Our family has been coming to Rancho Pet Kennels for over 20 years and I cannot recommend them more highly. Anna and her staff are so wonderful and kind. They have always treated my dogs with the utmost love, respect and affection and take care of them as if they were their own. On more than one occasion they have gone above and beyond to give extra care to my girls. Anna and her staff have become like family to us and we can't imagine bringing our pups anywhere else. Left my foster Pittie, Rosie, here for 4 nights over the Christmas holiday and, while she definitely needed a bath before I could bring her into our house again, she was well fed and in good shape. (Made sure she had her favorite blanket with her and was wearing a warm sweater when I dropped her off with written instructions included for her food.) I recently boarded my elderly beagle at Rancho Pet Kennels for 10 days. I was nervous about leaving him. None of the facilities where I had previously boarded him would take him due to his advanced age. But Anna agreed to take him and she and her staff took such good care of him. She made sure he took all his medication, monitored his well being, found ways to get him to eat, and reached out to my emergency contact one day when he was having difficulty. We have been bringing our dogs (German shepherds) here for many years. Anna runs a very organized business and takes the best care of our dogs! We had our two male shepherds in adjacent kennels. I recently moved and the kennel I have been using for many years to board my dog is a bit far to drive. I searched for a kennel nearer to my house with outdoor runs, since my dog prefers to be outside and not mingle with a bunch of froo-froo dogs. This place was perfect. Clean and shaded in a wonderful Agoura Hills location with misters keeping the dogs cool in the summer. The staff knows how to handle big dogs. This is my new go-to kennel! read more

I've borded my dog here many times in the past 10 years and I think the business is lacking in good customer service systems. They obviously are not considering the needs of their clients. For example: If you don't pick up your dog by 1:00PM you get charged for the entire day. If I drop my dog off on Friday afternoon and pick him up on Monday afternoon I get charged as if my dog were there until Tuesday! For those of us who work for a living and can't get there until the afternoon or after work I think this is ridiculous! If they are reading this - try staying open until 6:00PM - it would make us a lot happier because many times we can't just leave our work until 5:00PM (especially after coming back from vacation). Their hours are posted as 8:00AM-5:00PM. I raced back from San Francisco yesterday and I showed up at 4:30PM to get my dog and they were closed already! The gates were locked! This forced me to come back before work today - what an inconvenient event just because they decided to leave early. An advanced notice would have been nice! Again, I had to pay an extra day because I couldn't pick up my dog before 1:00PM yesterday. Oh - and don't forget to bring cash or a check - because they don't take credit cards! What?!? In this day and age ..... I can only guess that they are not wanting to pay the processing fees. They seem to be making enough money on the daily boarding fees because the owner's Porsche Cayenne SUV is parked in front. What about the needs of the customer? I rarely use my checkbook any more and after a long trip who has a couple hundred dollars in their wallet?! Overall I think their prices are too high and there might be better options out there... just check with your Vet for suggestions. Really poor policies can sink a business fast. read more

Dreadful having to be away from our dog for 2 months!!!! I found all the places anywhere near the Westside to be impossibly expensive! The people answering the phones not very friendly either. Also worried it would be very stressful for her to be in a large pack of dogs for that amount of time. So I remembered the place we used to board our dog aggressive Rottie at, Rancho Pet Kennels! I was happy to know Anna still running it. I also remembered Rafael there, easy to see he is very dedicated to caring for the dogs! I like this set up better for a dog to stay at while traveling because it feels safer that they each get their own run. No fighting to worry about. Yet if a household has more dogs then they stay together. It gets hot in the summer, but runs are large, clean, shaded, fresh water all day and have water misters! There are huge fenced play grounds for the dogs to exercise and get playtime. Was very impressed with what my dog looked like(fluffy & freshly bathed) and healthy when I picked her up. Also the fact that the care has remained as good over such a long time span! My Rottie stayed there several times and he was always excited when we pulled up. I give 5 stars because of my long term experience with this business, they managed to keep it as good for so long, and the fact that I wouldn't board my dog anywhere else therefore I am very comfortable recommending them to other loving dog owners that might just want peace of mind while out of town! I have been taking my dog here for boarding for the last ten years. He's not at all friendly with other dogs(and some people) so he has to go to the type of boarding place where the dogs are kept in individual runs. The staff handle him expertly. He's always healthy and happy when I come to pick him up. He likes the good sized runs they have. The runs are next to each other so he can be right close to other dogs without having the ability to bite them. This is obviously nice because it's less boring for him but still safe. I like this place and would recommend it to anyone who needs to board their pet. read more

Wish I could give 100 stars!! I have brought dogs here for boarding for the past 30 years. Anna, Rafa, Rafa's wife (sorry I don't know your name!) are the most extraordinary caring group of people. The staff goes out of their way for the animals. My older dog was having trouble standing and walking. I had to board him but I knew he would get as good of care as if I was home. Rafa made sure he ate and drank, propping him up to do so. I doubt another boarding facility would go out of their way for an animal that needed extra attention. They know each animal's little quirks and truly love them all. This is the place to bring if you want to sleep well while you have to travel. Have to add: during the fire 2018 that almost destroyed this little business, Anna and Rafa were packed and ready to evacuate with all the animals. In fact, they were eventually forced to leave. I was away when the fire broke out, but Anna took my 14 yo dog who could not walk well with her to the parking lot destination and took excellent care until I got back. Yelp really needs to make a zero stars option. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BRING YOUR PET HERE !! These people are crazy. I called mid week and asked the russian lady if I could bring my dog on Friday and pick up on Sunday. She said yes. I showed up at 5:15 on Friday and the gate was closed. I called and she said they close at 5pm "8-5 has been our hours for 35 years" (a heads up that they close at 5pm when I previously called seems like a no brainer). I said sorry I didn't know they closed at 5 and that I was planning on leaving town so could they please let me drop off my dog. She begrudgingly agreed and opened the gate and let me in. I explained to the guy that works there that I'd be back on Sunday to get my dog and he told me that if I came after 1pm I'd have to pay for an extra day. No problem I said. He told me the rate was $50 per day. Great I told him. I'll be back on Sunday after 1 but before 5 and it'll be $200, right? He said no, it'll be $250. I counted the days on the calendar with him 3 times before he finally agreed with me and said "sorry, I'm not to good at math-a-matics". So, on Sunday I return to get my dog and they are closed. I call them and the russian lady says they are closed on Sunday. I'm obviously dumbfounded because I explained in detail that I'd be back on Sunday. At this point she says "your dog is comfortable. We are closed. I will see you tomorrow" AND HANGS UP ON ME. Don't forget - I'm sitting in my car in front of this place. I call her back and calmly explain that she really needs to let me in to get my dog and that I made it very clear I'd be back on Sunday and no one told me they were closed on Sunday. After 5 minutes of back and forth she begrudgingly agrees to let me in to get my dog. When I walk in I tell her she must be out of her f***ing mind to hang up on me and hold my dog hostage. Then she tells me she didn't hang up on me. At this point I feel like I'm in the twilight zone and that I really need to get my dog and get out of there or I'm going to hurt someone. She also told me the kennels are air conditioned which is a lie cuz when I went to look at the kennels they are obviously not air conditioned. DO NOT GO HERE !!!! read more

My Jack Russell always comes home happy and healthy after staying at Rancho Pet Kennels. When we lived at the city we took her to a "luxury pet hotel" and she would come home with weird new habits from running free with other dogs and acted really strange. When she comes home from Rancho she is always happy and normal. The prices have gone up, but compared to the other Dog Hotels and Camps in the area, the prices are much more reasonable. I know the price up front, and sign for it when I drop off my dog. They don't trick you in anyway when it comes to cost. If I have requested a bath it is done early so she is ready for me when I pick her up! The owner, Anna is always friendly and remembers who I am and my dogs name. She has been running Rancho for as long as I can remember. My parents brought our family dog when I was little and Anna was always there. They make sure vaccinations are up to date and genuinely seem to care about your pet. read more

Anna & the Team at Rancho are the BEST! The atmosphere is unlike any other. The dogs are kept in outdoor shaded runs where they enjoy the fresh air all day long and when its warm out the mistes keep the dogs cool. The play yards are the best, large parcels of space where my dog gets lots of play time. Because of Rancho, I can rest easy while I'm at work knowing my pup is safe, sound, and LOVED! Won't be back. The owner is greedy, in my opinion. They have a 1:00 check out time. Was one hour late due to traffic. Owner charged me for another full day, $44 - for one hour! She wasn't interested in hearing I was delayed by traffic. Other kennels I've used allow pick up anytime during open hours and don't charge for another day unless your pet spends another night. So, she got another $44 from me for letting my dog stay for one additional hour, but she lost a customer. Do the math. read more

Boarded our lab for a couple days over the weekend. The staff was friendly and pricing was great. Staff noticed that our dog was a bit on the insecure side (being still a pup) and made put him closer to the office for more interaction when he was not out for exercising. My dog Logan was there for 9 days. I like the big runs that they have and the outdoor play pens they have set up for activity play. They do not have the dogs play together unless they come from the same home for obvious reasons. They provide Pedigree food which is what my German Shepherd eats anyway. I brought with him his own bed and toy for the inside portion of his run. The inside portion is heated during the winter, air conditioned during the summer. He came back happy to see me but rather tired as I am sure he had lots of fun barking at the other dogs around him. They do accept credit cards now as I see on the other yelper reviews said they did not. Huge plus. Will board here again. read more

I started bringing my Labrador Retriever to Rancho Pet Kennels when he has just a pup. He was one of those big labs and the large outdoor runs were perfect for him. He always came home healthy and happy. Even in his senior years, I knew he was in good hands with Anna as I knew she was keeping a close eye on him. Now I bring my cairn terrier and terrier mix pups to her and they come home happy, well groomed and totally non stressed. No kidding, they are always excited because they know they will get to run around in the "park" area and have plenty of attention. Ok, an update. everything i stated earlier i stand by. however, when i picked up my small dog, she was a pound lighter than when i took her in. i used the kennel from August 21st thru August 31. she went from 6 pounds to 5 pounds. i asked how she did when i picked her up and the owner said she did very good during her stay. then about 4 days after coming home, my dog developed a kennel cough that took 3 weeks, and antibotics and. that cost me about $400 in vet bills to take care of. so my actual experience was the opposite of the impression i got during my first visit. read more

They seem to have very low employee turnover - I've been dealing with the owner and same employees for years - and they know how to deal with dogs. Very convenient, off the 101 fwy in Agoura (on the way to the airport for me). I just boarded my three beloved dogs here for a whole week. I have never boarded them before, so I was nervous. I called the owner, Anna, a couple of times throughout the week that I was on vacation and learned that they were all healthy and fine. When I picked them up, they were all freshly bathed and in great shape. I would definitely board them here again. We have been boarding our multiple pairs of corgis here for over 20 years . We were recommended to Rancho Pet Kennels by a friend who had Great Danes and took them here for years .We like the personal care given them. Our dogs are always running out of our car to get in, which is a sure sign they are happy here and treated well. We typically take vacations in the summer months and though it gets hot in the valley, the runs are large, shaded and misted. Water is always available and the trees surrounding give a nice cool breeze. Our dogs are always healthy and clean when we pick them up.
