My wife's parents highly recommended this place, so we decided to meet them here while we were in…read morethe area. It's located in what appears to be a historic building right on Main Street in Brownsville, OR. There are two entrances, but when we arrived, there was a note directing guests to use the Main Street entrance. We showed up in the early afternoon, which was after breakfast service ends at 11 a.m. That left us choosing from their lunch offerings--sandwiches, salads, and soups. There are about ten sandwich options plus a "create your own," several salads, and a couple of soup choices. The atmosphere is very laid-back. You order at the counter, and they bring your food out when it's ready. Despite the relaxed vibe, the place was quite busy. We saw a steady stream of people coming and going, and the four or five indoor tables were occupied most of the time we were there. As a group, we ordered a variety of sandwiches, a salad, and a bowl of soup--and everything exceeded our expectations. The soup was incredibly thick, almost like a casserole. The sandwiches were hearty and filling, and the salad was fresh and perfectly prepared. We enjoyed every bite and would absolutely return. They also have ice cream and huckleberry milkshakes (We absolutely love huckleberry milkshakes) in another area of the building, which were very tempting--but we managed to resist this time.

The employees make sure to recommend yummies & make certain you're satisfied with your choice! There are not many spaces to sit and eat. So you might want to order to take back to your home or hotel! Hint: Get a cinnamon roll (what they are known for for)

Alright. Divine…read moreCoffee and Ice Cream is very close to my current house. In face, every time I head to the interstate, I drive right by it. This occurs most every day. Being so close to home, and me being highly addicted to caffeine, this was one of the first places I checked out when I moved here. The shack is owned by two sisters, and they have a few part time employees that help fill in the gaps. Both of the sisters are friendly and can remember your order if you've been there a couple of times. I like when this happens. The structure itself is a tiny coffee shack in the parking lot of a Dairy Mart. There are two windows to drive up to, however, one is much more popular than the other for reasons I cannot imagine. I have seen the more popular of the two windows have a line of cars, and rather than just swing around to the other, open, window, a car will choose to wait in the line instead. This is mind-boggling. But on to the review. Standard issue espresso drinks and whatnot are standard issue quality. Good, reliable, nothing flashy or fancy. With one exception. The Chocolate Malts are INSANELY good. Seriously. I have come to the conclusion that they have formulated some super secret crack-like substance that makes these things irresistible. Depending on who your barista of the day is, you will either get a stick-a-fork in it thick malt or the normal can-suck-through-straw malt. I actually really like the super thick version. Also, depending on who your barista is, you will get a small second cup of malt overflow from the blender. This is usually just a little bit that makes almost the perfect child-size serving. No charge. It may be out of the way for most non-locals, but just for the Chocolate Malts, I'd say it is well worth the detour off I-5.
