Ok, this has been going on for a long time and after YEARS of trying to deal with this incompetent staff, yes even the doctor, not being professional at all, I have to complain. I went into Nixons office in 2020 for kidney stones. Was scheduled for surgery and was told that I had to pay over $300 co-pay for the anesthesiologist prior to surgery? A stint was also inserted during the surgery. Office visit was 11/24 for post op and have the stint removed. I was told at the time that the surgery turned out to be not necessary due to the kidney stones location but would probably would have been at sometime...The skin had also grown over the stint and was painfully removed (without any medication. Ouch) Now we are done with the fun part. In 2022, I received a call from a credit agency saying that I was delinquent on a bill for $778.47 to them for the surgery. I have had Blue Cross/Blue Cross for over 30 years and have never had an issue with co-pays. I called the office and they said that they did all that they would and told me to deal with the Credit Agency. That was another issue. Not pleasant people. I refused to pay the extortion due to the fact I didn't owe it until 2024. For the sake of my credit score, I paid the ransom in full. $778.47 Fast forward to 2 weeks ago The same credit agency called me to say that I owed $365.55 due from the same procedure! 6 Years ago! Ok. Now I'm mad. Office says they changed their billing from in office to having Carson Tahoe do it. THEY HAVE NO RECORDS PRIOR TO 2023 ! BC/BS has no record of a claim for the surgery anywhere. He was/is in the group. The office is rude and unhelpful when they do answer. BC/BS says they will still pay it if the claim is sent. I cannot give this Office a passing grade on anything. From the "Doctor" to Abby, the self proclaimed "Lead" of she doesn't know what, are terrible and rude. I suggested that I could come into the office to show the information I have and we could discuss it. Abby said that would be considered a "threat" if I went there. I stated I would not come and that I didn't threaten anyone and that I was again being blackmailed, this time for $346.55, I stated that I am going to stand up for my principles and defy their incompetence, limitations and shortcomings. I went to Dr Nixon for several years and the first few was actually pretty decent because he had a very capable Nurse Practitioner who could cover Nixon's inadequacies. Then Nixon operated on my ability to urinate using a new European method. The procedure failed badly on myself and the other candidates. Then the Nurse left and Nixon raised my testosterone dose and found it drove my numbers much too high, adjusted the dose downward one pump and my levels still went up too high Which in his opinion was my fault even though I rigidly followed his own prescription. So even though I was out of town he made me fly in to his office solely to inform me that he would no longer offer me Urologist services. Dr Nixon in my opinion is not ethical nor competent in any of the typical Urologist protocol and surgeries. I would recommend that you seek better professionals elsewhere. read more

This office is the absolute worst. An appointment was made in 2022 for March 2023 to see if my husbands numbers had gone up , down or stayed the same. It was Very elevated but both husband and Dr. decided to wait and see. It was an anxious year to say the least. When the appt. was almost here, they moved it to 2 weeks later...then when we get to the office they did not have him down AT ALL for a visit. Blamed it on a "new System" . She then proceeded to give him an appt. for JULY (instead of our original March date). Now they have moved it to even later.(August) The staff is so non chalant about this being as serious as it is. Too many patients for this Dr. or staff to even care. Even the office manager Danielle Ewert will not return a phone call regarding this situation. Trying to communicate with this office is almost impossible....no one answers the phone and leaving a message is pointless

Been to two or three urologists before, but Dr Nixon is the first aggressive provider always a step ahead of painful reoccurring UTI. Aggressive imaging, laboratory work and drug therapy. Also he has a warm and friendly personality. read more

Dr. Nixon is one of the best urologists in the country. It is as simple as that. Too bad the group practice (Carson Urologists, Ltd) is so poorly run. They have the worst front office and business office around. They get billing entries wrong EVERY month. It takes an eternity to straighten their errors out. We've spent ages on the phone with them trying to iron out errors and confusion in their billing system. It happens over again every month or two. meanwhile, we stick with them because of the excellent mind and surgical hands that make that practice so good. read more

Dr. Nixon is one of the most competent and caring Urologist in Carson City. He really cares about the well being of his patients and that's why he has been my Urologist for over 11 years! He is a shiny example of what a medical professional should be! I have recommended him to friends and family and have never received any negative feed back! Just had to have 2 kidney stones removed yesterday. Dr. Nixon was suppose to go on vacation this weekend and was able get me into surgery before he left! I went to Dr. Nixon for a vasectomy. I informed him I had a disability and I was extremely nervous about the surgery. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and TBI. I have full coverage medical insurance and I was reassured there would be no problem accommodating my disability. On the day of my surgery, I received a call from the surgery center asking if I would be able to pay $600 before my surgery. I immediately called Dr. Nixon's office and was informed the cost of my surgery could cost up to $4000. I would not know the total cost until after the surgery. I cancelled the surgery immediately. Two weeks later I received two bills totaling $340. At no time was I updated by Dr. Nixon's office about these charges. These practices are unfair and it is charges like these that have ruined our healthcare system and bankrupt many honest Americans. read more

Agree, the front office is just horrible. I just got yelled at by the office manager! 3 other friends who had work here said they had problems with the front office as well. Too bad, I like Nixon. I agree that Dr. Nixon is a great doctor. He explains things very well and puts it into words that you can understand. He follows medical protocol very well and doesn't jump to conclusions until he has all the facts. It is too bad, however, that the wait in the lobby takes too long. There are many fine doctors around but this guy is not one of them, especially for those who want to understand their treatment and work with the doctor. I asked to be referred to a urologist due to recurring bladder infections and apparently this is the guy who takes "routine" cases. I waited a long time after the appointment time before I was taken back. I gave a urine specimen and waited even longer. When Dr. Nixon came in he just started talking, rapidly, explaining all the things that could be wrong with me since I showed a slight trace of blood in my urine. (In the past this has been diagnosed as coming from the urethra due to weak post-menopausal tissue there.) I finally interrupted to tell him why I was there and he showed significant irritation. He then drew a little picture explaining how I might have bladder cancer and needed an exam. I think waited longer, undressed and flat on my back. When he came in he asked if I would be "cooperative." I said, "If you work WITH me," and he got mad, said, "This isn't going to work," and stomped out. I was there a total of about 2 hours. He later sent me a letter, banning me from the entire practice. read more
