It's been 10 years since my last review, so I thought I should provide an update. I now see Dr. Weiss since the prior doctor retired. Same great care and service! I changed practices a couple of times due to insurance changes, but ultimately came back to this practice because the entire staff is friendly and welcoming. Dr. Weiss really knows her stuff and stays up to date. She does not hesitate to fit multifocal contact lenses, corneal refractive therapy lenses, or discuss the latest myopia control options and how they work. Dr. Weiss takes plenty of time with each patient to get to know them and answer questions. I never feel rushed as a patient or as a parent of a patient. It makes a world of difference that she interacted with my tween and teen in an engaging and approachable way to make the exams enjoyable (and not just tolerable). In addition, her office has a wide range of sophisticated diagnostic equipment available. Parking is convenient and the practice has a welcoming waiting area with a vintage vibe, shared with other healthcare practices. read more

Loved my visit. It was a wee bit hard to find but just remember it's in the parking lot BEFORE RSF Pharmacy. I especially love that my fave, Dr Witmeyer has joined this practice. She has the best bedside manner and is super thorough so I always feel like she carefully diagnosis my eyes, vision, asks great questions and makes excellent recommendations. Before I went to Dr. Lisa Weiss at Rancho Santa Fe Optometry for help, I was suffering from chronic headaches and dizziness after working on my computer. I'm taking online classes and I have to read a lot, so I was getting headaches almost everyday. It was awful! I've gone to regular eye doctors in the past and had already tried 3 different pairs of glasses, but my past prescriptions for glasses always made my headaches and dizziness worse. Eventually I would just stop wearing the glasses. My experience at her office was very pleasant and comfortable, unlike my past experiences at other eye doctors. Dr. Weiss picked up on my medical history of severe debilitating migraines and multiple concussions. She gave me a new prescription for computer and reading glasses and recommended a tint to prevent migraines. It has helped so much! Dr. Weiss also recommended her light therapy program to reduce migraines and stress. I started that treatment at home right away and it has given me a breakthrough. Dr. Lisa Weiss is an eye doctor I trust! She is knowledgeable and dedicated, exceptional among her peers. Since she is a neuro-optometrist, I think she is the best choice for anyone with headaches or dizziness related to vision. I highly recommend her if you need to get your eyes checked or have headaches from working on the computer or reading - and especially if you have tried other eye doctors who were unable to help. 5 stars! read more

I travel all the way from LA to see Dr. Christensen. She is amazing and so trustworthy. After many unfortunate experiences with other eye doctors, I went to Dr. Christensen and will never go to anyone else. Her office staff is beyond helpful. They ship my glasses to me without hesitation (since I live 2 hours away), always help me find frames that fit my budget, and are professional in every way. I trust Dr. Christensen and know she is always honest with me. Last time I came in, she let me know that my prescription had only changed a bit, so technically I didn't need glasses, but my insurance covered them in full and I wanted a second pair, so I went for it. I have loss of all central vision in one eye and had surgical repair to recover the loss of central vision in my other eye, so I need to know that my optometrist has the technology and skills to ensure I stay on top of my vision. I previous was referred to a highly recommended low vision doctor and he completely mis-diagnosed the source of some of vision issues. His shortcoming cost me three years of not driving and countless other costs that were completely unnecessary. Dr Elizabeth Christensen and her whole office staff and setting offer the highly skilled and professional care I needed. I can trust that I won't be mis-diagnosed or mis-treated again. I have a tricky eyesight to begin with, recently compounded by the changes that come with age. Dr Christensen worked hard until we got my vision working. I really don't know how she has gotten high marks from so many people. At my first visit for my child, she was an hour late without any apology. Then kept yelling at my child who just couldn't sit still anymore. Dr kept yelling which was upsetting so I told her she needed to be more patient since we were patient when she was behind schedule by an hour. She continued to be critical and rude. Then the staff kept trying to sell me frames we did not like. Dr Christensen then said she wanted us to come back in two weeks since we weren't getting frames and prescription done there so she could make sure the glasses were done right. I would rather have both my eyes poked out before I ever go to her again. read more

The best and most comprehensive eye exam I have ever had, and I have had a lot of'em! They have top of the line equipment and take their time to really check everything and explain everything to you. This team is very deceptive!!! I have one of the best insurance's available, and at the end of the visit was totally surprised to see unexpected charges on my bill and unnecessary followup appointments needed. This was not disclosed to me and have discovered that it costs me more money to use this optometrist with my insurance, than it cost me to use other optometrists before I had insurance. What an opportunist. My daughter has profound vision problems and I was referred to Christensen as a possible source of help, I took her in and explained in graphic detail what was wrong. Christensen said lets fit her with glasses first and then address the other issues. After she billed us several hundred dollars she told me she didn't have a clue about the problems I brought my daughter in for. In addition she didn't need glasses and has never used them. All she did was take the opportunity to charge for a prescription and sell a pair of glasses. How unethical can you get! Dishonest??? I think so. read more

Dr. Christensen has been in business for many years and it shows. Her staff has grown (they are always professional and courteous) and she invests in equipment/technology so that her eye exams are thorough. The doctor gives patients plenty of time to review their tests, and she has always gone the extra mile trying to assess their needs. Dr. Christensen offers a full range of contact lenses and glasses. Her product line is not inexpensive - but there are other places to grab a "deal". Her staff is always accessible for "pop-in" visits to fix screws that have gone missing, to tighten loose glasses, and provide glasses cleaners. I have availed myself of all these services, and they come with a smile. read more

From the most simple to the most complex vision issues, Dr. Christensen's office is the place to go. I've never felt comfortable selecting glasses, but with Dr. Christensen and her staff I actually enjoy the process. They're extremely helpful, guiding me toward frames that suit my face and work well with my prescription. They took the time to help me understand the impact of insurance on the timing of my purchase, putting extra time into giving me quotes from various perspectives so that I could get the most value for my dollar. A couple of years ago when my son was affected by a rare genetic disorder that causes sudden vision loss, Dr. Christensen was incredibly helpful. She guided me toward the appropriate information and resources i needed to deal with his issues, and clearly knew more about complex vision issues than most optometrists (and even some ophthalmologists). I was referred to Dr. Christensen almost a decade ago by my daughter's pediatrician. My father is an Ophthalmic Surgeon on the east coast so I'm very familiar with what to expect from a good eye doctor. I have been impressed with Dr. Christensen's professionalism, bedside manner, attention to detail and the investment she makes in state of the art equipment to provide her patients with top care. Her office staff are lovely and attentive. I have recommended Dr. Christensen to friends over the years and they have been just as pleased as I have. My family has different needs - I'm fortunate to have 20/20 vision and Dr. C never pushes products on me. My husband is legally blind and she always provides him with the best of care. Dr. Christensen has a wonderful way with children so my daughter enjoys her annual visit. Dr. Christensen runs a very efficient practice so nobody waits longer than necessary.
