I've been searching for a hair stylist who really is familiar with curly hair and is comfortable with hair cuts and I finally found my favorite in the valley! Winnie was recommended to me by my colleague at work who has known her for a while and she was very happy with her work. I was very excited to try her especially after my colleague showed me her daughter's hair cut which was done beautifully! Winnie knew exactly how to cut my hair the way I've always wanted. I showed her an old picture of mine and she said, consider it done! I've been getting a lot of compliments on my hair since then! And here we are. This is my second time at the salon in about 2 months. I went today to trim my hair and get the roots colored and I left feeling just as happy as I did the first time. Winnie is very nice, welcoming, and she charges very good prices as well. Even though the salon is very far away from my home, she is so worth the trip! Updated!! I went here to get a Keratin Treatment by Winnie! I LOVED IT! I'm an African American w/ very curly hair and she knew exactly what to do. She took very good care of my hair. She mad sure to show me and let me know everything she was doing while she was doing my hair. She was very sweet and nice and just all around easy going person. I will definitely be going back and would recommend others to go here for sure!!! It's been several weeks after my keratin treatment and I would not recommend getting a keratin treatment from this place. I don't know what's going on but my hair is slowly starting to fall out everyday. I know the average person loses 100 hair strands a day but this is way more. I can't even comb my hair or run my fingers through it without ten hairs coming off my hair. I would go here for a a hair cut and the salon is nice and clean but I would NOT get a keratin treatment from here. Excellent service! Winnie used to work at another hair salon before she bought this one. She is the new owner and she is a true artist. I came in with a friend to get a haircut and color, and she convinced me to get highlights. She set the foils, glossed my hair, shampooed, conditioned, cut, and blow dried it. The price for all that was reasonable and I'm glad I came. The process took about 2 hours. There is a private room in the back for women who cover their hair, which is so considerate and convenient. If I could give the woman who did (Whinnie) my hair 1 star OMG I would, I came in for a consult so she could look at my hair medium length back hair, she touched it looked and said she could do it. As in it I mean lighten I wanted a brownish color, anyways I wore my blue scrubs cause I was fresh out of work, the lighting processes took forever like 3 hours then i pick a honey brown, well apparently my hair took longer than she expected... she told me I was done my hair STILL WET & I was kinda like umm okay I paid and left when I got home A. She stained the entire back of my blue scrubs with bleach so those were ruined. B. I got home any blow dried my own hair just to realize it was orange not brown, my own sister in law was like that is not brown & to top it off when she lifted a piece of my hair the color was so blotchy... like horrible ... I would NEVER recommend someone to go here ... I also cut about 8 inches the next day from how damaged my hair was from the bleach . The stylists didn't know how to roll set, you were looking for damn rollers to try to do a horrible roller set job. All I was simply stating facts as for you telling me about African-American salon, I simply told you I prefer Dominican salons not Mexican salons there a big difference in region. I never stated anything about African-American salon cost too much, I've been getting my hair professional done for more than 20 years so yes, I know a few things about salon's. I didn't insulate the salon or anyone personally, I just stated facts your're salon can't handle any other ethic type hair other than Caucasian hair. Its been several months now since Winnie started styling my hair, and each time I walk out of the salon I feel and look Amazing. Winnie is a small salon, clean, and quaint, she offers coffee to her customers and is always professional. Winnie recently cut my hair short, with color, high and low lights, perfect for summer here in Arizona, many of my co-workers, friends, and family loved it and so did I. Winnie is amazing! I went for a cut and was very nervous because I have very curly hair which is tricky. I asked her opinion about a cut and she felt that leaving it long but adding more layers would be best. I agreed and it is the best cut I've ever had! The stylists are wonderful, very good at what they do, and chatty, if you want to visit with them. They offer most services, and their prices are very reasonable. Each stylist sets her own pricing, so depending on who you get, you might pay a little more or a little less. The don't take walk-in's so call and make an appointment. Most of the stylists have loyal followings -- they are that good. Don't let the little old ladies throw you off from visiting here. You can get a really good haircut for under $15, and know that it was done properly (and not a hatchet job like Supercuts or Cost Cutters). read more

I have never in my life experienced such a bad hair cut!!!! First of all my hair was so long, it touched my butt!! I go in and ask for a cut that is 2-3 inches below my shoulders. I should have walked out when I heard Winnie ask the "stylist" if she could handle the cut!! I showed her the picture and showed her on my body the length I wanted but Edward Scissor hands started chopping away!!!! I could tell right away it was way too short!! To make matters worst she cut herself and instead of putting on a band aid she simply put water on the cut and kept cutting! After what was the most painful 30 minutes of my life she shows me and I was brought to tears!! She then says to her boss "Can you come check the cut!" WTF?! Winnie comes over and I could see the dread on her face to have to explain to me what a crappy job was done!! She apologized and said "I can give you the cut you asked for but I can't give you the length you wanted I am so sorry" she then started to clean up the mess Mrs. Scissor hands did and basically gave me a hair cut all over!! Winnie apologized and gave me a certificate for a free hair cut (which I will never use) I do not know the real name of Mrs. Edward Scissor hands but if you visit this place your best bet is getting Winnie to cut your hair! read more
