BEWARE: ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK If my memory serves me well, this is the first time ever that I've given an establishment a 1 star rating ... and these are the reasons why: They were seriously understaffed in the kitchen - specially knowing that it was Mother's Day There were 4 of us and we chose to order one starter between us so that we could save our appetite for the mains The Bang Bang Broccoli took one hour to arrive... yes- ONE HOUR During this time we were told just how many cocktails would not be available because they were out of some ingredients ( and this was at 1:30pm on Mothers Day ) - but I must say they had water available and they served that at lightning speed Then 45 minutes after our appetizer arrived and after asking our server and anyone on the staff that we could speak to, one of the 4 mains arrived...which self respecting restaurant would: 1. Take so long to serve the food with any explanation whatsoever? 2. After such a delay, bring only one of the four dishes that were ordered? By this time we were ready to leave but eventually got the other 3 mains and had them packed and took them back home - since our daughter had to drive back to London to be there at 6pm - which she thought would give all of us enough and more time to have a nice leisurely lunch with a reservation for 1pm ... clearly Community Restaurant had other plans Now comes the kicker... as we were heading out I told one of the servers to please tell the owner that if this is how he/she runs a business it would shut down pretty quickly - to which she replies: You're right, this has been sold and will change hands in 2 weeks Good riddance And no thanks for upsetting my daughter who wanted to make the day special for her mother read more

A celebration event and family surprised us to this previously untried restaurant. Of the two staff on duty none of them acknowledged our presence even though they were few feeta away from and us and were not attending a customer. Took a good while to make us sit in a half empty restaurant. The food came pretty quickly and service was just OK after that. The interior is nice. The coffee we started was very weak and lukewarm warm. We asked for a refill and the refill was the same as well. Hollandaise Benny was good, the Just egg perhaps cooked from the frozen ready was good. The Impossible/Beyond Sausage was good. The Hollandaise sauce was well made. Disappointed with the home fries quantity - very few. The Chik'n Burger made from Oyster Mushroom was very good. Crunchy outside and shredded mushroom to give a chicken texture. Just too greasy for us. Again the fries very few - the plate looks empty and not filling for us. IMO not good enough value for almost $25 all in. The Chik'n and Waffles, same Chik'n as the burger good. The 3 piece (?) waffles were great. The fries still less, however there some salad as well. Good restaurant, OK service. We stopped by here for dessert and everything is vegan, which is fantastic! I tried the Rolo Cake, which is both dairy and gluten free. It was absolutely the best gluten and dairy free cake I have ever had. It was rich and full of chocolate goodness. I haven't had caramel in years and the caramel tasted like it was real. It featured a fake rolo on top that was to die for. I can't describe how wonderful this cake was except, you have to try it. Even the frosting was amazing and normally frosting does not taste that good. The I also enjoyed the beverage called rose dream. It was made with coconut milk and rose water. It tasted delicious. What a disaster. Came here to enjoy some quality vegan food... don't get me wrong, the food was unbelievable, but the service was shitty and non-existent. We sat down at a table that had nothing but menus on it. We ordered our food and asked for water twice before they brought it to us. Nachos came out first and the server said "be right back with the small sharing plates" and never to be seen from again. So we eat our nachos with our hands (no napkins or utensils yet). Then as our food arrives, the person that was coming from the kitchen just took away the nachos before we could get a fork to finish the rest of it without even asking. We also had to ask him for utensils because our server never showed up at our table ever again until the bill. And you know the worst part? They charge a mandatory 15% tip saying they "stand by their service"... what a joke. To top it all off, there was no towel papers in the bathroom to dry your hands (no blow dryer either) and the servers were just standing around in the back chatting... My friend and I were driving home from a day at Niagara and wanted a vegan/gluten free friendly place to have dinner. Community Restaurant's menu was very enticing and was on the way home. We called ahead and they were kind enough to take us in at 8:15pm. I think the kitchen closes at 9pm. We arrived and were immediately greeted and seated. The decor is beautiful inside and it was empty so it wasn't noisy at all which we prefer. My friend ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap which she enjoyed a lot and it was a huge portion which she enjoyed again once we got home. One of the reason's I chose this place was the Truffle Gnocchi on the menu. At first I was told that they had no more Gnocchi, however they managed to find some which was great! Appreciated this by the kitchen staff! The food came out hot and fresh, and the Truffle Gnocchi was steaming. It looked delicious, however the plate was huge! It was listed under 'Large Plates' but I did not expect the portion to be as huge as it was. It could definitely be shared with 2-3 people. Unfortunately, where I wasn't too happy was the fact that my dish was extremely hot (temperature wise) that I couldn't enjoy it. I spent more time picking and blowing at it non-stop because it was that hot; what's the point of going out to eat if the meal is tongue burning hot! The other critique I have is that the sauce was too much! I had to take my dish to go because I couldn't finish the whole thing and there was a lot of sauce left over. This is not only a waste but a waste of money to the restaurant. So just a bit of input, less is more. If the portion had not been so huge with all that sauce, I could've indulged in one of their yummy desserts. I recommend serving a smaller portion with less sauce and that way people can have room for dessert. The dish was $25.00. If it had been smaller, and let's say $15.00 (which is the go to in Toronto, so I was shocked the price was so high in Oakville) customers can then can have room for dessert and if the dessert is $10, you're still making profit and not wasting food which is money down the drain for the business. I would return again if I was in the area and try something new. The left overs tasted just as tasty the next two days as it did when I ordered it, so that's an upside to the large portion. The flavours were there, the fries on my friends dish were crispy and tasty and the staff was friendly and attentive. Thanks for having us! Second time to this establishment - first time was pre-pandemic and was not a good experience. Decided to give them a second chance giving the time lapse. Definitely could have been better. Saturday Brunch menu. I had the Just Egg Benny - experienced chefs can do so much with Just Egg (liquid) and other vegan egg options - but this item just had the frozen Just Egg folded patty (which I make at home in a toaster). Hollandaise was sparse; "Homefries" were regular fries with spicy coating; salad was wilty and the lettuce ends were brown. But the Benedict was tasty... so that's good. Husband had the tacos and enjoyed them. Sister had a Breakfast Burrito; served with a side of the same "Homefries" as I had (i.e., spiced-up fries); however, the breakfast burrito had the same "Homefries" inside the burrito as well - that's a lot of fries pretending to be "Homefries". One child had a bowl of penne with just butter - about a cup of cooked penne (paid $13 for what is probably 1/2 Cup of dried penne - I could have bought 10 lbs of dried penne for this price). Other two children asked for nachos with the cheese & sour cream topping. We specifically asked that there be NOTHING else on the Nachos - thinking that they might garnish with scallions as I've seen at other restaurants. Server acknowledged this. Nachos came out with both scallions on top and roasted red peppers throughout. We sent those back and again asked for JUST NACHOS - no scallions and no red peppers (which were not noted on the menu. One serving of Nachos came out as we asked; the second serving was obviously the one we sent back with with the visible red peppers removed - there were many more buried under the visible nachos - so they appeared to have just hand-picked off the visible red peppers instead of plating a fresh batch. My son also asked for fries - so I asked for a serving of fries - but was sure to state "just plain fries, no spicy topping like on the ones I got"... it's for a young child who wants plain food. Fries came out with lots of oregano/herbs tossed into the bowl. I raised this with the server and inquired if they've ever served young children at this place - a lot of young children just want PLAIN foods. Anyway, apologies were provided and a new bowl of fries were set on the table and those were enjoyed by my son. A manager spoke to us afterward about our experience - so I do appreciate that. He removed the automatic 15% gratuity that is added to the bill in lieu of manual tipping. He also removed the cost of the nachos and the fries. I didn't at that time notice the $13 for the cup of plain penne - oh well. For the cost of the food, I do not recommend this establishment. Definitely don't take children who do not yet have a discerning palate. There are many other restaurants in Oakville offering amazing plant-based foods and service to boot. That said, I did like the paint/decor of the restaurant. Good luck to them. They definitely have a mixture of amazing reviews and poor reviews. We went durin Taste of Oakville and was able to get a prefixed menu plus added a bunch of other dishes so we could try as much of the menu as possible! Here is what we tried and my rating: 1. Community salad 10/10: very refreshing 2. Butter tofu 7/10: mild flavour, wish it was stronger 3. Caramel Cheesecake 10/10: doesn't taste like cheesecake but it's so good! More like a Nanaimo bar 4. Truffle gnocchi 10/10: strong mushroom flavour, but I quite enjoyed it. Also super creamy 5. Carrot cake 8/10: first bite I thought it was amazing, especially because carrot cake is my favourite. Food is amazing, i always enjoy my meals whenever I go, they have really good vegan food and a good twist to cream cheese frosting that makes it taste just as good as regular cream cheese if not better. The only reason i couldn't give them a 5 star review is because of their booking system because I always have a problem with it of the three times that i went. The first time, i was told on the phone my reservation was booked and i could come in anytime around 12-4 which was weird on its own. When i arrived, they didn't have my reservation put in even though i called a week ago for my moms birthday. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long for a seating. The second time, we called again and they mentioned they would call us back to confirm our reservation, however, we never got a call back about the booking and didn't end up going The third time, we made a reservation online and i got a call the day of asking if i could come 30 minutes before my reservation because they need the table back in 1 hour. It ended up fine because when i mentioned i would be cancelling my reservation because i couldn't make it, the person who called said i could keep my original time. Feel like bar-fare, but feelin' way too fat/guilty to eat another grease-laden meal? Community may be the answer to that problem! Interior looks gorgeous, but seeing how it was a nice day out - and COVID still raging - I sat outside on their patio which, btw, is nice. You really don't feel as though you're eating on the sidewalk in Kerr Village. Food may be vegan, but they still have alcohol on the menu! Menu consisted of salads, bowls, wraps/sandwiches, pastas, burgers, crab cakes, etc. And yes, it is a bit on the pricey-side. A standard lunch plate will be ~$20 on its own, but they make everything from scratch. I ordered the Pulled BBQ Shiitake Mushroom Burger and my friend ordered the Classic Burger (w/ Impossible Patty) and I preferred the Classic Burger over the "Mushroom Burger". (Classic Burger tasted like a Big Mac.) I guess since the menu said "pulled", I was expecting shredded mushrooms, resembling pulled pork texture, but it was just pieces of sliced mushrooms in a tasty BBQ sauce. Btw, that sauce definitely had a KICK to it if you're sensitive to spice! I think the owner came by to chat, refill waters, give the bills, and she seemed really hands-on in her business. I really enjoyed that aspect of the meal. My other friend at the table had Crab Cake Burgers which apparently replicated the real thing in taste and texture. I'd say that even meat-eaters would enjoy the food here as it had flavour with a menu full of comfort foods. (Impossible patty fooled me!) Great also if you're interested in dabbling in vegan food, but the thought of chewing on grass doesn't appeal to you! read more

So I was wandering around Oakville looking for a place to get a snack...drove by this place on Kerr st . And figured I would give it a try. It has a nice bistro feel to it. Clean with a touch of retro. Simple but nice. So here is the catch.. I was on the mood for a steak frites...but Community is a Vegetarian restaurant..yeah..me in a vegetarian place..anyway I figured why not? Ordered a whiskey sour. Good cocktail menu with a few nice selection options. Surprisingly good and just the right hint of sour. I ordered the crab cakes and Channa masala for eats. The crab crab cakes actually tasted like crab cakes. I thought it would tastes like bland sawdust..lol I'm a meat eater..so ... Channa masala was cooked nicely too. Just the right hint is spice. So this place is new..but I think it has potential to be a good spot in oakville for cocktails and bites. I will keep an eye on this place and see where it goes. But I reccomend you give it a try. Rating 4.5 Nice interior, parking in the back and on the street. Friendly staff but slow as they are still new and training wait staff. The chef is from Planta and they make their own non dairy milk, yogurts, sauces and desserts. We had the juice mocktails. One son had the carrot creamsickle drink and enjoyed it. My other son and I found the mojito mocktail in the sour side. Hubby enjoyed a negroni. We started with tempeh meatballs (the sauce was good but the crostini is not gf), crab cakes (not gf but tart and delicious), and guacamole (bland) and 3 different kinds of chips. Hubby had the gnocchi (not gf) which was rich and tasty. Both boys had the gourmet beyond burger with truffle fries and gravy. It was all great and very filling. I had the sweet & spicy tofu lettuce cups. This was awesome....spicy and a nice peanut sauce. Their homemade hot sauce is crazy spicy. Take a little at a time. To be honest I ordered from here and had a problem with my meal. I spoke to the owner Alka who was genuinely apologetic and advised all the steps her staff are doing to rectify it. She came personally to drop off a replacement meal on my birthday which was such a nice touch. She is extremely personable and knowledgeable on all accords. They are able to accommodate all my dietary needs with ease such as gluten free, soy free, no canola oil or nutritional yeast. The jalapeno bacun cheezy pasta is just silly good. It is our our favourite dish I have no idea how they make that sauce but its insane. If you dine there you just HAVE to order it. There is a reason thats the only menu on the item with a STAR next to it on Ubereats. The sage truffle gnocchi is so moutherwatering good. I love that everything is made from scratch and with high quality ingredient. The prices are a tiny bit higher but you get quality ingredients and a fine dining experience which is pretty hard to find from a vegan restaurant. My family and I (5 total) ordered the crab cakes, butter tofu, truffle gnocchi, and mac & cheese. They were amazing - the butter tofu is just like an authentic Indian curry, and the "yoghurt" that tops it was a wonderful touch. The truffle gnocchi has a beautiful thick gravy-like sauce, and has numerous rich mushrooms and vegetables with the fresh gnocchi. The mac & cheese has a lovely topping, adding a nice crunch. The crab cakes were fairly comparable to actual crab cakes, despite being made with a vegan crab substitution. Our only issues were that the crab cakes are fairly pricey ($14) for only two cakes, and the tofu pieces in the butter tofu are a bit large. They'd be better served in smaller pieces, so that they can absorb more of the curry itself, and be a bit easier to eat. read more

COMMUNITY is fantastic new place on Kerr Street in Oakville. My wife and I asked our server to recommend some healthy dishes that the two of us could share and they were all incredibly tasty and beautifully presented by the very warm and friendly servers. We had Mojito Mocktails, Guacamole Timbale, Daikon Slaw, Sushi Roll, Scallop Cassoulet and Chai Lattes for dessert. The owners were so cool and engaging. They made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The food is FANTASTIC. The service is always on point ( Quinn is not only efficient but a wealth of knowledge when it comes to food and nutrition). Decor is clean and calming. Hubby and I come often and have tried pretty much everything on the menu and have yet to find something we don't like! Hail to Cesar is my favourite and hubby can even find deliciousness with his keto vegan ways. We don't drink cocktails but wine is acceptable and the coffee is the best! Stopped in for Sat. night dinner with daughter and husband. Fabulous vegan food lovingly made from scratch. We LOVED the fries. Best ever! I had gnocci which was heavenly and very filling. My non vegan husband had the burger which he thought was great. Daughter thought the casear wrap was incredibly delicious. Our drinks were wonderful; I especiallyt loved my basil/cucumber soda. So refreshing on a scorching day. The music was not too loud and one can easily hold a conversation. Table spaced far apart for privacy and there is a very long table to seat a huge party. The service was fast and efficient and very friendly. One of the owners as well as the chef stopped to chat. We were not at all rushed; they were as lovely as could be and I encourage all to try this new vegan restaurant soon before the line ups prevent you from being able to get a table. read more

A 'Shared' avocado dip plate with an eventual bill close to $40 with tip did not represent good value for our midday snack in my humble opinion. Community has amazing food if you are vegan or not - I'd challenge anyone not to fall in love with their food! Community burger is our take-out favourite, with rolo cake to finish. Eating-in, the truffle gnocchi or buttered tofu, with their wonderfully curated drinks menu, creates a gastronomic night out! The service is second-to-none & the decor in the restaurant, with the voluptuous velvet seats, makes for a stylish & super comfy dining experience. We first went for dinner about a week ago and loved it so much we had to return within a few days to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We got to try several dishes as we shared them all. The lettuce cups, flatbread, gnocchi and pumpkin torte were among some of our favourites although you can't go wrong with whatever you order as the food is so fresh and healthy. This place is the real deal. Warm and friendly service earns their name, you feel like part of a local community. The space is light and airy, well decorated and very clean. The food is some of the best brunch I've ever had. They told us that they make everything in house, and you can really tell they do. The French toast and omlette are highly recommended. Been here multiple times as we love this place. This time we ordered our usual fare: Pancakes and the omelette which we share. Was shocked and disappointed to see that the portion of the Omelette was a quarter of the size from before for the same price! We were told that the portion was reduced because there was wastage before. Not true IMO, and if that's the case inform the guest and/or reduce the price! We went with a huge appetite after a workout as we had expected the "usual" portion. Shocked because the cost was the same and when we chose the gluten free option they just did not serve the bread, but did not reduce the cost or substitute for anything else. That was disappointing, truly. Sneaky, if I may add (The second picture is exactly half the omelette from the "new" menu, the potatoes have just been moved and not eaten yet!
