Next time around, in September 2025, they basically failed to get the job done. I came in with a ham radio antenna which required two copper-to-copper welds and two copper-to-aluminum welds. The relatively easy copper-to-copper welds were done OK, but two attempts to do the copper-to-aluminum welds failed when the copper wires pulled out of the welds. When I went to pick up the antenna after the third try, the welds appeared to be OK, and I paid the requested $460. Took the antenna home, where the copper wires again pulled out of the welds. I called in to protest, saying the antenna was still unusable. $460 for a failed job. The young man I talked to who coordinated the job would only say, "That's the way the cookie crumbles." So I wrote letters to two of the company's owners (in the Martin family) complaining about paying for a failed job. I never heard anything back. I expected at least a partial refund. Sure the job was unique and challenging, but they accepted the job with my understanding that they could accomplish it. Now, they have lost a customer and I'm out $460. Customer satisfaction: zero.

Hubby wondered if we could find a pole where the weight of the feeder was aligned with the vertical axis of the pole. The short answer was no; no one seemed to sell such a logical design. Moreover, it was almost impossible to find someone to bend a metal rod to our specifications. An Etsy vendor strung us along for 8 m before admitting they were too busy. Local decorative iron places we called said such a small job would be prohibitively expensive. So we turned to Yelp and that is how we found Gerlinger. They are a heavy duty steel company, but came up with our Yelp search term if metal bending. Violet answered our query promptly and put us in touch with Barry and Derek who gave us a reasonable quote for the design we supplied. They did a great job, and were gracious from start to finish. It is reassuring to know that companies still exist that are willing to take on the odd small project, and who prioritize customer service. I'm sure their larger clients are similarly pleased.

But one day we needed some work wear quick and all the other stores that supplies that type of clothing was closed, except Tractor Supply. So we pulled up, excited to find a new place and get some work clothes. There was no staff to be seen anywhere to help us. The clothes were unorganized and random items everywhere. My bf went up to the guy at the register who was on his phone and asked him if there was someone who could help us and he said something like, oh the girl that works that department will be back soon. So we waited 10 minutes. And waited another 10. She never came. BF went back to the guy at the register, to see if he can get anyone else or what. The girl came then, looking pretty irritated and answered my BF questions curtly and left to back to stocking the back or whatever she had said. We HAD to get something, so we picked through whatever we could find, paid big $$$ for these work clothes, and left. I thought this would be such a cool store- I wanted to see the baby chickens, and browse the shelves, and get some gear but it wasn't a good experience here.
