It's a magical place where you arm yourself with plastic bags (like the ones at the grocery store) and you walk around and scoop stuff into them. It's that simple but it's also that awesome. Almost anything you can think of, they have it here. There's 12 different kinds of flour for goodness sake! Candy, rice, spices, dog bones, pie filling...you name it, they have it. And you can get whatever quantity you want, from a pinch to a pound! You pay based on the weight but we bought about 10 different things and barely broke 20 dollars. You want to try quinoa but you're not sure you'll like it? Buy a cup worth. Got a weird addiction to Sour Skittles and you're embarrassed the convenience store guy is starting to notice? Buy three pounds at Bulk Barn. Our only knock is that we wish their scoops had measurements on them in case you're buying portions to cook with.

It's right off highway 12 and just a few kilometres outside of the town of New Ross. You can't miss it. They've got a brewpub in Halifax but this is better because you can talk with the alchemist behind the craft on site. The selection is just huge and you can sample whatever you want first before buying. The little retail hut is TINY but it does have three stools for sampling. There is literally something here for everyone. We like dry ciders and there are a lot of options. But there are also in between and even sweeter options. Lots of sweet fruit wine options as well for folks who haven't refined or figured out their palate yet, too. Definitely check this place out if you're heading up or down the highway!

A welcome addition to the area, the owners have opened up a small bake shop where they make and sell small batch sourdough breads, treats and pizza dough. In addition, you can purchase hand made and dyed linens that the owner makes. They've got sheep and produce their own fibres so it's a really great spot that's clearly going to grow. You may have seen them at the Clarence market as their shop hours are currently incredibly limited. When I say they sell out fast, I'm talking 15 mins fast! Hours are 11-5 twice a week but you're often out of luck if you arrive by noon so get there BEFORE opening if you want some amazing wood-fired bread!
