ran into this place by chance and tried their vegetarian combo with paneer tikka masala and pav bhaji and the goat haleem and both were good! the best part about their food is that it has a slight spicy-hot kick to it which i've found really hard to come by! i'll be back.

The hummus was thick with a perfect flavor profile. I packed half to go as it was a large portion. Amar was an amazing server! He immediately brought pita bread, cheese and butter to the table. He pretty brought water to the table pretty quickly along with a to go container and bag. Pretty chill vibe in Shandeez Grill...

Atmosphere: Quiet, comfortable, and more "family dinner" than flashy date-night. It's a simple dining room, but it's clean and relaxed--easy to actually talk without yelling over music. The kind of place where you can tell regulars come in a lot. Food: This is what you come for. I went the kabob route--juicy, charred in the right spots, and seasoned so you actually taste the meat (not just smoke). Rice was fluffy and came out hot, and the grilled tomato/veggies were a perfect add-on. Also grabbed a yogurt-based side (maast style) and it was super refreshing between bites--especially if you're doing anything spicy or super savory. If you've never had Persian food, this is a solid entry point: it's flavorful without being intimidating, and everything feels filling without being heavy. Service: Friendly and patient--no rushing, no weird attitude, just genuinely helpful. They'll explain dishes if you're unsure, and everything came out at a good pace. It felt like they wanted you to enjoy your meal, not just flip the table. Wrap-up: If you're in NW Austin and want legit Persian comfort food--kabobs, rice, stews, the whole deal--Shandeez is a really easy recommendation. Great "treat yourself" dinner that still feels warm and low-key.

I've lived off Parmer Lane with my family for about 5 or 6 years now, and one of the best things…read moreabout the area has been the amazing Indian food scene that's grown here. Out of all the places nearby, Sangam stands out the most to me. This place is ALWAYS busy from open to close, every day of the week, and after eating here for years, it's easy to understand why. You can literally smell the fresh curries from the nearby HEB. The aroma alone makes you hungry. We've been coming since they first opened, and it's been great watching them continue to improve and expand the restaurant over time. The staff is attentive, friendly, and constantly checking in to help with orders or anything else you need. We've tried a huge variety of dishes over the years. Several curry's such as the Chettinad special curry, butter chicken, tikka masala, chicken 65, several biryanis, all consistently delicious. One of my personal favorites is the plain dosa and curry combo, which comes with four different chutneys that are all fantastic. Even my young son loves coming here because they have things like shrimp noodles and fried rice that are kid friendly while still tasting great. We used to mostly order to-go, but lately we've started dining in more often because the experience itself is so enjoyable. Service is quick, the atmosphere is comfortable, and I really appreciate the details. The artwork and photos on the walls, the music, and the lighting that isn't overly bright. They even dim it more in the evenings, which makes it feel even more relaxed and welcoming. Every visit has been a great experience for our family. Easily one of our favorite restaurants in the area.

Thanksgiving came around and we had zero desire to cook or clean. Our "plan" (and I use that word…read moreloosely) was Golden Corral. We figured if we got there early, we'd beat the crowd. Cute of us, honestly. We pulled up and that parking lot looked like Beyoncé was performing. Cars everywhere: on the grass, on the curbs, people creating their own imaginary parking spaces. People circling like it was Black Friday. Absolutely not. We left with no backup plan and even less hope. Pulled up Yelp and I remembered that Dimassi's buffet had been on my radar for months, but was it open? Called them up and CHA-CHING!!! Money! They were open, guys. That phone call felt like hitting the lottery. Thanksgiving was saved. We arrived and Dimassi's was calm, clean, and the buffet bar was fully stocked with hot food fresh out of the kitchen. They had your Mediterranean favorites: dips, salads, gyro meat, dolma, chicken kabobs, saffron rice, the good garlicky toum, warm potatoes, fresh pita, everything. They even prepared a turkey for patrons who wanted some. Wow. They understood the assignment. Now a couple things could be tweaked. I like my baba ganoush served warm...and maybe they could have had some lamb options? But, honestly? For a buffet on Thanksgiving at $23 a person ($9 for the 3 yr old with us), they delivered HARD. Dimassi's didn't just feed us...they rescued us from the Golden Corral Hunger Games. Thank you for being open. Thank you for coming through in the clutch. You saved Thanksgiving.

There's another location in Round…read moreRock, but many reviewers said the original spot is much better, so we decided to start with the OG location. Parking is plentiful right in front of the restaurant. We came by on a Saturday around 1 PM, worried it might be packed, but it was actually pretty quiet. You can sit anywhere you like, grab a plate, and pay when you're done. The space is large and open, with three full rows of food and drinks plus a dedicated station for fruit and desserts. Everything was fresh, not overly salty, and there were plenty of options. My favorites were the hummus with eggplant (so flavorful with great texture), the salad and cucumber salad (fresh and refreshing), the dolma (perfectly done), gyro (tender and tasty), baked cauliflower (so good), fried chicken (juicy, crispy, and not salty), falafel (extra crunchy), and the lentil soup (simple but delicious). And don't miss their coffee at the checkout--it has a hint of warm spice and is the perfect finish after a meal. Surprisingly, I ended up loving the vegetable dishes even more than the meats. Overall, yes, $26 per person is on the higher side (what doesn't cost these days, right?!), but it's a great spot to try a variety of Mediterranean dishes that are fresh, simply seasoned, and let the ingredients shine--perfect whether you're new to the cuisine or just want a bit of everything.

The saag paneer is definitely more concentrated spinach than others that I have had, but it's plenty flavorful, without the spinach flavor being overwhelming. You'll need some rice/naan to go down with it and the naan has great chew. Sop it all up! They do a fine rendition of all the food, so it definitely hits the spot. Spice Fine Indian Cuisine is a diamond (surely some of the best Indian food I have eaten in Austin) ... or a chunk of coal. Let me put it another way... I waited to see if I got sick before I wrote this review. For perspective, I grew up in Mexico. I'm not easily frightened away, but I can spot red flags. First thought upon arrival: "So glad I checked their health score on Yelp." See Spice Fine Indian Cuisine (95 out of 100). Upon closer inspection, Spice Fine Indian Cuisine (aka AG's Spice, aka Pushpa) has an abysmal record. In fact, this restaurant is simultaneously operating under three different names and has three different Yelp pages. Please see my photos to review their Food Establishment Inspection Scores from Austin's Open Data Portal. A score of 58 just last year would be considered poor and would indicate that the restaurant has had multiple critical violations, such as issues with food handling, storage, or cleanliness. In Texas, the lowest health rating a restaurant can receive is an F, or a score of 70 or below. This is a travesty, because the food really, truly was delicious, and their offerings are fascinating. If this place were truly cleaned up, it could easily become the toast of the town... it was that good. They specialize in Hyderabad cuisine- something I know nothing about - but they also serve many of American's favorite dishes, such as curry, or Tikka Masala. Red flags: - The man who came to our table to "check" on us was so unkempt that it was remarkable. His hair had not seen shampoo for a very long time. I speculate that he was one or all of the following: owner, manager, chef. - Tables and menus had been wiped clean with a very greasy cloth or sponge. The glass top was streaked everywhere. - Bits of dried old food on supposedly clean dishes (we were handed a stack of dinner plates, and two of them had them). I imagine that they use an industrial dishwasher, so I wasn't alarmed. Still... - We were the only people in the place for two hours (5-7pm) on a Saturday, which happened to be the restaurant's Happy Hour, according to their website. - A very dead potted plant right next to reception. - Three restaurant name changes? - We were seated in a booth which was not flush against the wall. In the crack, I spotted a fork, a newspaper and a wadded tissue.
