The more time I spend here the more I realize this is the best gym around. It's the cleanest gym around, front desk is nice and there's a lot of options to workout and exercise. Beats every other place around. Can get crowded but pick your time and it's fine. Well run, well equipped and a great attitude. But the BIGGEST advantage? They don't screw you like EVERY other gym around. When your membership expires you renew it with no games, hassles or ripoff tactics. This is an HONEST gym. Now that's rare. When I set up an appointment to show me the exercise machines and how they work a 30 minute tour and working equipment. I don't need to hear I DONT HAVE TIME TO SHOW YOU. USE YOUR PHONE. Gym used to be a 4/5 , after covid restrictions were lifted the gym never returned to normal. Years ago the place used to be super clean and the hours were great. Now the gym closes at 8pm and the mens locker room smells like raw sewage most of the time. They don't clean the restroom areas and locker room benches are gross. Mens Sauna was closed months for because the WOMENS sauna had a part on back order and I don't think the sauna rooms have been cleaned since the building opened. The steam room and hot tub have been closed for over a year because they don't pay someone to fix it. Apparently the maintenance man that kept this place going left over a year ago and they never got a new one. Floors and walls are filthy and they charge top dollar in the area with the worst hours imaginable. 8pm close on weekdays and 1pm close on weekdays is easily the worst in the state for gyms and not even comparable to other ymcas in the county and they don't plan on changing them due to Covid allegedly. La fitness is pretty close and they actually clean their place and have hours a working individual can cut out time to work out. Also they rent out the basketball gym and swimming pool to the local high school very frequently for big bucks allegedly and they are allowed to stay after 8pm and continue to use facilities that members pay for. I gave my review a 2/5 because with proper motivation the place can be fixed with some bleach and a mop also by bringing back normal people hours. TLDR smelly ,poor sanitation, overpriced( it wouldnt be overpriced if they actually cleaned things and the place and had actual gym hours ), and awful hours read more

This is the worst summer camp. Do not enroll your kids!!! Their advertising is great but, they don't follow as they say. Every day the kids get 2 hours of movie time. They only offer 1 swimming day out of 5 to swim for 30mins. The so called Zumba class is a twerking class. Send your kids to a better program!!! read more

There's no better facility around. The place can get crowded with families at odd times, but as far as equipment goes there's no place better. Other gyms are an absolute scam in this area. MORE crowded than this and usually with some roided out loudmouths that hang on them machines or benches and don't actually work out. It's like Starbucks for people who failed the state trooper's exam or pining away for the days when 'Jersey Shore' was a big thing. I swear, the last gym in the area I went to I LOVED was the LA Fitness in Parsippany. NOT the one in Randolph, that one sucks beyond belief. But the YMCA is staffed by good people, the crowds don't smell like Drakkar Noir, and there is a chance you'll get your workout in. It's not cheap, but this place offers a LOT more than the average chain gym it's worth it. If you can find that sweet spot during the day, you're all set to go. read more

Some staff members are nice and some are extremely not. The bathrooms could be alot cleaner. Overall, the facility is not bad. Patrons are a bit older and sketchy looking at times and everyone always looks like they're in prison, but maybe that's just Randolph in general. I recently tried to set up a training session so my 12 year old daughter could work out there and it was a total pain in the ass. Not happy. read more

The pool schedules during the weekday are not very accommodating for those who work. Time slots right after 5 pm are filled with swim team, swim lessons or classes. If you just want adult fitness solo swim time, you are relegated to more off hours. That being said, the staff here is very nice and I edited my review because they went out of their way to accommodate my evening aquatic rehab need. That does say something positive about this place for sure. There is a beautiful new indoor track too in the basement with all new workout equipment. read more

Been a member here for close 20 years, but won't be renewing. Where to start with this place. First, forget if you want to go swimming in the evening, lanes belong to the swim team. Second, forget if you want to take the kids swimming, the only open times on weekends are about an hour in Saturday or Sunday. Third, gym closes at 10pm on weekdays and 6pm on Sundays, so if you can only workout late, forget about it. The only positive is the staff. read more

I have bad gym karma I have learned but so far this YMCA in Randolph has been quite okay. The yoga rooms are terrific and teachers good, the weight room is okay and sufficient (equipment is old, I had a problem with one machine, there was no one to fix the problem but ... well, its okay if you can look past that). The pools are nice but very limited times for "family swim," I wish I could access the pool more. I give the gym four stars because its a gym I can actually go to (rather than being run off by angry Y people), its fairly clean and has some okay classes. The people at the front desk are okay and don't harass you (not like that other Y in Morristown area), but you have to wait about 5 mins to be "checked over" each time you enter the gym, because they are so into confirming every detail of your card and computer linked photo when you come (Americans, how you love your "border control"!). Because *they* made mistakes on my card when they issued it, every time I come in I have to wait. I see other people waiting too. So that is something you have to live with. I have tried to fix the problem with the number on my card and the ever-changing expiration date but the staff keep assuring me it is okay, but it is then not okay the next time I come. The staff at the front desk seem like volunteers. Other advice: do not use the vending machines there. They steal your money. It is run by an outside company that is completely unresponsive. The staff at the Y also hate those vending machines. read more

This review is not about the gym itself but the spin class. The facility is nice overall but if I could give the spin class negative stars I would. Seriously the worst class of my life. If you can't afford to invest in real spin bikes that gauge speed, resistance and effort, then don't offer spin. There is no speaker system so you can barely hear the instructor yell out meaningless directions that cannot he effectively implemented with the crappy bikes. People were peddling furiously on segments where they were meant to be on heavy hills. No one was doing the same thing. We were told it was an hour but cool down started with 7 minutes of class left. This overall is not a knock on the instructor as there was not much she could do. Though I was annoyed that I was struggling with adjusting my antiquated bike and she didn't help me even as she helped others. I had to rely on the kindness of another Good Samaritan in the class to assist. Bottom line: avoid this class at all costs!!! Biggest waste of $15 (guest pass) ever!!! read more

I signed up to this place to basketball. I workout at a better gym so I signed up for basketball. It seems that every day I go to play there's always something wrong. The other day it closed at 6. Today, "the curtains needed to be repaired" the thing about it is that they could have repaired them before they opened. So this place is ok, kinda dirty but it's decent. Definitely not worth the money that you have to pay. It's equivalent to playing at an outdoor court will it's dark and raining. read more

This is primarily a gym so it should be categorized under fitness and gyms, not daycare, first of all. Decent equipment, fairly clean, and a huge offering of classes. If you go mornings from 7 to 8am, lots of seniors talking loudly in extended conversations in the main equipment room over the noise of the running machines, which can be a bit distracting, but the morning members are a much friendlier bunch than the after work crowd who seem on the rude side, don't hold doors, and have long conversations on cell phones while on the treadmill, etc. Morning staff is generally much nicer than evening staff. Downside for me is the music because it is so not uplifting and completely inappropriate for working out. Music is 70's rock, all the time. Slow rock usually. I have put in several requests in their suggestion box to play upbeat music that every other gym in America plays that will motivate other gym members during workouts but it goes unchanged. I go to this gym because my boyfriend lives in the area, but otherwise i would find another gym that plays better music as i don't like to damage my eardrums playing my ipod, which i am compelled to do to block out the slow rock. i have been a member of many gyms in my life and this is the one and only gym i have ever gone to that plays this genre of music for its customers. I do like this type of music outside of a gym setting but it is incredibly hard to work out to Led Zeppelin and the like. It is so slow that Phil Collins music would be more motivating. My other gripe is that no one else brings a lock so I routinely open 15 lockers before finding an empty one in which to put my stuff. read more
