Service sucks, don't pay $119 for 25mbps, we do & it never gets to that. Complete garbage! False advertising!

This service was ok 4 years ago. If you don't have access to cable internet, which I don't. But it has gotten progressively worse. At this point it is useless much of the time. And it is super expensive. I pay about $125 a month. The company got bought out a while ago and as near as I can tell the new owners are committed to terrible service at outrageous prices. I finally got Spectrum to extend their line the 600' I needed to be able to connect to cable. I am sooo happy. It's goodbye to this awful service forever. I won't be looking back. Take my advice, you're better off with a cell phone hotspot than this garbage. read more

Honestly no internet company is great dealing with, BUT this company is by far the WORST I have ever dealt with. They are extremely unhelpful. They stopped charging our account for internet due to covid and then shut our internet off. When we call we now have almost $500 to pay off and they think that can be paid all at one time. When most of us are still struggling from covid because not much has got any better. With that being said we tried to pay biweekly. They still shut it off. Then we paid $140 one week on a Wednesday because that's when they shut it off. By next Wednesday it's off again. When we tell them we will pay more on Friday when payday comes around they refuse to turn it back on. Also, whether we pay for it or not the internet still sucks. It is like not having any internet anyways. read more

I've had this service for about a year. The signal was never very good but recently it has got even worse. I've requested for someone to come take a look at it but there service rep that answers the phone states that my signal is fine. Don't waste your time getting this. I will be changing providers as soon as possible. read more

We had Ranch Wireless service for about a year in 2010-2011 timeframe. Ranch wireless is a great way for the casual internet user to get online without breaking the bank, particularly since after all these years the wireline services are still limited in availability. The ping times are good, it will blow the doors off satellite service particularly if you do remote login, VPN, VOIP, etc. It's a local company, you can call them and get a real person on the phone. If you have connection problems, they will come to your house to help diagnose the issue. There are a couple of limitations you should be aware of though: 1) The bandwidth is shared between everyone on the same tower and they pretty aggressively throttle the bandwidth. You get a little burst that makes web pages load quickly, but beyond that you only get the "Committed Information Rate" that's listed in their price plans. If you want to be able to stream video you will need AT LEAST the $100+ plans (750kbit committed) If you're a power user and you want unrestricted bandwidth and static IP you're looking at $250-300 plans. So while they start out at $50, the price goes up quickly if you demand more. 2)They do have outages, service is not guaranteed, no SLA. Sometimes it is down for an afternoon and all you can do is wait for it to come back on. Depending on your location you can have packet loss issues or weather effects. My wife and I both work from home and this became a real issue for us. 3) You have to buy or rent the modem. It's about $350 to purchase or $10/mo with a 2-yr contract. You have to install it yourself or pay them to install it for you (it goes on a pole on your roof) 4) Unless you have a plan with (or pay $30 for) a static IP, you will have a NAT-ed IP address, so you can NOT get any incoming connections at all. With a normal DSL/cable you can use dyndns but this will NOT work with RW unless you pay extra. We eventually ended up getting a T1 with Verizon which is $350 a month, which is expensive but still about the same as equivalent service from RW. If you need a very reliable connection you can't beat a cable. Bottom line: If you're a casual user looking for an inexpensive way to get online, and the big telco's don't have service in your area, this is the plan to get. I would recommend this over satellite any day. If your needs are higher, you will have no choice but to shell out more money, and at that point other options will emerge (T1 is available basically anywhere you have regular telephone service). As a side note, I had signed a 1 year service contract but after explaining my issues they had no problem canceling my service, in fact they even credited the unused portion of the month! read more

Had this service nearly 4 years now and I have nothing to complain about, have to understand that its wireless and you need to have line of sight to one of their towers for it to work. I live on top of a hill and works good for me. I get 5-7 megs of speed all the time and I use movies and online gaming no problems. So if you live in a hole or in a forest don't bother..... Update 9/12/2018 for almost 6 months now since the announcement of the buyout by VTX communications I have been having problems. I currently have the highest/best plan they offer which includes unlimited bandwidth. The last time I contacted support he informed me my upload was maxed out and was causing my issue. I researched it and it is my Google cloud account trying to sync. Well I turned on my traffic monitor and yes it's running a 1.5mps and staying there. I pause it and it runs at 5-6 megs for a while and returns to 1.5 so even though I have the best plan they offer my speed is still limited. I asked about that and his response is our speeds are not guaranteed but the website says 25mbps down and 4mbps up. Which I believe these speeds are attainable but are limited by the company. read more

Thoroughly disappointed. I settled for this service because the company I wanted to use didn't have the bandwidth. I work from home and have been getting speeds half of what I was told I could get; and usually my upload speed is faster. Today there was an outage and I couldn't work. Around 3 o'clock I was told that the tower was on backup and is up and running until the repairs could be completed sometime tomorrow. The speeds on backup make dial up seem fast. I still couldn't work effectively and streaming anything was impossible. Outages happen and I get that, but there was no urgency at. The repair crew was done around lunchtime and I was basically told "suck it up until tomorrow when we get around to fixing it". The first chance I get to go to another provider, I'm out. read more

Have used this internet for a couple years out at the ranch near Lake Mathis, TX. It has worked well, but never been the best. Recently it has been hardly functioning. When I've called to troubleshoot, the technical service professionals have been unhelpful in resolving issues. Plus, no service technician will come out and fix things that they are unable to resolve from an isolated tech location. read more

The service was never reliable. I had constant signal interruption. And when I called for help they could not help me. 1 star

So far awsome. I had PVCO who was good, but got bought out by Skybeam who sucks. I've had the sattelite internet providers, wildblue/excede and hughsnet that also suck (unless that's all you can get in which case I'd take hughes net). Hopefully they keep up the good work and don't get bough out by a bigger out-of-state provider. read more
