We knew what the problem was with our gas logs. The key that sends gas to the logs is broken. We also struggled yesterday to turn on our pilot light. The rapid repairs tech did that in about a minute. He charged us almost $300. They refused to consider anything other than tearing out a wall to try to fix the key, and told us it would cost almost $800 to make that simple valve repair. I'm pretty sure that did not include the cost of repairing and repainting our wall. The valve is reachable from above, but the technician refused to even consider that idea. He was also extremely disrespectful, including telling me our fire box went up behind the wall. I installed that fire box. I know exactly where it goes. I can say two minor positive things about the team that came, but I won't because I'm afraid it'll be taken out of context, but that's it. Horrible customer service! I hired them to install new fixtures for our shower. Easy enough. After installation, a few days later we noticed water damage coming thru behind our shower wall to our kitchen. The water damage ruined one of our kitchen cabinets and we had blowers and air cleaners running in our house for a week. My wife called the owner a couple of times before she got a return call from him. He was very dismissive to my wife and basically claimed no responsibility for their work and would not even come out to look at their work. They did not brace and secure the water line to the shower head and it created a crack in our pipe. They obviously do not warranty their work. I'm sure our insurance company will go after them. If there was a zero rating, I would give that! read more

No hard up-sell tactics or making the issue bigger than it was. He even showed me the faucet key and how to clean them. This is my second great review of Rapid Repair. I had Will come out and do several hours worth of work including fixing the laminate on the countertop, realigning kitchen drawers, fixing doors so they shut properly, hanging blinds, weatherstripping outside, and tightening a handrail. He did a great job. He provided a quote upfront and it was the same at the end. It was definitely on the high end but the service was extremely fast, and I was on a tight deadline. Megan who answers the phone leaves something to be desired. I explained a job that needed to be done and she told me they did not do it. Then told me she did not even know what a pulley was. How can you tell me that you don't do something but have no idea what I am even talking about. She was rude and should not be answering the phones. I initially called because I know Van, one of the owners, so my review may seem a little biased because he knew me and took extra care to do a good job, but a good job they did. This business operates with a "bait and switch" approach. I inquired about a service on Wednesday and was told the cost would be $126. On Friday, the technician came and completed the service, installing a new wax ring under a toilet. He then gave me a bill for $151.42. Apparently, the original price quoted did not include the materials, which they marked up at about a 40% increase (a $6.48 wax ring for which they charged me $23.33+2.09 tax). When I called and spoke with the owner about the bait and switch and the atrocious mark-up on the supply, he offered me a $25 credit with the company. I let him know that I would not want a credit with a company that marks up materials so high and does not communicate up front about the actual cost of a job. Very disappointing. I was pleased with Murphy, the tech, who was prompt, professional and quick about the job. I have to wait about 3 weeks to see if the seal actually took. read more

I sent over a CL 100 report for selling my house. There was some minor trim damage to the front right post leading up my steps. Basically the trim which was made of 2 x 4 and some decorative trim needed to be removed and replaced. I paid $100 for Rapid Repair to come out and evaluate and then received a bill for over $750 to replace trim. It included over six hours of labor totaling $450, another hundred dollars for the CL 100 letter, a line item for 7 1/2% to cover the companies Worker's Compensation and $140 for parts. The parts consisted of one 2 x 4, one piece of trim and some paint and caulk. When I asked him to explain the parts he said it included nails and replacing blades to cut the two by fours. He said I could do it myself and save $40, which told me that he was charging me $100 for parts and then marking them up another 40%. He admitted that he was up charging for materials. I can understand a 10 to 15% up charge but a $100 up charge is a flat out rip off. I had a conversation about all this and he had an answer for everything. I have since reached out to three other contractors all of which quoted me between $225 and $350. I obviously went with someone else and have a whole project done including the letter for $250. Please be aware that this company overcharges admittedly because it is an immediate repair. We were having this repair done because we are closing on our house next week. To charge $850 to replace trim is beyond gouging it is unethical and unprofessional and I will be able to be reporting it to the Better Business Bureau. Buyer beware. I will be more than happy to share the pictures of the minimal damage. Just thought I would share my experience. read more

I called to schedule an appt. after being told about how much it would be, then I was not contacted after a few days so I called back to schedule appointment to get the work done. What was supposed to be about an hour job, turned into 4 hours. After I started monitoring everything, and asking why it was taking so long, then the work got done, and the bill was three times more Than what I expected. If I would have stayed in the same room and watch over, I am sure it would have gone faster...not real happy, and will not contact this company again. read more

Avoid them like the plague. We had a service tech come out who said our job was "easy" and "routine" (replacing a bathtub faucet). He was here about six hours because he broke a pipe and had to run out of the house to turn off the water. To fix this, he had to cut a hole in the wall in the bedroom adjacent to the bathroom. We now have a cheap service panel that we had to pay for! The next morning, there was water all over the floor in the kitchen, the room directly below the bathroom. They came out and fixed it immediately. Now, a few months later, the faucet has come completely detached from the wall, making the tub unusable, and putting us right back where we started. Now we have to pay for the same service twice because their tech was incompetent. read more

May be just the person I had from Goose Creek area but, he didn't like me watching him replacing toilet bolts so I walked away. Big mistake. Had rust pouring onto the floor. Called back the next day, water on the floor. Said it wasn't set right at the value from the wall, he left it like that. Could have told me to check that by phone. Tried to hide his attitude but it was easy to see. Few weeks later way more rust. Figured he didn't clean the rust out. Called, didn't want the same man. This guy said he'd come but it'd be 2 weeks. No call, called back & he came. Started cleaning the floor, I said I can do that myself I want it cleaned out inside like it should have been. Watched, that was the last of it after all. This man said the wall value was broken, couldn't turn the water off had to do it outside. Wasn't broken before? After he left the toilet kept running. It wasn't the rubber stopper, already replaced that and even a bad one doesn't run steady. Several times the floor flooded. I have no issue turning the value on and off. Turned it down to prevent flooding. They rush, don't want to discuss or explain anything. And I know he broke the value. Now I have to get a plumber out to fix that. read more
