Original damage from hitting the deer

I had the worst experience with this place. I hit a deer and was recommended this place by a friend. Before taking my car here I told Gary (the owner) that I expect perfection and he assured me that that my car would be in good hands. I believed him and went ahead with using them. Once they completed the repairs and I got my car back, I found 4 major issues with the work, some more concerning than others: 1. For some reason the shop decided to repair the door instead of replacing it. The repair job was very poor. You could see the crease marks and the patch work under in the reflection of the paint. This door should have been replaced instead of being repaired in the first place. 2. Poor paint finish around the parking sensor in the bumper - you could see paint bulging out around the parking sensor. 3. Paint drip on the front bumper near the headlight. 4. Overspray on the sideskirt. I then brought my car back to have these issues addressed. They had to resand and repaint the door to get the crease marks out from under the paint. All of the other issues were fairly simple fixes. Once I got my car back for the second time, I realized that the door that they repainted was now a different color. It was a shade darker. I messaged Gary and he said that they used the same paint as before, but since it's a 3 stage paint it will come out different every time. This is BS, and they should not have given me this Frankenstein back. What it seems to me is that they used a cheap clear coat which made the door look yellow. At this point I am not trusting them to touch my car ever again, as they fooled me twice already and I do not want them to make it any worse if I bring it back to them for the 3rd time. I am going to have to take it to another shop and pay out of pocket to get the door repainted again (everything else was covered through insurance but since Smith Collision is not my insurance's approved shop, my insurance is not responsible for the poor work they have done). What a nightmare, if you expect quality work I would not take your car here.

This shop is the best! They got another year out of my car and fixed it up when another shop told…read moreme to junk it! Finally the car did die the following year and they handled that well too (frame was rusted out). The staff on the phone are marvelous. the waiting area is convenient and comfortable to all and I noticed there was even a baby changing area! As a woman I can tell you I was treated well there where st some other places I've been treated like I was an imbecile and disregarded-not at Harrell!! I liked how I could communicate to them directly via text and got an immediate response from a real person every time-very impressive! This place is managed well! I had a five-star experience all the way around. Mr. Harrell give the staff a raise! Keep these staff members doing what they are doing now because it's all good. When I need a service again I'm coming back!

After dropping over $5,000 on February 06, 2026 to have some "issues" fixed I was back less than…read morefour hours later the first time it died at the end of my drive way due to the gas line not being hooked up. Then it was back again one month later with another issue after my 2020 Dodge Durango was in their possession for three days. First time I had it on the highway the check engine/start stop warning lights (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES) lit up my dashboard and the engine was sputtering and pulling. Called Harrell Automotive the next day and they ran a test on it and said it would be another $850.00 to now replace 6 spark plugs. After receiving the invoice after the job was supposedly done it was $999.95 owner discretion of "supposed" work done. Average price to change 6 spark plugs is approximately $650.00. Fast forward to March 22,2026 I have had my Durango back in my possession for twelve days and when I drove it past 50 mph same issues happen again, and same EXACT diagnosis (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES). I'll let fellow customers decide but I do not deal in coincidences, especially the same exact diagnosis. All of this was after Michael(Owner) reached out to me and asked how we could rectify the situation after leaving a negative review just two weeks ago. I gave him the benefit of the doubt but same diagnosis in less than a month, makes a customer wonder was there even work done or was just an invoice written up? No one will ever know because we as customers do not know what goes on behind the garage walls. There is always an excuse "when a vehicle breaks down it can get expensive" Always have an answer for everything. Their mechanics must eat real good at the expense of their customers. They say they treat us like family, I would not want to know how they treat enemies. How does someone's vehicle have more problems after Harrell Automotive has possession of it? I am from Erie born and raised and I do not like people who come here and overcharge for shotty work and then have the nerve to call us family. They say in their commercial that they will wash your car for free and they will do the job RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Fellow Erieites PLEASE read and listen to my review and do not give this company your business, there are so many other GREAT HONEST garages in town that deserve your business for a fraction of Harrell's cost. Do yourself and favor STAY AWAY and you also save a lot of time and money. He doesn't care about us local people anyway. He is not from here he is just looking to pad his pocket book get a nice retirement check out of us and move on with his life. Finally pictures and diagnostic do not lie, I urge everyone to buy themselves a personal vehicle scanning tool. They pay for themselves UPDATE I received a phone call from the owner this morning on March 24, 2026. He told me I was blasting him, and then I received three text messages from his wife, Recommending I call the owner and apologize, for what? My still disabled vehicle. Here is where they are dishonest and I attached the texts to my photos (SEE PHOTOS) and I will quote her word for word. "In Brian Cohick's case, the "owner discretion" he refers to is Michael's charity to a disabled Veteran and Brian did not pay any portion of the $999.95". Ok folks here's the truth why I did not pay because the owner called me on my cell phone asking me what could be done. I said fix my vehicle and I do not want any more lights coming on. He asked me to take down my original review in return for the work that was supposedly unrelated to the $5,000 I gave them a month prior. According to Harrell Automotive spark plug and wiring repair costs $999.95 HAHA. As for her closing statements about honesty, I was honest when I removed the initial review and was a man of my word until the same issue and diagnostic came up (SEE PHOTOS) in which I informed Michael if it does the review will go back up, again I am a man of my word. She also states that it's not uncommon for more problems to occur after fixing another one, REALLY? After the initial $5,000 I gave them it's not uncommon for another $999.95 issue to occur (work performed in exchange for removal of initial review). She also stated we stand behind our work, first we will hit you with $5,000, then a week later oh $999.95 spark plugs? HMMMM interesting. Anyone in Erie who let's them touch your vehicle and have not read all the reviews, good or bad please read them all. Fair shake. But do not say I didn't warn you. Lastly please look at all the pictures I have attached carefully and think about your decision. Erie Strong!!!!
