This used to be our go-to spot, especially for trivia, but after they took up over half the place for a golf simulator, we don't go anymore and opt for other bars in MH. There's very limited seating inside and when you're doing trivia you have to sit outside and try and listen to the questions. I see a few reviews feel the same way about this "addition". Beers are inexpensive and delicious. I love sours and theirs are consistently good. The pinball machines are fun; bathrooms are clean; sinks are outside the bathrooms so you can wash your hands if you want; bartenders and people at the bar are nice; Running Shop and Hops overall has a local Morgan Hill feel. Went to go buy shoes but was pleasantly surprised to find that they just sell beer now. I'm a decent runner these days so I know the value of a good pair of shoes, but it's actually pretty easy to just order shoes online. It's way harder to order great beer online, but it's just as important for electrolyte recovery and mental health. Great service, fun ambiance, and a good pizza spot next door as well. They also just added some golf simulators in their side room, they are awesome. Definitely a great selection of beers! It was our first time and it was a total gem. The service was great and very inviting. The Bibo's pizza next door really hit the spot because the pizza came out fresh and hot. Had a good selection of old school arcade games. The bathrooms were kept clean and shared space to wash hands. The price for the beers were very reasonable. We came out here to Morgan hill for cherry picking but they were all closed so we ended up out here. We've been coming here since the running shop opened pretty religiously. This new golf set up is really a bummer. Significantly less seating and it's ruined our favorite area we've been sitting in for years. Everyone I've talked seems to agree but I'm assuming it's here to stay at this point. This really doesn't seem like a big enough venue for golf simulators and it's taken up so much seating for a place that was already limited. We still come once in a while and enjoy the beer and staff but since the new arrangement we come significantly less. Not happy about the new golf set up at all. They got rid of half of the space, and half of the arcade games. They also got rid of any possibility for trivia, puzzle nights, or reserving the space, which would bring in more revenue. (You will see lots of dogs and children) Tuesday they have trivia nights that starts at 7, they normally always have a food truck out in front that changes weekly. They no longer sell ciders here which is normally what I order so that was a bummer. They said cider is a being considered a wine now and they don't have a permit to sell wine so they removed all ciders from the menu. Great place to finish a cycle ride! There's a bike shop across the patio. Many beers and ciders on tap. They will make recommendations and offer tastes. Very open, lots of fresh air seating and standing. There is both a coffee shop and a pizza shop at opposite ends! A few TVs to watch sports. A food truck on the curb, usually Mexican fare. Just a fair warning to other customers, don't always expect full service until closing time. We showed up 20 minutes prior to closing and were told beers in cans were our only option. I went here last night to catch game 3 of the Warriors basketball finals, and I'm really glad that we chose the spot. Initially I was a little bit reluctant because there wasn't a whole lot of televisions to watch the game. I was trying to find a table to sit at to meet with my friend. But I figured when the place started to get busy it would be hard to see the TV from the table that I have chosen. So I decided just to go at the end of the bar. Perfect choice. I was right in front of the television and got a great view of the game, although the audio was a bit low and we could have used a little bit more of that so we can immerse ourselves a little bit more into the game. But as far as beers. There were so many to choose from. And they had several different taps of several different beers from several different local areas. I had the Saint Adarius Rustic Ale, #44. It was exactly what I was looking for, a tasty hazy IPA. There's no food here. However, there is a pizza spot right next door that had excellent pizzas (I wish I knew the name of the place because I would give them a review as well, I'll have to look that up and do that later). The nice thing about this pizza place is they delivered your pizza right into the bar. Too cool. But I did have to leave my spot and have it saved by my friend to go order our food at the pizza place. Not too inconvenient. It was really just next door. I will definitely come back to this place over and over again. If you are a beer lover, this is the place for you to go in. Morgan Hill. Everytime we make a trip to Morgan Hill we always make a stop here to pick up drinks. They have a great selection of drinks and there's also something new to try. I also love that they are right next to a pizza shop and allow outdoor food. Plus the fun part is that they have different food truck parked out front almost every day! Visited this past Sunday, and some differences from my pre-covid visits are the setup looks just a bit disorganized, ie. some outdoor seats closed off, the indoor game room occupied by tables and seating rather than games in use (though the foosball table was in use). And they had a line of people going out the door, as they only took orders from the middle of the bar (guy said they only had 2 computers in use). It's cool, the line went fast. The customer service was great. We opted to sit at the bar inside instead of using their outdoor patio. Around 4pm, it felt somewhat crowded, but the crowds were gone after 6pm. So was the food truck. There's a different food truck out front on different days. On this day, Scratch Cookery food truck closed up early cuz they ran out of food around 5pm (though they were scheduled to be there till 7pm). Thankfully, Running Shop and Hops has its own food menu, serving one of my favorite foods (empanadas), along with a few other options like burgers and pizza. The empanadas were pretty good. There was nothing special about the dough/crust, but the fillings were delicious, with great seasoning, and came with a side of chimichurri sauce (not out of this world like other places, but decent). We tried several flights of beer (they do sets of 3 or 6), and our faves were Ghost Town Incidental Mortality, and Humble Sea Surge Juice. I also like Hello Friend Beer Like an Echo in the Forest. But we liked most of the beers we tried (they were all IPA's). They have the largest beer selection I've seen anywhere. Combined with good food, friendly service, and a clean environment with a lot or character and cool decor, as well as two TVs playing sports at the bar, this is a great spot. Great tap list, so many different options! Had the choice of flights of 3 or 6, a pint, or cans. Got a flight of 3, went to get a pint of my favorite one that I tried but they had already changed out the tap. They let me try the new one and I ended up getting a pint of that. Really good service and overall experience. Loved that they had a food truck, which was actually the reason I went down there. I would go back for the veer and a different truck again. Outdoor patio area was awesome, loved the barrels as tables and the hops outside. Cool aesthetic. Only issue was that it felt very crowded. Seemed to be a popular spot which is great for them and usually creates a really fun vibe, just not exactly what you want to see during Covid. It was the first weekend of outdoor dining being open again though, so that could've had some affect on the number of people there. read more

My husband and I were here on a Thursday and we love the ambiance and service at Running Shop. We ordered a couple of beers and were trying to enjoy them and have a conversation with each other, but were unfortunately interrupted by young children being pretty unruly. They were throwing ski balls, running around, and screaming. Being a parent myself, I can appreciate that kids want to play and it can be extremely difficult to have to focus on them the whole time you're out. I am a total advocate for kids and parents, however, this is an establishment that is categorized as a bar. Kids probably shouldn't be allowed here.
