This place is a hidden gem. The reception area is well set out with a little kiosk to buy necessities. check-in was easy. I had a cabin called trout, which was ample for what I needed had a fridge, microwave plates, and other cutlery and crockery had a great little shower, toilet a double bed with a bunk on top. Outside seating area and towels. The place had great access to fishing along the Colorado river, where you went up the river or down the river. They were helpful in guiding your way to go and what to look for. I will definitely go back here. read more

We came up from Cedar Park, TX outside of Austin. We stayed in Vail (family timeshare) and wanted to get out for a place on the river. We came to Rancho Del Rio, and Jim the owner was absolutely awesome. The guide took us on a raft trip, and jumped out and showed us some of the history on the river. There were 5 of us, my wife, our 15 year old daughter, 18 year old son and 20 year old son and myself. Was amazingly family friendly, and my wife is terrified of water, and Jeremy the guide kept her in the middle with the gear as she liked it. The owner is new in the past couple years, and you can see the massive amount of work they've been doing and making this an amazing location. Most of the cabins are re-decorated and look awesome. They have camp sides for campers/rv spaces. You are out on the upper Colorado..."Headwaters" I believe, and it's amazing. They were talking about how many cars they shuttle as part of the summer service, and it's 8,000 to 9,000 a summer. They have a small store that's been re-docorated and they have adult beverages. There were more families out there now, and it's got a very cool wedding site and covered area for a reception. The view is amazing. We came in from Vail and went out up through the mountains in a giant loop, and the view on the way out, we had to stop and take in the view back into the valley. I wish we could have stayed there a few days, when we come back we will. They also have camping there for hunting in the fall, and I'm really looking into that as well. read more

We had an amazing trip to Rancho! The cabins are newly renovated as well as the General Store. It's the perfect spot for a family to unplug and really enjoy being together. Last weekend I needed to get out into nature but did not have a ton of time because of my work here in Colorado. A friend from Denver recommended Rancho Del Rio because it has a great mix of people, its not over crowded, and its clean. I looked them up on yelp and mentioned to my friend, (we will call him "Greg X"), the reviews were old and not great. Greg had been there the previous weekend with a decent size group and told me the property was sold a year or two ago and that it is under new management. My girlfriend and I rented a cabin for the weekend. It was a perfect mix of being around good people, gorgeous surroundings but close enough to Denver for us to drive in on a Friday evening. If you take a raft trip then ask for the blond woman (sorry I'm bad with names) that works the weekends. I booked a trip through Colorado River Center. Colorado River Center has a cabin at Rancho Del Rio (I don't know anything else about the organization). She did a good job explaining what to do on the river, how to stay safe and the history of the area. The van service did a great job of picking up and dropping us off. I just signed up for YELP because I was shocked at the reviews for this resort. My experience over the last year and now this year has always been outstanding. The new owners converted cabins and made them them available for nightly rentals. They are decorated so cute. Yes it's rustic, yes it's not a yuppie resort but my parents who are Marriott lifers stayed there and found it to be super relaxing and very clean and quaint and have already booked a stay in August when they come back for a visit. It is an unusual resort, but it's filled with water loving families who are just spending time being present with each other because most times you will not have cell service. read more

do NOT book a shuttle here. we paid for and got a confirmation for a shuttle from pumphouse to radium, when we took out at radium our car was NOT there. we confirmed that we entered our details correctly, and we did. we tried to call a total of 52 times and no answer. we spent 3 hours hitchhiking around on a dirt road to every take out and put in, before we let ourselves believe our car was stolen. we finally found our car almost 4 hours later, at a takeout 10 miles down the river. absolutely unacceptable, and we cannot get them to answer the phone, email, etc. even for a refund. Avoid this company at all costs!!!!! I don't usually let strangers drive my truck, but decided to use Rancho Del Rio. We used their shuttle service to pick up my truck and they would drop off down river. We got back to the truck after a day of rafting and noticed a big crack in my windshield!!! WTF!!!!! No note from Rancho or anything. I was left very confused and wanted answers. After a few days of calling, I finally got to speak with the owner. He said that a rock must have spit up from a truck they were following. No offer to fix. Nothing. I can't prove they actually did the damage, so I will have to eat this one and complain here on yelp. Don't use this company. Looks like I'm not the only one who is giving a bad review either. read more

I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a rating for this place. Pros: -access to the Colorado river -a nice little spot for tubing, with a great lazy river section that takes you in circles -dogs can be off leash (good for me, might be bad for you) -cheap rates ($3/person for each night of camping) -you can be loud at night- it's definitely a party spot -no kids! definitely not a "family friendly" type place -a liquor store and food shack on the premises Cons: -absolutely no shade- we all got fried -really dirty campground (i was greeted by a used diaper rotting in the sun) -lots of rednecks (and boy are they loud on the 4th of July) -no hiking nearby -in the middle of bumfuck nowhere -the most disgusting porta potty i've ever seen This is the place to go if you just want to set up camp for a quick night and get out in the morning, or if you aren't a nature person but still want to go camping. Definitely bring a canopy, some tubes for the river and a big ole bottle of whiskey. You can have a good time if you put your mind to it. read more

Caroline's review is about 100% spot on. We didn't know what to expect going in, but this place had a lot of character. The price is super cheap. There were definitely some loud roudy people. There were dogs off the leash, and there was no shade at all. Lucky for us, we got there just as the sun was setting, and left fairly early the next morning. If you want a real campsite, drive up the road a bit more. This place doesn't have grates for cooking over an open fire, so it was a little challenging. The porta-potty we used was actually really clean. Maybe they've done better at keeping them clean since last year. I would recommend this place, but realize you aren't paying much, because you aren't getting much. Oh, and the trains that roll through right across the river are pretty loud lol. read more

So I've been coming to Rancho for about 15 years when I lived in Colorado - they ran river shuttles for me. But I'd never stayed there overnite. Now that my family lives in Utah, we decided to stay in one of their cabins overnite after our river trip. The cabins are basic - make no mistake about that - but clean with great river views. But here's what's truly amazing - the service. There's been an ownership change a few years ago and the new ownership team is trying to keep the same cool vibe of the riverside "community" while "sprucing" things up a bit and it totally shows. The new owners used to run/own just the rafting rental operation but then bought into the entire community. Amazingly, my tire suffered a puncture wound and they discovered this while attempting to shuttle my vehicle. They ran a few roundtrips with compressors and tools - all unbenownst to me - while I was on the river - and ultimately got my vehicle delivered for me. What incredible service! Meanwhile, they couldn't be more pleasant with my family in arranging for a cabin - frankly, I'm now looking forward to staying there again in the future! If you're coming here to camp for a show up the road at State Bridge- it's really all you need. Although there isn't much shade, you can throw your tent up on a huge grassy area by the river and go float or take a dip to cool off. The prices are always different- and I'm pretty sure every time we've been here the person taking money is already wasted by the time we pull in at 4pm. Sometimes it's been $3 to "camp", sometimes $8, and shuttle service to the show is sometimes an extra charge and sometimes included. So you really have no clue how much money you'll be spending- it's really varied. I would NOT advise anyone to come for a "family camping weekend," or anyone wanting to rough it. This place is mainly filled with people wanting to party. If you're not expecting that you'll probably be up until 3am every night with the noise. But if you were anticipating a classier experience after looking around for whole 5 seconds, you kind of had it coming. I mean, the rafting outfitter sign even says, "Sex Drugs and Raft & Roll." Perfect place if you're just headed over to State Bridge for the night. read more

What an amazing experience. I can't speak highly enough about Rancho. We got married there with 150 people and Lauren, Otto, Jim and Katie made the entire experience flawless. We were able to take 90 people rafting and had the time of there life. The floating, fishing, lounging and party were all 5 star. They updated the cabins were beautiful. I recently stayed at Rancho del Rio for Beanstalk and for the Keller Williams show this past Saturday. At Beanstalk, we had brought my friend's dog for no cost. I had a wonderful time at Beanstalk & Rancho del Rio-- no complaints the first time. Then, this past Saturday, we were charged $30 for our dog, $10 for each person to camp, and $10 for the car. Understanding that there should be a fee for the dog because of dog trash left behind during the weekend prior (the man taking our money at the gate stated this), $30 is ridiculous. After Beanstalk, I had recommended Rancho del Rio to many people. That will no longer be the case, as Rancho del Rio gave no prior information on their website, a sign, or any other avenue to communicate that you were charging $30 for a dog to be on the property. I am not sure what kind of money grab this is, but myself and others are not in support of it. The fact of the matter is that many people do clean up after their dogs, and even though Rancho del Rio has to account for those who do not, $30 is not acceptable. read more

Payed for a shuttle in advance from Rancho Del Rio to Two Bridges boat ramp. Our car and raft trailer were not delivered. Therefore, we spent 6 hours walking and hitch hiking dangerous HWY 131 until we were able to locate our vehicle 14 miles down river at the Catamount boat ramp. No refunds for this serious error were offered. In addition, we were one of two groups of people left stranded that night by Rancho Del Rio's incompetence. Had a terrible experience! My boyfriend and I went rafting the other week and Rancho Del Rio was supposed to shuttle our car to us when we were finished (40 dollar charge). They were an hour and a half late while we waited in the rain and when we went to go talk to them and get our money back after we finally got our car back with no apology, some worker by the last name Anderson, was so awful and rude to us. Instead of calmly talking to us about the situation or even just apologizing for the misunderstanding, he got loud and defensive and rude. Yelled at me in front of customers, told me I'm not getting anything back and that it was our fault. Not only will I NEVER go through this company again for anything, but I suggest no one else go through them either. He made such a wonderful day into a terrible experience.
