My wife's parents highly recommended this place, so we decided to meet them here while we were in the area. It's located in what appears to be a historic building right on Main Street in Brownsville, OR. There are two entrances, but when we arrived, there was a note directing guests to use the Main Street entrance. We showed up in the early afternoon, which was after breakfast service ends at 11 a.m. That left us choosing from their lunch offerings--sandwiches, salads, and soups. There are about ten sandwich options plus a "create your own," several salads, and a couple of soup choices. The atmosphere is very laid-back. You order at the counter, and they bring your food out when it's ready. Despite the relaxed vibe, the place was quite busy. We saw a steady stream of people coming and going, and the four or five indoor tables were occupied most of the time we were there. As a group, we ordered a variety of sandwiches, a salad, and a bowl of soup--and everything exceeded our expectations. The soup was incredibly thick, almost like a casserole. The sandwiches were hearty and filling, and the salad was fresh and perfectly prepared. We enjoyed every bite and would absolutely return. They also have ice cream and huckleberry milkshakes (We absolutely love huckleberry milkshakes) in another area of the building, which were very tempting--but we managed to resist this time. read more

Amazing food and people! Everything is home made. I had a turkey sandwich with avocado and a blueberry scone. The scone was honestly the best I've had in many different states and bakeries. Love their sandwiches, they are made with homemade bread. Lots of veggies on it if you want them. The price is very reasonable, I think they are $11 and my husband and I always split it because they are so big, with lots of meat. Service is very good, and the place is clean. Outrageous fresh cinnamon rolls made in-house daily. Also breads are baked in-house, available in loaves and used to make great fresh sandwiches. Soups are always solid. Local landmark in historic Brownsville on main road into town. FYI: Local speed limits are slow and slower coming into town and enforced ruthlessly. If you are looking for a nice place w/ a small time feel & AMAZING cinnamon rolls, this is it! We watched Randy making the next batch of cinnamon rolls which was a nice side benefit. The Mocha wasn't overly sweet, which was really nice. This is not your slick upscale city cafe, which suits me fine. Unlike some other reviewers, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the old-timers talking around the table with their coffee. I think it adds to the charm. The only drawback was the young girl who served us. She was just a bit too grumpy, though I have to give her props as it was easy to see she was trying be pleasant. I want to give 4.5 stars but since the system won't let me, I will round it up to 5. After a 45 mile bike ride from Eugene, it's nice to find a sandwich shop open after all the other cafes have closed. This cafe is on the main strip of the quaint town and is staffed by welcoming individuals. They bake their own goods and even mill their own flour in the back. Sandwiches are simple and satisfying. Already five stars, and I'm still waiting for my food. This is the ONLY place I've ever been to where every single item is perfect. The homemade menu items look absolutely delicious and fresh. Better than I've ever seen. The atmosphere and ambience, the charm, etc.... Wonderful. Ok, I'm eating my apple cinnamon cake now, and its really fresh and homemade tasting... not too sweet. My GF said just now, "Its so down home, and its not at all pretentious." Definite 5 stars! The owner is rude and unprofessional. He made a scalding hot drink for a child and then yelled at his cashier for not telling him, even though she did! Every time I've come here he is unreasonably rude to someone in my party, this time he hurt one of my kids. We'll be visiting the drive thru coffee place down by Dari Market from now on. Yum! Drove down to Brownsville from I-5 instead of stopping at the truck stop. Walked in the door and fresh baked bread was sitting on the counter with a giant pan of homemade coffee cake.
