Dont go here if you want to be treated well if your unhappy with your service. Very unprofessional, dishonest, and Raphael is rude and is not the artist he claims he is. Very overpriced for the quality of the service. My bad experience here started with Raphael lying about his mark up on his materials. They were marked over five times, and the quality of materials used in my service was very low quality. He made over 1,000 on my service, and when it didnt last a week, tried to fix it with more low quality product. My hair is in worse condition than when I started and now have bald spots. Another great haircut and color today... thanks to Jessica! I've used Ralphael's Salon for three years now, having relocated from the North, and I've been pleased with two of my three hairstylists. Consultations, coloring techniques, cut and style are all great, not to mention the fabulous hair wash and scalp massage! Product recommendations have all been spot-on and I love the points that can be applied to product purchases. Most of the staff are very customer-focused and attentive to needs without getting pushy or too over the top. Pricing is higher than what I was used too, but I'm getting better results. read more

I got there right on time for my appointment with Jamie, and we got started immediately. She was patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. She even took the time to give me styling tips. And most important, of course: I love my haircut. It looks better than more expensive cuts I've gotten in New York. This place considers the little things and is constantly training their stylists. This salon needs a Tabathas Salon Makeover. Dirty, poor customer service, I waited 20 minutes for a pedicure appt. was in the front reception area for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. The only reason I gave them 3 stars was that the pedicure was very good, by Theresa, which I had been referred to. The experience however was not good enough for me to return in the future. I had been a loyal customer of Raphael's for over 5 years. My last cut and color was in June last year. I have not had a cut or color done since. I told my stylist that I did not want a chunk of my hair dyed blonde, but instead I wanted a consistent color with some highlights. I got a chunk dyed blonde. After I got home I noticed that my cut was very uneven, and I called and made an appointment for Raphael to fix this issue. All he did was trim a small piece in the front! Visiting PS and decided to walk-in for a mani/pedi to this place across from my hotel. They quoted a $48 price which is more than any salon in LA but the place seemed nice enough, friendly staff, and not a customer in sight. They had me wait while they set up for me. Fifteen minutes later I walk into the actual work area from the waiting room to learn not only have they not set anything up but I see that the nail stations consist of a hard bench and a plastic bucket. I went in for leg wax and manicure. While manicure was fantastic, wax job was just ok. My real complaint is how filthy this salon is. When I got home I discovered I had wax in my hair! Since she was waxing my legs, I have to assume wax was already on the table, EEW! While looking around, the floors were dirty, the counters were cluttered and dirty in the treatment room. When I went into the nail area, same thing. Dirty floors and lotion bottles had black fingerprints on them. When was the last time this salon has been professionally cleaned and sanitized? read more

My great friend got married in Palm Springs in March and Raphael did a great job on her bridal hair; however, Bianca and the other gal doing the bridesmaids were unfortunately nowhere near as talented as Raphael. Me and the other girls in the wedding all had to re-do our hair when we got home from the salon...40 minutes away from picture time. The styles looked like bad prom do's which all ladies know are big dont's. Bianca wasn't really able to adapt to the fact that I didn't like my hairstyle and made me feel like it was my fault. She could have handled the situation much better and then preceded to charge me 70 dollars just to style my hair with no wash or dry. I really wanted to go back to the salon to get my money back but the damage was done and I wanted to enjoy the beauty of my friends getting married. Another bridesmaid that was slated for Bianca after me was so worried that her hair would have the same fate as mine, that she quickly cancelled her appointment and booked one with Raphael instead who had just finished the bride's do.Overall experience, the service and environment are nice, but I wouldn't recommend going to them for a wedding. read more

MASSAGE- BE sure to establish the price up front, if a 1/2 h is 25 and an hour is 40 then if you choose an hour & a half I would expect to pay the hour rate x 1-1/2 or 60.00 they always try to get the extra 5.00 they have several other nickle and dime tricks here like if you like a strong massage they'll charge an extra 10/hr. BUYER BEWARE Forget the rate sheet that's posted they don't use it and get a firm price first. Massage skills are hit and miss they ship they girls in and out on a regular basis so nobody stays more than a few months. Don't know if it had anything to do with it but the Cops were called during one of my massages lots of yelling etc., guess they're legit the city hasn't closed them down yet. read more

Four years ago, I went in for my first appointment and I have no regrets what so ever! Raphael's Salon is so inviting from the moment you walk into the door. All the stylists know you by name (even if you aren't thier client), they offer you water, coffee and always make you feel comfortable. The services they provide are beyond perfection. You can really trust the sylists, they are well educated and know what they're doing. Everytime I walk out of Raphael's I feel fantastic. WOW. Laura is not only an expert on dermalogica products but trained extensively in Europe. The facial and massage I received this weekend, I swear, made me look five years younger. I stumbled upon this place while trying to find a different salon and I am SO glad I did. They have hair and nail services. It is all American staffed and the salon is very clean and well decorated. Complimentary tea or coffee while you wait. They have a massage parlor next door too that isn't American staffed but they do a fantastic job too. I wish I lived here and could come back! read more

After reading the reviews a few points come to mind ~ "You can't please all the people all of the time, so you please some of the people, some of the time!" Let's face it guys and gals, when it comes to our hair or skin we want perfection and we want it now. So to do that you would have to fill some pretty large shoes, as peoples tastes change, they get older, styles come and go, etc. For the people that gave this salon 1 star, why were you there? I'll tell you why. It is because you don't have a favorite salon ~ if you did why would you go elsewhere? Meaning you were hoping that this time it would be different, this time they would make you feel glamorous, powerful and special, and yet you walked away one more time with the sinking realization that you're still the same person...that is "never" satisfied anywhere you go, a hater not a lover, you feel victimized at all times. Enough about you! For the rest of the community that does have a stitch of their own self-esteem "before" going into Raphael's Spa & Salon, we know we are in the right place, with some of the best hair stylist around. And if you think you are picky, I will cut my own hair before I wander into an unknown salon and "hoping." And I do. Over and over again till I have Raphael clean it back up again. The reason he doesn't do it all the time is I don't live in Palm Springs, though I do know he has had some very big clients that wouldn't put up with nonsense. There are technicians, as anyone can go to cosmetology school, but there are few true artist of the hair ~ and Raphael is one such artist. Now is he the cheapest gig in town...no. Is he inexpensive? No. A bargain? No. But if you are looking for all that go to Fantastic Sam up the street or the myriad of other salons that hire people straight out of cosmo school, good or bad. If you want hair done by a true artist and a professional go to Raphaels. He also trains personally all his staff assuring they are to his standards. Yeah it's pricey there and I am the first to admit I would like to pay less, especially since I now my little daughter loves the place, so perhaps we won't go as often, but we'll always go! read more

Second visit, brought 3 friends. Staff was very friendly. It appears the shop had done a remodel since my last visit and has the use of pillows and benches. Very uncomfortable seating for waiting area and for Pedicures. Could not get comfortable. With all four of us, we were there for 4 hours, an expected time frame, but seating was awful. As stated earlier THE STAFF was wonderful! From the greeting, to the facials, to the pedicures, what irritated me was RAPHEAL. During my 3 hr wait, after my pedicure, I saw he met and greeted everyone in the shop eventually, including the people next to me. I'm not saying the shop is bad or do not go, but after dropping over $400 + 20% tips, bringing new clients, and making a return return visit I could have gotten a hello or welcome between the 1st &2nd visit. read more

Raphaels Salon and Spa (if you want to call it that) should be closed down for filth alone the floor is disgusting and look as if they havent been mopped for a year. As I was standing by the front desk I overheard a client complaining about her har and the stylist that was providing the service was looking around the salon and not even acknowledging the unhappy client. Theresa the manicurist/pedicurist/facialist/ waxing specialist ...umm okay is not only unproffessional and so self involved that she cant focus on what she's doing but after she decided she wasn't going to get the callusses off of my feet (but change the pedicure and charge more) cut all of my toe nails different lengths and sizes then she cuts my toe nail below the quick to the point where I was in pain and my toe was bright red. My feet were thick with callus, rough dry and cracked. She left white cream on my toe nails and then applied the polish unevenly and wayyy too thick leaves me sitting there with towels wrapped around my feet and my toe nails wet she walked away and was DONE! She walked away and decided she was done. One of the higlights of the experience was when she discussed the salon coordinator and how her different hairstyles provided her daily entertainment when she goes to work everyday, talk about unity! My main focus was to GET OUT OF THERE!!! At the end of the appointment the price was ridiculous so overpriced Beverly Hills prices for that kind of service? I think not... When I got home and discovered further what a catastrophe my feet were I called the salon back and said, this has to be fixed they said to come back in. It took THREE HOURS for the other manicurist/pedicurist to fix the nightmare Theresa made my big toe too short that the other tech couldn't even put the polish on smoothly. So leaving the salon with my bright red sore sliced toe nails I was told only not only were they NOT giving me my money back they said I OVER EXAGGERATED the whole situation and told me to go elsewhere (GLADLY!!!) The salon is A HOT, HOT HOT MESS. DO NOT EVER GO TO RAPHAELS. It's pretty obvious there is an issue there. Personally I think it's a $$$$ issue. read more

I did a stupid impulse thing while walking by this salon while out shopping. My roots needed a touch up so on spur of moment made an appt. for that afternoon. It was a complete disaster! I have had my roots done by my great Aveda salon in Gig Harbor.Wa. Always looks great, then next trip she does foil. Well, I could not see what she was doing but it felt like she was painting bleach all the way to the ends! She may as well have just poured a bottle of bleach on my head & massaged it in (same result, and not SO much time) after she washed my hair & she went to blow dry it I was Shocked beyond words!! I don't know if this is their idea of a Palm Springs blonde, but it was ghastly! I was tempted to go back, but did NOT want them touching my hair again. I still had 8 days I had to live with it (so embarrassing ) but did not yield to temptation & waited till I got home. My hairdresser said WHAT happened to you? My friends that live in PS said give me the name because I will be sure to NEVER go there! And to add insult to injury, this "service" cost $120. I should have been impolite & not left tip $20!, but shamefully did. If I could it would be a 0 star!
