The Peregrine uses made with locally roasted Peregrine espresso so so good! I couldve just had these for the rest of the night.

Warm, inviting, and easily the best spot in Westcliffe. This place is a world-class steakhouse with a full martini bar, amazing service, and an atmosphere that instantly feels comfortable. I popped in randomly while looking for something to do, so I didn't catch dinner this time -- but I'm definitely coming back tonight to try their moonshine elk bruschettas. The menu looks incredible. I tried several cocktails -- The Peregrine, Violet Lavender, The Last Word, The Constellation, and an Old Fashioned -- and every single one was crafted perfectly. Their cocktail program is on another level. The homemade key lime pie is a must-try -- easily one of the best desserts I've had anywhere. The owners also take pride in using locally grown and locally made goods, and the attention to detail shows. Even the glassware is unique: authentic Depression-era pieces from the 1920s-30s that add character to the whole experience. If you're looking for great drinks, great food, and a genuinely welcoming vibe -- especially somewhere open late -- this is absolutely the place to go in Westcliffe.

Nestled among the peaks of the Sawatch Range, where tumbleweeds might theoretically roll if they weren't caught in the spokes of a passing bicycle, sits an establishment of peculiar perfection: The Biker & The Baker. My compass has unerringly pointed to their door every single time I visit Salida over the past five years. It is a tradition forged in sugar and chain grease, where the rugged American West meets the precision of French pastry. Pairing high-desert riding with artisanal baking seems like a recipe for a pile-up, but the execution here is a sweet ride. You will find aerodynamic cyclists sitting elbow-to-elbow with flannel-draped modern prospectors, united by a singular quest for butter. The Biker handles the gears, the Baker handles the tiers. They aren't just coasting on charm; they are pedaling toward culinary triumph, baking up a storm that rivals the monsoons over the Arkansas River. The confections are miniature monuments to indulgence. I have routinely panned for gold in this valley, but the true motherlode is their lemon tart--a symmetrical marvel of citrus striking like a high-noon sun. Their charcuterie boards are arranged with the geometric exactitude of a surveyor mapping a railroad. Whether you are gearing up to summit Mount Shavano or recovering from a grueling promenade, this sanctuary provides the requisite fuel. It is the exceedingly charming destination itself.

I purposely left my service animal outside while I checked the menu to see if I wanted to eat there while I'm traveling in Colorado. I've been hiking the trails and lady and I needed a little rest so we went to what I heard was the cheapest best burger in town. I even wanted to get a beer to relax and charge my phone while I was there but I never made it to the table because the moment I went to take my backpack off a lady came up behind me and told me that she had a reel with the emphasis on real service animal and that if my dog wasn't a real service animal that I should go to the back porch which I wouldn't be opposed to if mine wasn't a service animal. I travel on commercial airlines and trains with her. I go everywhere with her. Well, I responded that she shouldn't assume that my dog wasn't a real service animal and that set her off. She told me that she was the bartender and that I could get the f out of the restaurant if I talked to her that way. And started screaming at me that I was out of control. So I left promptly. I have sent a letter of intent to the owner of the restaurant letting him know that I will be suing both him and her personally for the incident. It shouldn't be that hard to get a burger and a beer when you're disabled. They made me give it stars.

The restaurant wasn't fooling around when it comes to garlic. You could smell the enticing aroma of it as soon as you walk through the door. The ambience was quaint. It is connected to a hotel which I'd check out if I were traveling through here again. We arrived at the restaurant around 530pm. The happy hour menu had both drinks and some dinner items on it. My companion ordered the Spaghetti & Meatballs from the happy hour menu. We were told the portion is the same as from the regular menu. It was $14. ($18 on regular menu.) It was a generous portion with three large meatballs. I opted for the Picatta Pasta at $12 and added four shrimp for an extra $6. They gave me five so I'm not sure if the chef made a mistake or was just feeling generous. I'll say the latter! The dish had tomatoes, capers, lemon, and white wine. The only thing I'd add to my taste would be pine nuts! We both totally enjoyed our meals including the bread! I forced myself to leave a little for lunch the next day and it was even better then! Comments I heard from around the dinner were equally enthusiastic about their meals, especially those who ordered the mussels. We're in town for a week and I don't usually go back to the same restaurant twice when I'm visiting a new location but my companion and I are definitely going back again before we leave. It was a Fri and a bit of busy night when we were there but our server Jillian did a great job and was super nice.

Switched to happy hour Montepulciano wine. Much better choice. The wife had the muscles, lots with good garlic bread. Also the Caesar salad with anchovies. She loved both. I had the chicken marsala. A little different from what I have had before but good. Would like to try a tomato dish but they are closed the next couple of days. Sorry no photos. PS. The Tiramisu was 5 stars!!! Very good.
