I made TWO appointments at Ras, and BOTH TIMES, was told upon arrival that the mechanic wasn't coming in that day. The reason the first time was acceptable( injured foot,but the second time was ridiculous: He went on an unplanned vacation! Neither time did Ras call to tell me the mechanic wouldn't be in. Geesh! Not surprisingly, I made the decision to go elsewhere and, hopefully the new auto store will actually act like professionals. We've had repairs on two vehicles and both were done very well. Since both were done as insurance claims, we were only responsible only for the deductible. Their estimate for the last job, long scratches and dents on the doors and front fender, was almost $2000 less than another local body shop (roughly 35% less) for pretty much the same work. They were up front about how long it would take and, while they went over by a day, it was not a problem. They worked seamlessly with our insurance company. I was also pleased that the car was returned fully detailed inside and out. I don't think it's been that clean since we drove it off the lot. Since I did not see a "detailing" charge on the estimate I'm guessing this is a standard RAS practice. Could the phone receptionist be a little friendlier? Sure. But that's my only issue and a rather small one. read more

I left my tail gate up and it hit my garage door. I could not drive the car so it was towed to RAS. Their people were polite and curteous. They did a great job. Thank you RAS. read more

Had to take this company to court for lack of workmanship. Unfortunately case was dismissed without prejudice due the them arguing that responsibility falls on the insurance company at fault. They gave my van back not completely fixed had to go to another body shop that had to total out my van due to other damages not fixed by RAS. THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR MISTAKES. read more

Steer clear. I went to this shop yesterday out of convenience of location for a simple inspection. I was told it'd take a couple hours, actually took around four. I'd call when they'd tell me to, to check in, just to be told to call back in 30, three times. A bit of back story: A week and a half before I took it to RAS I had my car up at the Mazda dealership for the same purpose. They noted some exhaust work and new brakes would need to be done, so we took it to independent muffler, and they replaced and repaired everything for us. So skip ahead a week, I wanted to just get the inspection over and called the neared place to my work to get it done: Ras Auto. I go to pay and the $85 inspection price has now, over doubled, to $204 due to the "fog light bulbs being out". $119 is what they charged me to put two lightbulbs in! I asked why I was never called to approve any repairs, to which they had no answer. Per PA law (Title 37, chapter 301, (3)) any maintenance work over and above the original quote of work, needs to be conveyed and accepted by the customer BEFORE the work may be completed, they failed to call and even inform me the lights had to be replaced until after the fact. My husband and myself called to get reimbursement of the additional $85 for just the labor ( the difference being the bulb price which I told them I was willing to accept) and the mechanic and garage manager refused to even acknowledge that they are in the wrong. Additionally, they're mechanic yelled at me that I can "bring it back and they'll rip the inspection stickers off and take out the bulbs" if I didn't agree to pay it. And the secretary hung up on me when the mechanic transferred the call to her to discuss a reimbursement. Also be aware, I have a video and audio walkthrough of the vehicle from Mazda, saying the lights were in working order, the previous week. So do I believe that both fog light magically died, at the same time in the week in between these two mechanic visits? No. My true belief is that mechanics don't make money off of inspections with no problems so they manufactured one to rip me off. I will pursue the issue with my bank, whom I've been in contact with, to receive the entire $121 overage charged back to my card, I will also be making a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General's office for Title 37 deceptive practices violations. It's the principal of the matter at this point, and I will pursue in civil court if that's what it takes. They will take advantage of you. omg is what i said when i went to pick up my truck every were the painted wasn't masked off rite primer showing dust in the paint took it back 3 times each time it got worse jim wonarski the manager told sorry each time until the last time said they wouldn't fix it once they got your money your shit out of luck my advice is to stay as far as you can from this place totally a rip off read more

Told among other items that the engine cradle needed repaired. That's funny since an engine cradle isn't even part of a car. It is rather a mechanic maintenance holding rack/device that functions as a seat for a removed engine to be placed on while a mechanic works on the engine external to the vehicle. It is basically a rack/shelf and not even a car part. read more

Just another Business you are better off staying away from. The owner Dave Ras, has not a clue what his manager Jim Wisnarski is doing & the money he is screwing him out of. I paid to have the fenders repaired on my RAM pick up in Feb & by April, the paint was bubbling & rust was coming through again! When I took it to them, Wisnarski ((also city of erie counsilman)) said: well, we just cleaned it up & didn't actually repair it!! WTF, wanted $1,400 to repair it, after I already paid them $750 to so call clean it up!!! STAY AWAY! read more

On July 16th 2018 my husband and I went to RAS Auto Body to set up when we could get my bumper fixed. We had gone the previous month for an estimate and decided to get it done. They told us the next available was July 30th. So we dropped my car off that day. At about 430p I still hadn't heard from them. I called. I was told the wrong part had come on the truck but it should be on the truck the next day and we would be called if it wasn't. Tuesday afternoon approached and no call. I called again. This time told my part wasn't on the truck. I told them that we would be there the next day to pick up my car. Wednesday I go into the office and tell the woman behind the desk I was there to pick up my car. She starts preparing a bill. I sternly tell her I wouldn't be paying a cent since it had not been taken care of yet. She acts like I screamed at her which I didn't. Who wouldn't be upset? Especially when they were told since the appointment was made far enough in advance the part would be no problem and it three days from appointment and it's not been done? Then I speak to the mechanic. He tells me that their part guy forgotten order the part. I was livid since I was told a part came in but it was the wrong part. I was then told they had ordered the part and I would get a call. I hadn't heard anything from them so on Monday August 20th I called at 1150a. I was told the garage was at lunch and they would take my name and have someone return my call. That Wednesday August 22, I still had not received a call. I called them. The person I spoke to verified the part was in and offered a few days they could put it in. I called August 27th to make the appointment. The gentleman I spoke to wanted to make sure all parts were in and what they had available as far as appointments. I ended up making the appointment for Wednesday 29th. I told the person I spoke to that I would come directly after dropping my daughter off from school which would be around 8am and need it back before 3 so I can pick her up from school and that I would be waiting for it. He says okay and he understood. Wednesday comes. I come in to the office. Their open sign is on. The lady that greets me says the garage has 10 mins before they open. I say okay. They guy from the garage comes in and tries to talk me out of waiting while the lady behind the desk scoffs when I insisted I would wait because they had told me before they would have it done when I left it and ended up having it for two days and didn't work on it. This way they know I'm waiting and will get it done. So the garage guy says he wants to make sure they have all the parts for my car. I shake my head. He comes back again states they are willing to drive me where ever and pick me up when it's done. It will be done by noon I'm told. I said I'm staying put. This should have been done a month ago and I want to make sure the work gets done. So I'm going to wait. Lady behind the desk says they don't have a bathroom for me to use because a plumber is coming in to fix an issue. I said I can wait until noon. She scoffs at my response. The mechanics don't push it anymore and leave to get started on my car. At 12:01p he comes into the office and says everything is fillnished. He also apologizes for all the mess I went through. The actual work was well done and I'm happy with how it looks. However I feel more should have been done to keep me informed and something offered for my trouble, like a mini detailing service or something. In the future I will seek out estimates from additional places before deciding where to go for repair. I probably would lean towards another place after this experience. It should not have taken a month for this to be taken care of and customer service surely lacks. If you work the front desk you deal with all sorts so you must be welcoming, kind, friendly and courteous. You're the face of the business. Perhaps this is why they prefer their customers not wait? They don't have experience working face to face with the public? Even though the actual labor was well done, the fact I was jerked around for a month and endured terrible customer service I will give this the lowest rating I can.
