And wait, with no explanation or apology. After 70 minutes I went up front and informed them that I had to go to work. No apology or evidence of concern. I explained that I had taken X rays and asked if I could do a virtual visit in the near future. No. "Dr. Cooper doesn't do virtual visits". I said can you send my data to another Medstar doctor. "No, you have to start again as a new patient" I will see a Fairfax doctor. I wish I had read the other Yelp reviews.

It included a telehealth consultation by the doctor, who conveyed the results of laboratory testing. The doctor (Dr Gulati) further explained the particulars of my medical condition. The office environment was pleasant and the staff were very friendly and helpful. In summary, I received excellent care here and am grateful to have been referred to this practice.

Then they charged me $50 for being a "no show" at my original appointment day. I told them I had changed the appointment day and I refused to pay the "no show" fine. I wrote a letter to the doctor explaining why I would not pay the fine. But I still am getting monthly bills for $50 from this practice. When I went for another appointment, the checkin clerk told me I owe $50. Dr. Mendelsohn is a competent doctor. But it appears that this practice has been bought by a hedge fund and is interested only in fees.

I would not recommend Dr. Mendelsohn and this practice at all. For many reasons which I'll list…read morehere: 1) There are multiple names for this practice at this location: 1313 Dolley Madison Blvd Suite 403, McLean, VA 22101. Text messages state "Foot & Ankle Specialist of the Mid-Atlantic", Building sign is "McLean Foot and Ankle Center", and website says "Family foot & Ankle Specialist." Which makes it super confusing to find but easy to cover up when patients have a bad experience and want to leave an honest review. A little digging and I see previous bad reviews on google and the claim is that "Family Foot and Ankle closed in 2021." Well why is the website still up and I can make an online appt with Dr. Mendelsohn and other podiatrist??? At the very least, change your website if this practice has indeed been closed since 2021. They have been gaslighting other patients when they get bad reviews. That's my first red flag. 2) The X-ray machine was old and wobbly. When I went to get an xray for my foot, I had to hold it in place so it would not keep moving. 3) Nobody answers the phone at this practice to be able to ask questions or make appointments. Called about a dozen times over 2 weeks and went to voicemail every time. Had to finally schedule an appt online to pick up my orthotics and didn't have correct option for why I needed to visit. 4) Received multiple text messages and emails nagging me to a pay for a bill for orthotics that had not yet been delivered. The link to pay also did not give an itemized invoice to state what I was paying for. I am not going to pay a bill via an email or text message for things without enough details to ensure it is not a scam nor will I pay for an item that has not been delivered. Poor business practice. 5) It's also ridiculous that I have to pay a $50 Co-pay to come and pick up ordered product when Dr. Mendelsohn barely did anything to ensure fit aside from cutting it to size (which i could have done at home). He did not check to see my stance or my walking gait. He did not check for any areas of pressure or discomfort and make necessary adjustments to ensure the orthotic provides optimal support and comfort and to see if the correction was suitable. I was rushed in and out. He literally spent less than 5mins w/ me and handed me paper with info on orthodics. 6) Had to repeatedly ask for an itemized invoice and receipt to be able to use for HSA account reimbursement and was only given a printed out ledger. Then the office manager argued with me that it should work fine for HSA reimbursement. I know it won't for my HSA reimbursement b/c I've tried multiple times with other ledgers from other practices and have always been denied. Honestly, I spent more time trying to get an invoice than I did getting seen by Dr. Mendelsohn. 7) My feet still hurt and I refuse to waste my time and money going to a practice that does not answer phones, has shady business practices, and the Dr. rushes you in and out. Bottom line: WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES, INSUFFICIENT MEDICAL CARE, I DO NOT TRUST A THING THEY SAY.

After my visit w/ Dr. Dombrowski, I felt compelled to write this review. If you dont have time to…read moreread the whole review, bottom line is that he is AMAZING - best doc I have seen for neck and back problems EVER. He listened, encouraged questions, cared and came up w/ a plan that did not initially involve injections. He prescribed 2 medications and they have made a world of difference in my neck - I can hardly belive that it could feel so normal again. In addition to being an experienced and caring doctor, his breath and depth of knowledge is remarkable and his personality is exceptional. He made me feel so comfortable, encouraged questions and never made me feel rushed. Seven months ago I woke up w/ a neck problem so extreme that I could barely take a step without feeling severe pain. My PCP prescribed a medication that was too strong for me - it got rid of the pain AND my memory. Flash forward 7 months. During the 7 months of neck pain I met with a Physical Therapist who has helped me w/ exercises for various aches and pains over the years. This time w/ the exercises giving no relief and the neck pain so severe, I gave up and decided I would probably need cortocosteroid injections. I had an MRI and made an appointment w/ an Orthopedic Surgeon my PCP recommended. I had a folder with the recent cervical MRI and all the doctor's notes and reports from visits to previous doctors. The Orthopedic Surgeon had me take additional Xrays in his office. He immediately recommended I see a doctor for cortocosterioid injections in my neck. He didn't spend more than 7 minutes in the examining room and most of the time with his BACK to me -it was an odd experience. I tried to see the doctor he recommended but her staff made so many mistakes in making the appointment, telling me I had an appt on March 31, then after receiving many confirmation requests from them, when I called to ask a question, was told I didnt have an appt till April 7. I called again to ask about get injections and was told I did have a March 31 appt. It was all more than I wanted to deal with and canceled with her. I feel so fortunate that I got to quickly see Dr. John F. Dombrowski at the Washington Pain Center on New Mexico Ave, in NW DC . He was AMAZING. Without even looking at the MRI report and the Xrays, he told me exactly what the MRI report would say and what the Xrays would show - he is that experienced. AND best of all, Instead of getting an injection, he suggested I first try some medications. After taking one pill yesterday and one today, my neck already feels better. I can actually turn my head without wincing in pain. There was another patient who came in after me. Before Dr. Dombrowski saw him, he came to me to ask me a "favor"- would I mind if he saw the other patient before me as Dr. D. knew it would be a short appointment with the other patient. How many doctors would ask for your permission to do that or would they just do what they want? I have been kept waiting such long times at some offices, with no explanation being given from anyone, that I have walked out. The office waiting room is inviting and comfortable AND the receptionists are the nicest I have ever met. They both were so kind. I especially appreciated Kate helping me use the Ipad to fill out the forms and telling me I did not need to rush. IMHO, the people at the front desk can create a positive or negative feeling from the moment you walk into an office. For me, if the first people you meet in an office are too busy to look up and welcome you, that is not a good sign. Kate and the other receptionist created a very positive environment. I am thankful I found Dr. Dombrowski and his team. Am looking forward to returning in a couple weeks for a checkup!!
