I give this ZERO stars the only reason it has a 1star review is because I have to in order to post a review!! I booked with Shaun Murray after seeing he had good reviews, hoping to finally treat myself after not getting my hair done in over 5 years. I came in with completely virgin hair over 20 inches long, and asked for a half head ombré. Instead of a professional experience, I was treated to a meltdown in front of the entire salon -- including my two children (ages 17 and 4). The service took longer than expected, and Shaun became visibly agitated when he realized he had other clients coming in. When I politely asked him about a section of my hair he had skipped, he completely lost it. Huffing and puffing, making comments about having anxiety and not being able to take other clients -- as if I wasn't one myself. He eventually stormed to the back of the salon saying, "I can't do this," while I sat in the chair with foils in my hair, shocked and confused. I approached him to ask what was going on, and he said he'd continue "if I let him." I sat back down, and he tried to apologize -- but when I attempted to clarify what I had asked, he snapped again, pointed his finger in my face, and told me to "be quiet." I insisted we talk about it right then, and he responded, "I'm done with you." I told him this was incredibly unprofessional, and that I felt completely disrespected and thought he might be on drugs acting the way he did in a professional atmosphere.-- to which he shouted "F** YOU*" as I walked out, with my children, and foils still in my hair. This was traumatic, humiliating, and beyond unacceptable. I left with my hair half-processed and no idea what to do next. If SALON JARICKS continues to employ someone like SHAUN MURRAY, I absolutely cannot recommend it. Avoid at all costs. read more

I booked an appointment with Shaun after he kindly gave me a coupon for his salon. He was able to lift my hair up very well and at the time I loved how it came out, he did an amazing job on that part. What's not fine is how passive aggressive Shaun was during our appointments. Unfortunately my hair took a very long time which I expected since I was going from dark brown with a teal green ombré to platinum. Shaun did not anticipate how long my hair would take, despite seeing and assessing my hair the week prior to my appointment. He made several comments about not realizing how long this would take and how I took up his entire day to the point he couldn't go home to take a break and do personal errands for himself. He made me feel absolutely horrible the entire time when it was supposed to be a relaxing day for me to get my hair done. On top of this, considering how long he had already taken on me I did not want to come back again to waste more of his time, however he insisted I come back in to put the color I wanted another day and so he could take his pictures for instagram. I obliged and we set up a time, to which he changed several times due to his own poor time management. I was flexible and wanted to give him plenty of time so I happily worked with him on that. I showed him pictures of what I wanted and even stated I was going for a chunky highlights type look at the bottom of my hair. What he did was color a part of the back end of my hair to where no one can see it and called it a day. When I voiced my opinion about how little color he applied, he assured me it would look fine and stated he didn't think it looked bad and that my hair shouldn't be overwhelmed with said color, along with yet another passive aggressive comment about how he's doesn't want to be controlling. So I trusted him because I thought he was the professional and let him continue. He then styled my hair for his instagram pictures and brushed it out for me before I left. Not to mention his other client was already waiting as he was styling my hair. The next days he texted me asking for an update if I was loving my hair. I was honest and told him i ended up not liking how he didn't take my opinion into account. He then proceeded to insult me for not liking his hard work and belittled me for assuming I don't know how to upkeep my own hair that I've been getting done for years and assumed I don't know how much it cost, despite SEVERAL comments to him from myself about knowing how expensive my hair is to begin with. He insulted me to "shop around" and let him know how much my hair would be if I had gone to another "high end" salon and how I insulted his "generous kind heart." For context, he quoted me a price I could work with before my appointment, and I even withheld the coupon he gave me because I know how expensive my hair really is to do. He belittled me simply because I was honest and answered his question to me. I have my own personal stylist that I normally go to and trust, but I wanted to give Shaun a try since he was nice enough to give me a coupon and was understanding about my finances. But after this experience, I will never go to him or this salon ever again. It truly is a shame, because Shaun really was nice to me, until I said something negative about his work. read more

I really loved Shaun and his cut color services until he threw me under the bus in front of the whole leftist salon staff. He had given me a coupon for a small % off a product bc I paid him double my service so he could catch up a little. Either way the air is thick in that salon I always knew I was not their cup o' tea so to speak. Im no commie and I couldn't stand them all straining to overhear our conversation. Let's just say im a patriot, i love and defend my country any chance there is. Well they cant turn on the blow dryers when I speak I feel like Merrill Lynch! Side eyes, rolling ones too. Just uncomfortable then he got mad while I was still in his chair when I mentioned I should have brought my coupon to get a new hairspray! His face dropped he began trying to tell me something or shut me up. The seats were full all around and apparently they were watching and listening as usual. He was flabbergasted and I was pissed but I still didnt understand what the problem was. Better later than never I learned the salon doesn't offer coupons on that stuff. How was I supposed to know this? Wwll he didnt finish my haircut he rushed me out of the chair to leave. I got home and I had a huge line of demarcation all the way down the side of my face. My haircut left much to be desired my sideburns either weren't touched, crooked or lopsided. I was so disappointed he was a good friend, I really loved him just look at my 2 prior reviews. Anyway I saw the other lady's text about upset, undone work, and a melt down. It just reminded me of my own less than nice experience just a short time ago. Idk what changed to change him rather drastically but I know what changed with me....I found a new hairdresser after getting kicked to the curb for something I didnt do! I had no idea. If I would have been let in on the secret I would have known to clam up, but that didnt hapoen. Therefore I lost a dear friend over a bad or poor decision he didn't even need to make for me. I had gotten my hair colored at another salon. I asked for a balayage ombré soft blonde, and she colored my hair a blotchy ugly orange yellow color with thick patches of highlights.
