Number two- This is a very professionally run organization- it is a members only club, and their number one concern is safety- yours, the other members and the surrounding area. While the weekends get busy, the weekdays are are the best time to head out and shoot in relative peace. The Range Safety Officers are all friendly, knowledgeable and they will call you out for anything you may do that's unsafe or against the range rules. This is a positive, because it keeps YOU safe as well! There is a procedure to join the club, so make sure you check the Website before you show up- and the number one thing- read and remember the rules of the club! Chris Nelson was the instructor and was very helpful and taught me a couple new tricks on the range when shooting which greatly improved my shot. I love this place and travel from Ocala to shoot here. Purchased my new handgun here a few weeks back. They also have a good selection of guns and accessories that you can pick up or buy last minute if you forgot yours. After passing a few forks in the road you come across a massive outdoor range with multiple lanes to choose from, well built and reasonably cool for Florida's muggy weather. Plenty of firearm options on site (if you choose not to bring your own), they do have vending machines on site as well as very friendly and knowledgeable staff who care deeply for everyone's safety. I had shot guns years ago with my father and later with a spouse, but I did not feel certain of my gun skills all these years later. I took the basic course for ladies held on Saturday. It cost $60 and was well worth the price. There were nine of us in the class that started at 9:00 am, ending about 2:30 pm. We were given facts about guns and the parts, the variety of ammunition, crime stats in Florida and proper attitude and care of firearms. The qualifying test is 15 yards and you have to hit the target 15 times. What is so impressive about this organization is the kindness of the rangers here. They know about everything there is to know about guns, but they were very patient with beginners. At the target, there was no "hurry, hurry, you have to get this done" in so many minutes. They were low-key and each student had her own ranger at her side to help if there were questions or issues. I learned to load a semi-automatic really fast and I now feel comfortable on something besides a revolver. If you are interested in getting a concealed carry permit, this is a choice place to go for training. BTW, their food is good too!
