I've had so many bad experiences with them since that happened. I miss the old days when I could go into their service center and be treated with respect and courtesy. The service advisors were friendlier and more attentive back then. Now it seems like all they care about is making money. The labor charges for replacing two sensors and the spark plugs were ridiculously high. Kevin told me that was because they were in all in a tough spot to get to and that they had to take out part of the engine to get to them. I feel like they charged me twice for the labor to remove the engine. It's not like they removed the engine twice to replace and the sensors and the spark plugs so it's kind of like they were double dipping for the labor charges. Every time I come in the repairs are always ridiculously high. This will be my last Subaru. After my current Subaru dies, I will be buying a different brand of car so that I don't have to deal with these guys any more. 12/30/22 Edited to add: I contacted two managers the day after my visit a few weeks ago because they sent me a text and and e-mail asking if I was happy with my visit. I told them both everything in this review and that I was going to leave a negative review here. Neither of them responded to my e-mails. Shame on them. Now after I post this review, they have the nerve to ask me to contact them to resolve this. The fact that neither manager responded to me clearly shows that they don't care about their customers. The last time I left a negative review, they left a comment on my review to contact them. I contacted them but they never called me back. Actions speak louder than words. read more

Ramsey Service is a reminder why people hate taking their car to dealerships. I had to bring my car in for a factory recall. Service Techs were condescending and rude. And did not share at all with me about the recall, just started in on upselling me. AND, the service was to take twice what they reported in the print material. When I asked why it would take so long, another technician interrupted that they had several techs out with covid and they were short staffed. I get that and sympathize, so why didn't any of the technicians/greeters have a mask on. read more

All I can say is this place is a piece of shit. If I could give zero stars I would. The employees are RUDE, they do not respect my time, they NEVER answer the fucking phone, the service area is so back up my car wouldn't be able to even get in for a week, they did a full inspection on my car before I bought it and a few weeks later my check engine light is on, I'm having transmission issues and the brakes don't work. They obviously don't know how to check a vehicle to make sure it passes an inspection. Just word of advise don't go here and take your business elsewhere this dealership is a joke. Don't expect them to be nice to you when you have a problem, be prepared to wait 30 minutes in the lobby waiting to even get someone's attention, expect to NEVER get a phone call back. I had to call 12 times to get ahold of someone about my vehicle In the shop and no one knew anything about it, they are so disorganized. My service adviser had no clue what was taking the shop so long and I found out that my car hasn't even been touched in 3 days when my advisor said it was in the shop already. The guy at the body repair shop fed me a line about new ownership and that they would need to locate the file for the vehicle. So I called back several times. At first I was pretty unhappy with my experience at Ramsey Subaru. I bought a certified pre owned vehicle after losing my other car to a hail storm. A few days after purchasing the car, I was notified that the car couldn't be certified, because it had been in an accident. Around this time, my salesman left Ramsey, and the information on how they would make things right weren't relayed to me. Fast forward a year and I was having issues with a leaky oil pan. No biggie, until they did a 12 point inspection and found that the car needed some maintenance. I was so upset that my certified wait not certified preowned now needed work that should have been done before I even drove off the lot. Thankfully Anna and her smiling face pointed me to Dan who could help me out. Although overwhelmed with everything on his plate, Dan helped me understand the information that slipped through the cracks at the time of my salesman's departure and made things right with the maintenance. Many years ago I bought a brand new Subaru here. It was probably one of my best experiences at a dealership - I trade cars a LOT. I'd go out of my way to service the car here even. I recently purchased a used car here, and sadly, the experience was the opposite. There was an issue with it before I even drove it off the lot. In fact I think it was an issue during the test drive (odd touch screen behavior from the head unit), but at the time the sales associate thought it was because it was so cold; plausible. I asked him when I drove it off the lot to please just recall what I'd showed him in case it stayed an issue. The comment at one point was "at least you got the extended warranty". Indeed I did, but with no plans of needing it within minutes of owning it! I've left messages for whosever voicemail the front desk pointed me to (front desk is always kind). I sent 2 or maybe 3 messages via the contact forms on the website, but zero response; none. Yes, I'm the idiot for driving it off the lot and trusting they'd still be willing to try and even meet me half way and make it right; I get that. But the complete lack of response is frustrating, and only ensured not only will I never spend a dollar there, but rest assured I'll go out of my way to persuade anyone else from doing so either. Why the extra star? Because years ago Yelp didn't exist to praise the new car experience I had there. And the gentlemen in finance this go round was very pleasant to work with. Good luck trying to get an oil change here! I've tried to get in, and there is always at least a two hour wait. It seems like the only way you can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time is if you camp out in the parking lot overnight. On top of that, Jerry Van Sickel doesn't care about the customers. He is very rude, and he picks and chooses what customers he wants to help. In addition to trying to get an oil change, I had an issue with the stereo, and they had to order a new amp. Jerry said it would be 7-10 days. Three weeks later, I never got a call. I called back, and Jerry very rudely told me that it was in. As far as the oil changes go, I had to resort to going to Jiffy Lube They had me in and out in less than 30 minutes. Now, I'm getting notifications that my car is in need of a 12,000 mile inspection. I'm going to have to drive for no less than two hours to get this done, thanks to Jerry. Jerry needs to find another line of work, preferably one that doesn't allow him to work with customers. read more

We bought two new Subaru Outbacks six months ago and now that we've brought one in for it's 6 month oil change, can fairly review the entire location. We've moved from being luxury SUV owners to Subaru owners for life! You get so much more for your money and there are things about the vehicles that are superior to our previous SUVs. The tech guy, Nick was extremely helpful with both of our new SUVs, the service people were efficient and great, even the guy who sells Subaru products we found to be very friendly! The only reason for the 3 stars was some disappointment in financing and our salesperson, Jordan, who I don't recommend, because once he got his commission for selling two new Outbacks, he blew me off when I sent repeated emails regarding an issue I had after the sales were complete. However, I'm sure anyone else on the floor would be fantastic, because they were all super helpful and easygoing! read more

We purchased our first outback 9 years ago from Ramsey Subaru, wish we had not. The service from the sales professional we worked with back in 2012 was poor. Their service department has been difficult to deal with that we stopped bringing our car in for service at Ramey. We were on the market to purchase another new Subaru (Ascent this time). The thing they are constant with is poor service. We were ready to purchase and our sales rep left us hanging, did not cover how to use features on the Ascent, did not spend anytime even after I told him were we ready to purchase. Instead he went on to help some other people. We wound up the same day going to Baxter Subaru in Omaha-got a great deal, awesome service, spent time explaining features. Coming from out of town to purchase my WRX, I can't say that I experienced much of the dealership-but that's a credit to Paul Moser. I spent a total of 45 minutes to an hour at the dealership all said and done. Leading up to the visit to pick up my new car, the negotiation process was painless, easily besting the deals I could have arranged via True Car, Costco, etc. at my local dealerships. All details were handled prior to my dealer visit. Paul excels in communication, and is very easy to work with. Oh, and a pleasant surprise-he actually knows about the product he represents.
