A nice little shop off the SW corner of Barstow and First St. Lots of merchandise in store along with anything chocolate. The Elisha explained how chocolate is made and how some people are allergic to chocolate, mainly due how chocolate is made with fillers and other ingredients that cause a reaction. You're going to pay a bit more for the chocolate here, but you can taste the difference. You don't know what pure chocolate tastes like until you've had this. Raphio is in this great little hub of awesomeness. I love their location. There the kids play cafe, noahs ark cafe, kristinas health foods and grandma's tacos. This is me in a shopping center. There is plenty of parking and you can totally spend hours shopping if you had the time. Walking into the store was an experience all on its own. The FRESH smell of actual chocolate will slap you in the face and you'll love it. Then I was greeted by Grant. He was very friendly and shared a plethora of knowledge with me. If you have any questions about what makes this chocolate special, just ask! I eat a ketogenic diet and so I don't eat sugar. They had something even for me! You can even sample their chocolate before deciding. Their 72% sugar free bar is what I went home with. I also tasted their fresno chili bar which was not overwhelming at all. It was delicious. If you order from Raphio Chocolate, know that you will be buying from some of the nicest and most talented chocolatiers in the business. I've been craving chocolate like no tomorrow so I might have gone overboard by basically ordering every single origin bar they had, along with their hot chocolate mix, some flavored bars and bon bons. Hey it was free shipping for large orders alright? Don't judge lol. The order was processed and sent out swiftly. Elisia and Yohanes provided quick correspondence through email and checked up on me to make sure the order was to my liking. They really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for me which I really appreciate. As for the chocolate, I love how each bar has its own unique flavor, just like how single origin coffees have a distinct taste to them. The chocolate itself was gorgeously packaged and in formed in a unique 3D geometric pattern that actually reminds me a bit of Q Bert now that I think about it. :D Each bar has a batch number and date for quality control purposes so you know they are serious about producing the best chocolate. There's also a description of the farm where the cacao beans come from which is also a nice little touch. It makes you feel more connected with the food you are eating. My favorites so far are the Peru, Ghana and Dominican. The Ecuador is also quite nice and I'd say it has the most balanced taste out of all the bars so I definitely see why they use these beans to make their different percentage bars. If you're trying to cut out sugar in your diet you are in luck here because they do offer a sugar free bar made with monkfruit. The bon bons I had were so luxuriously smooth and rich. The flavors were decadent and just superb. I also loved the hot chocolate mix. The mix I bought is just the chocolate + cocoa butter so you can add your own sweetener to your liking. If anyone's a honey fiend like me, dark honey varieties work really well with this chocolate. My favorite mix so far is almond milk + avocado honey + Raphio chocolate mix. It's my semi-sweet indulgent beverage for the day! Because of their remarkable products and the best customer service around, they've got me hooked! Based on Yelp reviews we decided to see what a 5 star place looks like. To say I was blown away, is an understatement! We were given the "tour" of how they began, how the owners met, what bean to bar mean and what ethically sourced chocolate is and where it comes from. We were given samples which were fantastic and ended up getting an Aztec Mocha (not on menu) and buying the cacao tea. We also bought bonbons and a few bars. Loved the fact that they partner with Kuppa Joy for their coffee beans. Just what I need... a new addiction. We will be back for sure! read more

Very chic, very Carmel upscale vibe. Extremely sweet owner and staff. I felt so comfortable! The tour is amazing, you will learn so much...you'll never be able to eat cheap chocolate again. Book early, it fills up fast. I'm not a big chocolate person. In fact, I don't care for it but hubby loves so I went for him. Well, guess who walked out after purchasing her own bars...ME! I just have never tasted chocolate like this. The closest was during a trip to France and this was still superior. I mean, meyer lemon with Enzo olive oil chocolate?! Sounds crazy but it's amazing. They also have an all natural sugar free chocolate without artificial sweetners. I can't handle artificial sweetners and so this is a game changer. This is the type of chocolate you can savor with a beautiful glass of wine. I didn't try it but hubby said the chocolate milk would be a serious problem for him...very addicting! Best he's ever had. [Review #325] 2018 Yelp 100 Challenge (96/100) My LOs were playing at Figarden Loop Park & made fast friends with Jacque M's kids. Our daughters are close in age & an easy friendship blossomed within minutes. Since we were visiting family in the area, Jacque mentioned a chocolate tour/tasting at her friend's shop, Raphio Chocolate. Our schedule was tightly packed but changed on our last day... we ended up staying an extra night in Fresno so I was able to make a trip to Raphio Chocolate. Located near the corner of a strip mall, this chocolate shop is small but inviting. We were warmly greeted upon entry, & said we met a friend of the owner who had a private dark chocolate tasting session & highly recommended that we make a stop before leaving Fresno. My 8 YO was salivating at the possibility of tasting all the chocolates, but I limited her to the ones that we may buy for Dad & my cousin, Kim. RC is quite generous with the tasting discs, they're about the size of a quarter so you get a good sense of its flavor. It was easy for H to pick her favorites, I mean ones that she thought Dad would like. ;-) We ended up with 4 bars: Ecuador (macadamia nuts, malt, berry), Peru (tropical fruits, brown spice, bananas), Tanzania (maple, toffee, grapefruit), & Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Chocolate. I liked that our chocolates were packed with an ice pack to help prevent them from melting in this heat. =) They really care about their products & proving excellent customer service. This is one chocolate staple that's a keeper! The cup was cute, the hot chocolate was really good. Super easy to make and totally hit the spot the other night. As the weather is cooling down in the evening it is the perfect way to end your day. I am so glad that Nicola informed and introduced the yelp community of this new chocolate hand crafted shop. My date and I decided to come in to this chocolate shop on a Saturday around 2 or 3pm. As I raved about this place so much. When we entered we were greeted and one of the owners gave us the whole walk through of the chocolates and we sampled all of them. The Tarazaina chocolate is my all time favorite at 72%. While we were tasting another woman who is a dark chocolate fanatic came in very knowledgeable about her chocolate. We all shared a great chocolate tasting experience. The owner had new tester chocolates that I haven't tried before one being made with Fresno Chili's, it was delicious. I opt out in tasting the Ecuador 102% of chocolate as it was too bitter for me, however my date decided to want to be brave and try it and his reaction made the owner and I crack up. I love how passionate the owner is about the chocolate and the love of making healthy candy you don't have to feel guilty about eating. They have so many reward programs which is awesome and incentive to buy more chocolates. This is a great place for gifts or to self indulge. Unfortunately they were out of the Nibbs chocolate. We all were educated on the chocolate and left in chocolate heaven. I will definitely be back. I enjoyed the samples and my chocolate. If you have not been here before I recommend you give it a try as you won't be disappointed at all...you will find something you like. Also since it is hot the packing is very thoughtful as the owner put in a package that doesn't let the chocolate melt for awhile...which I thought was useful. We were met outside to order our drinks. My daughter said it's the best hot chocolate she's ever had. I had the mocha latte and it was delicious! Nothing like I've tasted before. Their white mocha chocolate bar was also very good! It was hard it not to continue eating. Full disclosure: I co-hosted a Yelp event with Raphio Chocolate last year. But I love their product, and since working with Elisia and Yohanes, I've become a regular customer here at the store and whenever I see their products at markets and local stores. I'm from the UK and I'm not fond of American chocolate (as in the stuff you get at the supermarket), so it's amazing to have a family business making bomb chocolate locally! Raphio's dark chocolates are vegan and made on the premises from raw cacao beans - so you know exactly what you're getting. There are several varieties. The standard ones are 72% (the percentage relates to the amount of cacao, the rest is sugar) from Tanzania, Ecuador and Peru, and there are also 82%, 92%, and 102% varieties. I especially like the 72% chocolate with cacao nibs, which gives it a little bit of crunch. You can sample a few before you buy. If you like something a little different, they also do some special editions and local collaborations, like their chocolate sprinkled with Kuppa Joy coffee beans, and one infused with clementine olive oil from Enzo's Table. At the store, they also stock some chocolates from other small chocolatiers around the world, so there's always something new to try. I'm also a big fan of their cacao nib tea, which you just take a scoop of and steep in hot water. It's a great way to take the edge off a snack craving, and just something tasty to drink in the afternoon. I highly recommend taking a tour of the factory - dates are listed on their website and it's a great way to learn more about the process and what makes Raphio chocolate unique. Oh, also, they have some neat tricks for keeping your chocolate cold if you happen to buy it at the height of summer (like I did today)! This is what a good chocolate shop is all about. Single source beans roasted on site. The owner couldn't have been any nicer! You get to sample chocolate made from beans from Ecuador, Peru, Tanzania and Nicaragua. The flavors are intense and quite amazing. And wait till you try the 102% chocolate! We came in wondering how good it would be and left with chocolate to do some cooking with and see what we can make! And these cookies are proof what quality chocolate and ingredients can make At another trip here we went on their chocolate making tour. While we were there we got ahold of their Clementine orange olive oil chocolate. Well today I decided to make some cookies with it and WOW what a treat. We've been cooped up for too long. Then Raphio posted pictures of new products. They've been working on it, and now you can get an iced mocha made with their fantastic house made chocolate. Upon 1st taste I was surprised. I had some small grains of chocolate mixed in the drink. At first I thought it was coffee beans. It is more like chocolate pulp. It melts in your mouth. It's great if you like chocolate. If you don't like chocolate, go for the white chocolate. It's new and available sugar free. Also available are tubes of hot chocolate mix. The hot chocolate was the 1st thing I tried at an expo. It's great and is measured out for 2 big mugs. We also got a sugar free chocolate bar. It's so good. We take it by the small piece at a time, and are astounded every time. It's so rich and satisfying. There's got to be some sort of magic going into this chocolate. read more

Loved the chocolate I bought from here, and my family enjoyed it too. The owners were very nice and attentive. I got to sample all of the chocolates that they had for sale. I was able to learn about and taste the differences of chocolates made from cacao pods sourced from different countries such as Peru, Tanzania, Ecuador, etc. It was so good that I ended up buying 4 bars of chocolate, plus their cacao tea! They specialize in making chocolates with simple, organic ingredients. All of which is done from cacao pods that they import from various countries. All of the processing gets done in their little chocolate factory in the building. The pure chocolate bars only have 3 ingredients: organic cacao beans, organic cane sugar, and organic cacao butter. The bars vary in cacao percentage from 72% all the way up to 102%. They also have chocolates with add-ins such as cacao nibs, coffee, or sea salt. I like that they have chocolate bars that are pure chocolate as well as bars with add-ins, that way we have a choice. Overall, the owners were very kind and knowledgeable and it was neat to learn about chocolate, as well as sample them. They're delicious and I definitely want to go back for more.
