He has a group of people he's worked with for many years. Many of the same members came back when I had the kitchen done. Unlike some general contractors, he knows his team and he also spends a lot of time at the jobsite supervising. He was there almost every day, and for several hours at a time. He has a good eye for the work and keeps the quality high. As things come up unexpectedly as they do when you start tearing things up, extra work and costs are explained and accounted for. I had some plumbing and electrical that needed to be done for my kitchen that wasn't part of the original quote, and I did ask for some painting and repair in the living room. So while there were overruns to the original quote, the work needed to be done and the costs were explained and accounted for before the work and charges were done.

Robert and Lana are awesome!…read more In the last three months, Top Notch has done the following for us- - replaced and painted an exterior door - textured and painted two bathrooms - re-shingled our roof - replaced gutters - washed and stained a patio - replaced a light fixture - put in a set of interior french doors and two regular interior doors - painted a vanity and made a new top for it - painted several rooms ..... and I am sure there are at least 5 things that I am forgetting! Top Notch can do almost anything you need done for your house and they'll do it for a reasonable price and at the time they said they would do it! It's even nicer that both Lana and Robert are great at responding to emails and texts as s that can make it WAY easier to communicate while you're stuck at work. I talked to Robert for about ten minutes. He didn't want to do quotes on evenings or weekends, but my husband and I both work. He eventually said "my wife will kill me, but I'll do it on an evening." He then said we both have to be there in case my husband and I argue and disagree on the work he does, and he couldn't put himself in a position between married people. That sounded a little weird to me, but he sounded nice otherwise, so I figured I'd give him a shot at the work. The next day, I got a voicemail from his wife canceling our appointment saying that we "weren't a good fit for them." I just wish they'd been honest from the beginning and not wasted my ten minutes writing down every detail of the work I wanted and all my contact information and where I'd heard of them if they were just going to cancel immediately afterward. Contractors are notorious for poor communication, overpromising/underdelivering, unexpected price increases, or not responding because the "job is too small." Fernando is the opposite of all these things. The communication is top notch, and his ability to improve on the customer's design is helpful when trying to bridge the design/execution/cost gap. We hired him to create and install a built in bar, cleaning storage cabinet disguised to blend with the bar cabinet, an entertainment built-in, office built-ins, and convert a carpeted bedroom into a wood floor office. The conversion project included finding and interweaving wood flooring with the existing floor outside the room for a seamless look. Removing a closet and expanding into dead space, relocating electrical, and building out a workspace. His crew went over and above in this area. They covered my floors from the entry to the workspace, cleaned the construction mess daily, and left the room looking like they had never touched a thing. His crews are polite, conscientious that they're in a home environment (quiet aside from essential construction noise), and clean. I felt like my ideas, home, and project budget were not only respected by everyone involved, but also foremost in Fernando's approach to the job. 10/10 have already recommended to friends, and will continue to use his services as my project budget is replenished. By far he provides quality work, great customer service, and respects that budgets come in all sizes.
