They also had lanterns fully charged for us. They had a coffee maker with sugars. The tent is situated on top of a deck off the ground. Can walk barefoot around the tent area. At night, you can see all thr stars and milkyway (as long as it is a clear night). They have a ton of activities to take advantage of! We went on the ATV tour in the morning, and it was absolutely worth it. Shout out to Above and Beyond Tour! Thank you to Greg for the fun tour and Craig! Highly recommend the ATV tour! While in Vail for a quick getaway for a short weekend, I found this on a whim. As lucky as I felt I also got to learn about their history that is ending soon come end of September 2026 due to the owners' difficulties in renewing their lease with Denver Water. This ranch is an event place, paddle boarding place, hiking paradise, wild animal watching, etc. all in one. Per the information I read, the current owners have operated it for the last 15 years. This is one of the iconic places when it comes the outdoorsy stuff you can do in Vail. I wanted to do the hike to the waterfall and yet as sooo. As I learned from one of the workers that it takes about 6 hours to complete the whole round trip journey, I regrettably forego the opportunity. "I guess I will come back to do it before the official closure of the business" was what I thought and yet that's roughly two months away. Will I make it then? I shall see.. As the drought continues to threaten the entire region, I felt that this area could also utilize some moisture. Fortunately however, some wild flowers as well as the whole lushness of the greenery were still intact (as of early July in 2026.) So if you want to enjoy this beautiful property before it's completely shut down for good, go here before September 27, 2026. There is still time.

While the ride is extremely bumpy to get there, it is well worth it. The views along the way are wonderful, but once you enter the grounds you see a wonderful little camp with amazing views with many activities available. You can just sit and enjoy the scenery while enjoying a nice beverage and good food, or you can explore the area with a wonderful, well manicured and marked trail, lake for fishing and boating and breathtaking scenery for photography. If you have a long lens you may capture some great wildlife.. maybe even a moose on the far side of the lake. Piney Ranch hosts many weddings and some of the staff are residents at this great community. It took approximately an hour from Vail and I would not attempt to drive the bumpy road in the dark or rain. An SUV would be best, but we saw sedans making the trip. No camping available.

I…read moreloved the common area with plenty of comfortable places to sit, and the kitchen was very well stocked. I didn't really partake in the social atmosphere as I was very tired, and the people there seemed older. It is certainly not a young person party hostel. However, my friend I came with previously came a year ago and made good friends. The main issue that my friend and I felt made our stay uncomfortable was the restrooms. They don't have stall doors for the toilets. They just have a flimsy curtain that you can't secure in place, which was super awkward and made me feel on edge every time I was in there. Their showers also don't have doors, but that is more acceptable. We stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm, and it was comfortable. I really liked how they have full-size vertical lockers with keys that you can use for storage. When we checked in, they said one of us had to be on the bottom bunk and one on the top. It worked out for us, but if there are other beds available it doesn't seem fair if both people have a preference for a bottom bunk just because you are friends. People in hostels are usually solo travelers anyways and need to share a bunk bed combo with a stranger.

The showers were a pleasant surprise - quite clean actually on the ladies' side so that was a huge relief! The beds were simple bunks in the room I was in, and I was top bunk. Low ceiling so I couldn't sit all the way up but I could most way; i was also right by a water pipe so I could hear water running every time someone showered etc, but I stilled crashed from exhaustion/Im a heavy-ish sleeper. The room was a bit warm; with the window open it was way too cold so it was a wee bit stuffy but again nothing too bad. I slept fine overall, it was pretty decent as far as a hostel experience goes. Overall - if you're coming in late and leaving early for like 1 night (which I was), this hostel will serve your needs fine! But it is restrictive in how much you can move around/put your stuff in shared rooms so bear that in mind. Parking also interesting -- you can park along the south-west fences surrounding the place but when I came at 9p on a sat, there were no spots. I briefly parking across the street on Alder (to the west), but the folks who own the home came out and informed me i couldn't stay but COULD park by the stop sign across the street on 7th (to the south). The hostel said it was fine too, and I parked there overnight and nothing bad happened (ie towing). Overall: this place is fine for a short stay as far as I'm concerned! But you get what you pay for.

Disappointing experience for a romantic getaway I want to be…read morevery clear from the outset: the staff at the Ritz-Carlton Beaver Creek were absolutely fantastic. They were warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely tried their best throughout our stay. My disappointment is not with the people working at the hotel--it is with the management, planning, communication, and overall operation of the property. My wife and I booked this stay specifically for a romantic break. I have been traveling extensively, and we were really looking forward to some quiet time together. Unfortunately, we were not informed when booking that there would be a large wedding taking place at the property during our stay. When we raised this concern, we were told that the hotel could not tell us that a wedding was taking place because of privacy considerations. I found that explanation difficult to understand. We weren't asking for the names of the couple, details about the wedding, or any private information whatsoever. Simply letting guests know that a large wedding or private event would be taking place at the resort is basic information about the environment they should expect during their stay, not a breach of anyone's privacy. The wedding itself was clearly a high-energy event, and while I have absolutely nothing against weddings or people celebrating, the atmosphere was completely at odds with the quiet, romantic getaway we were expecting. Had we known in advance, we simply would have chosen somewhere else. More importantly, the impact went beyond the atmosphere. The hotel appeared to be operationally overwhelmed by the event. There simply did not seem to be enough staffing or inventory available to adequately serve the other guests staying at the hotel. At around 10 p.m., we attempted to order room service. We were told that the only option available was a Caesar salad without protein because multiple other menu items had sold out. This wasn't an isolated case of one particular item being unavailable--it seemed that multiple menu options and ingredients were no longer available. We experienced something similar at the Japanese restaurant. Again, the service from the staff was fantastic. They were doing everything they could, but effective inventory management should be a fundamental part of operating a property at this level. If a hotel is expecting a significant increase in occupancy and demand because of a major event, it should be anticipating that demand and ensuring it has sufficient stock to deliver the experiences and menu choices it is advertising. The staff were not the problem. The operational planning was. We did raise our concerns during the stay, and unfortunately, at one point the conversation seemed to shift toward the fact that our reservation had been made using Marriott Bonvoy points. I found that particularly disappointing. How a guest has paid for their room should not determine the quality of experience they receive. I am a long-standing member of the Marriott ecosystem, and one of the reasons people consistently choose to stay within a hotel group is the expectation that loyalty will provide a consistent experience across the brand. Whether a stay is paid for with cash, points, or a combination of the two, the guest is still occupying the same room and should receive the same standard of hospitality. In this instance, I simply did not feel that the value proposition of being a loyal Marriott guest was reflected in our experience. At some point, management needs to decide what this property wants to be. If it is going to operate as a major wedding and events destination, that can certainly make sense from a revenue perspective. But if that is the strategy, the hotel needs to ensure it has the staffing, inventory, communication, and operational capacity to continue providing an exceptional experience to the other guests staying at the property. Right now, it feels like the property is trying to do both, but the experience for non-event guests can suffer significantly as a result. The biggest disappointment was for my wife. We booked this as a chance to reconnect and have a quiet, romantic break after a period when I have been traveling extensively. Instead, the overall experience left her genuinely let down. To be absolutely clear: this is not a criticism of the staff. They were lovely, fantastic, and did everything they could. This is a criticism of management and the operational decisions surrounding the event. If you are looking for a romantic couples' getaway, I would strongly recommend considering an alternative property in the Beaver Creek/Vail area. If you are looking for a wedding venue, however, this may be a very different story. For us, unfortunately, it was a two-star experience and a significant disappointment given what we expected from a Ritz-Carlton.

Forget Disneyland, Tumbling River Ranch is "the happiest place on earth." Actually, "happy"…read moredoesn't do it justice -- TRR is a magical. We've done two trips to TRR with our extended family -- before we leave, we're already planning our next visit, and calling our friends to come as well. Why so great? Well, for one, Scott and Meghan make the experience frictionless. We arrived on Sunday and barely made a plan after that. Every night, they helped us plan our next day. Did we want to do a trail ride? Hike? Fish? Massage? Relax in our room? Whatever we wanted to do, every detail was planned. And our young kids went off on their own adventures with the incredible staff of wranglers and counselors. And the food. Oh, the food. On a typical vacation with family, every few hours I'm thinking about when and where we'll take the kids to eat. At TRR, they literally rang a breakfast/lunch/dinner bell, called everyone to a central hall, and served a delicious, family-style meal. And the nights all brought new adventures, from a cookout to a private concert to a "fancy dinner" for the grown ups (while the kids played capture the flag). On the last day, the whole ranch gathers for a rodeo, and we got to watch our normally timid kids jump headfirst into barrel rides and keyhole tricks... followed by a nighttime square dance I'll never forget.
