As soon as I walked in, I was greeted right away with a big, welcoming smile...it set a fantastic tone for the entire meal. I ordered the goat roti, and it is truly massive! I appreciate that they provided the rich gravy on the side, which is a lovely touch to pour over my roti. The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious and open. They had plenty of room to comfortably seat people. The roti itself, even at the mildest level, had a pleasant little kick to it, which I absolutely loved. It was incredibly flavourful, and the seasoning was spot on. The potatoes and the goat meat were both so tender they just melted in my mouth. Nothing like spicing up a hot day than with a Chicken Roti, am I right? I've been on a bit of a Caribbean cuisine kick lately it seems. I'm not mad about it. This little spot is located in a plaza and quite frankly looks like a simple spot from the outside. For $9, the Chicken Roti was delicious and HUGE. It was filled with potato, curry spices, and the chicken of course. My only real comment on the food was that I would have preferred something a bit more spicy and parts of the chicken were a bit dry. Overall the flavour was great though and you could tell it was made fresh. I would definitely return here to try pretty much anything else on the menu! read more

I am a big lover of Rotis and have tried a fair amount of places across GTA. This isn't the place which satisfies my cravings. I tried chicken roti with medium spice but it had too many potatoes and less chicken. Also. Chicken used was kind of pulled chicken. Not good. The good roti places use chicken thighs. read more

Discovered this place way back a few years ago but kind of forgot about it. I had been on a kick to try oxtail and was searching all around my area and just happened to fall upon this tiny restaurant again as I was in the area. I was very happy with my findings, the oxtail is super tender and just falls apart. You get very little bones in the actual dish, and the dish itself is huge. The gravy that it's stewed in is mouth watering and the rice and peas and potatoes and great as well. I don't eat the roti but I was told that there are better so I'm not sure. My only con is that when I ask for gravy on the side it is very oily compared to other restaurants, it tastes great but very oily. read more

I've had their Tandoori chicken about three times and I think it's great. I still need to explore other options on their menu, but so far I'd recommend Ranee's to other people if their looking for some reasonably priced Caribbean food. I decided to try this place out since my coworker told me that they had gluten free options. I ordered the chicken curry over rice and peas. It came over rice and kidney beans (maybe the sign was wrong?). Anyways, the portion was massive - rice, potato, chicken. The rice lasted me three meals total since I brought the leftovers home. The woman working the front desk was distracted and cut me off several times mid sentence to talk to someone behind me, which I felt was quite rude - but the food was good so whatevs. In terms of gluten free, all of the meats were available as gluten free curries over rice. No upcharge but probably more expensive than regular lunches since the gluten free meals are classed as "dinners". I paid $11 and it was a ton of food - pretty decent for oakville. read more

I have been all over Brampton looking for a better roti. It doesn't exist. Ranee's is the best. No question.

Really good Rotis. Have had both chicken and goat. The dhalpourie is fresh and not too chewy, the curry had an abundance of meat not just potato. Large size roti for $8 was a bargain. There are several other Roti shops in Oakville and Burlington, but this one is my favourite. read more

Had both goat and chicken roti to go, took a few min. To make. Goat was a bit dry but chicken was great, potion was good but wish there was a bit more meat then potato. They suppose to take debit but the girl said their machine is not working but they got an ATM in store for me to use. When I tried to use it it said communication error. Then she offered me to try using debit and it worked?!? I find it so weird!!! read more

We really like Ranee's. Food is great. Doubles are the best in the GTA!! The only thing I would ask for is more chicken than potato in the Roti. Last couple of times it was about 90 percent potato. I know these owners seem really caring and I hate to post anything negative but it's tough when you drive a distance to such a great restaurant and look forward to their roti. Probably the worst West Indian food I've had. The kidney beans were dry. The veggie meal didn't have much variety as they advertised. It's very strong in curry taste. It's more Indian food then West Indian. The doubles were inedible. Will not be returning and it's no wonder why they have such a low rating. But then again West Indian food is hard to come by in Oakville. read more

Super nice staff. Food was authentic. Made to order and it was ready in a timely fashion. You could get roti in mild medium and hot. I love spice but went with the medium (and pepper sauce in the side) just in case. It was definitely the right choice. Spice was awesome. The only complaint I would have, which is why I rated 4 instead of 5 is that we got 1 vegetarian roti which states eggplant, tomatoes, chick peas etc and it only have cabbage, carrot and broccoli. The review below is correct with being able to smell the spices from OG; this could be a good or bad thing, depending if you like strongly scented food. Small resto with a couple dine in tables. I have had my share of West Indian roti's growing up in Mississauga. And in my adult life living downtown Toronto. I have to say that Ranee's is my favorite​ spot for goat and chicken roti to date. And it's in Oakville out of all places! I cannot even fathom how someone would leave a 1 star based on the food for this place. I have not tried anything else there, so I am judging just based on the two roti's I always order. The goat roti is miles better than​ anything else I have tried (and I tried many). The meat is full of flavor and soft which means it has been cooking for a while. And it's a great value for the portion. The gravy on top is a nice touch, but the inside has plenty of sauce so I like it without the gravy. Plus it's easier to take home if you can't finish. I have not tried Kori's, so can't compare but all the big spots downtown and in Mississauga growing up, were far inferior. The ambiance​ is not really something you will find there but the owner is sweet and is always nice to me. This place would do well in the city.... I can only wish. read more
