Oh man, I hate to ding a small town business, but after our visit, I'm not really sure they will even care about a negative review. The only thing this place has going for it, is the view! Our first stop in our week long stay, had us super nervous for our choice of vacation spots. We arrived early evening Sunday and after the recommendation of Chappy's was closed(COVID), this was literally the only restaurant open otherwise. I should've known better, when I asked a local where to go and the answer was, "ummm, the bowling alley ain't too bad". There were 7 of us, so I always give the wait staff a break on that mark. Although, we were all exhausted from our long drive and fairly complacent this time around. Haha The prices make you feel like you really have a chance at a good meal, but that's a trick. A variety of different menu items were ordered and not a single thing was worth eating. I ordered fish and chips. Grease flavored yuck. Burgers. Frozen blah ness. Chicken wrap. Old tasting. Kids hot dog wasn't even warmed up. Coleslaw was hot. Fries were cold. We waited for our food to be delivered for an hour and that was even after asking the waitress, who seemed stressed over her two other tables, how much longer it would take. The topping came when they forgot my husband's burger and we waited an additional 15 minutes for his food. Most of us left him at the table to eat alone, while we took a walk behind the restaurant. One of us even had to ask for a fresh bun, since ours had mold on it. Our drinks were empty. Our plates were full. The waitress became non existent, never a good idea. The fellow patrons dining were super friendly and we enjoyed the extended visit with them, but I can make friends anywhere, I came to eat and we were left terribly unsatisfied. I wish this business luck in their ventures, but as an outsider, management needs to take a long look at how things are being ran and head back to the drawing board. Best advice to visitors, skip this restaurant, head across the street to the market and grill up your own food. I guarantee you'll beat this place, even if you only grilled spam.

We came here on a recommendation of one of the shop owners. She said most of town ate here and I must say the day we went it was pretty packed. I got a roast beef and green chile sandwich (can't remember the name) and fries. It was all good. They were a little on the slow side, but they had a huge group in the back room. I found the service friendly and the prices reasonable. It was a good spot for lunch.

"Grease flavored yuck" is what a previous Yelp reviewer described the fish and chips as being. Creative choice of words, but an incredibly inaccurate description, in my ooinion. I will admit, the best fish and chips I've ever had the privilege of consuming was every single fish and chips dish I scarfed in Scotland. In Colorado, though I probably don't know the BEST of the best, I've ordered and eaten my fair share of fish and chips. A popular fish and chips hot spot is GB Fish and Chips. Their baskets tasted alright, with a great, light, crisp batter but every type fried fish tasted the same. Enter the most unassuming place to order the popular British plate - Rancher's Roost Cafe at the bowling alley in Westcliffe, CO. The view alone could distract anyone from any mediocre dish, but for my crowd, the view embellished the delicious dinners! A couple of double cheeseburgers, a Philly cheesesteak, and another couple fish and chips plates, all the meals were finished to the plate bottoms, plates nearly licked clean. The fish and chips only lacked the vinegar with which I like drizzling on mine, but it wasn't missing, really. The batter was so flavorful and light, it only surrounded the fish meat, and didn't smother it. The house-made chips were so flavorful, and I wish bottomless. There was no grease flavored yuck in any position at our table. The waitstaff was attentive, the drinks promptly filled, and the view - beyond any restaurant I've been in! I highly recommend this place whether you're hungry during your bowling games or are just plain hungry during whatever! If anything, you'll definitely be satisfied with this all-seasons amazing view!

Their burgers are insanely good. I stop at this place anytime I'm in town. I had a burger with sliced green chile that was amazing!

We were one of their first customers after they reopened! There is on-street parking in front of the restaurant, a shared parking lot "behind" the restaurant, and quite a bit of parking by the park a few blocks away. I had a cinnamon roll and a Stage Stop burrito and a sausage biscuit sandwich. I also had help! Hey! Yer eating the burrito before I took the photo! The burrito has the sausage gravy from the biscuits and gravy, but you can also get green chili on it. The biscuits are huge! Yay! There were 4 tables for dine in, but the food is packed to go. For their first day back, they are offering a free something for folks with a partially punched loyalty card. Surprise! You can reach 1 Pokésto and 2 Pokémon Gyms and a Dynamax Spot from the restaurant.

It's also up for sale so someone who can afford it come save this business! I ordered a Strawberry Turnover and Vanilla Mountain Frost w/ Whipped Cream (frappé). The strawberry turnover was good, my only complaint is that only half it had a good amount of strawberries and cream cheese. The frappé tasted like straight coffee. I paid an extra $1 for whipped cream and I couldn't really tell it was there. I may not have set my expectations right when ordering it, but it was just okay. It's a very small shop, not a whole lot of room. Music is playing so it isn't deafening silence. There is plenty of seating outside, which is great when the weather permits it. The customer service was not very present. There was one person working the whole store so I'm not going to bash it with a lack of effort. Effort was certainly present, it's hard to run a place alone. But it took a long time for us to get our drinks. Side note: the lids on the freshly squeezed orange juice are truly loose (as the signage says) and it was spilling the whole drive back. Trust the sign

They close at 2:00 pm on Saturdays so plan accordingly if you want to visit this place on a weekend. Also, they're closed on Sundays! I love how this bakery is owned and run by Mennonites. The young lady who waited on me was very polite. One more thing, they're cash or check only! When I realized they're cash only, the young lady asked if she wanted me to hold the pastry I ordered while I got cash at an ATM. If you don't have cash handy, there is an ATM down the street at a grocery store. It's a Wells Fargo ATM. When I arrived back at the bakery, my pastry was waiting for me, all nicely folded up in a bag. It was well after 2:00 pm so I felt that it was thoughtful of her to keep the business open to complete my order. My original order was a raspberry cheese danish. I also ended up ordering a chocolate peanut brownie. I was also "eyeballing" a tray of their cinnamon rolls. I left after purchasing my two pastries and remembered that they're closed on Sundays so I approached the business again to see if I could order a cinnamon roll to go. The young lady was closing up the business for the day when I approached. I asked if she would mind if I purchased a cinnamon roll to go. She obliged without hesitation. Again, this was so thoughtful and such great customer service. I ate my raspberry cheese danish immediately and was very impressed. I later ate some of my cinnamon roll later then finished the rest in Sunday morning. I also devoured the peanut butter brownie on Sunday morning. What impressed me the most about their pastries is that they're not loaded with too much sugar. I find that many bakeries and grocery store bakeries overload their pastries with too much sugar. They nailed it with the right amount of sugar here. The cinnamon roll was huge. It's probably enough for two people. It's also only under three dollars which is impressive as well. When I return to Westcliffe in a few weeks I will definitely return here. I highly recommend this bakery to support local and for great quality pastries for very reasonable prices. Lastly, they sell various breads and jams. I believe another Yelper wrote that they sell breakfast sandwiches. I will order up when I return again. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

After buying more than I'd like to admit, I was ready to drive back into town and paint their little sign a bolder color and splash it with glitter! Haha This is one of those places that is a hidden gem. Walk in the door and the smells hit you all at once and your mouth starts to water. Take your first bite and it still doesn't disappoint. Days later, cut into the few day old bread, smear with some butter and you'd still be thanking your lucky stars. I'm ready to make the 9hr drive back just for the Apple Fritters alone.
