I was a patient of Dr Rashmi Chhabra for over four years. I cancelled an appt due to illness in an untimely fashion according to her and she lambasted me for not respecting her time and I needed to find another PCP. I took her petulance as a godsend and am happy to move on. I feel for her staff. They tiptoe around on eggshells like canaries about to be eaten by the cat. read more

I would agree with all the reviews posted, sadly. I recommended her once to a friend and my friend left in tears because of the way she was treated. There was no concern for my friend's condition only the insurance. It seems her patients are nothing but billing machines. And, don't try to get medical records. I tried for 3 months and the office refused to send them. read more

I would have to say that Dr. Rashmi Chhabra is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. Her "care" is right on the border of malpractice at best. Will not spend more than five minutes with you at any given time, and becomes aggressive and demeaning if pushed for a clearer explanation of things. I really don't think she likes older people, but that is just my opinion. read more

Most caring doctor. I have had wonderful care with her. Even though the office decor is not upscale she knows her stuff and easy to talk to and good at diagnostic. It is a easy going relaxed atmosphere. read more

I went to the office to make an appointment for my parents. I handed over their insurance cards and told the young man at the front desk all relevant information about my parents. He made copies of their insurance cards, entered everything into their computer and gave me a thick pile of forms to fill out for each of them. We filled them out over the weekend, took them back on Monday and were given an appointment for two weeks later. The morning of the appointment the office called to cancel because they don't take the type of insurance my parents have. How did they not know that in the first place?!?! We then had no time to find my parents another primary care provider because my stay was ending the next week. I am livid. read more

My sister, Susan Masters, age 61, was a patient of Dr. Chhabra for nearly two years, and is now dead. Dr. Chhabra prescribed her a medication for a condition which Susan didn't even have, osteoporosis. The drug, raloxifene, carries with it a black box warning - the strongest warning a medication can have and still be on the market. The black box warns that this drug can cause pulmonary emboli, which are notoriously life threatening or fatal. Dr. Chhabra neither discussed the black box warnings, nor gave Susan other options of what could be used instead of raloxifene. Susan went to see Dr. Chhabra with symptoms of pulmonary embolus which had developed 4 days earlier, yet Dr. Chhabra diagnosed Susan with a bronchitis that Dr. Chhabra claimed would resolve soon because Susan was "getting better." Rather than properly diagnose and treat her condition, she recommended Susan get chicken soup from a local store because "it's to die for." Susan was dead from a pulmonary embolus 5 days after seeing Dr. Chhabra. As a physician myself, I am appalled by Dr. Chhabra's unwillingness to talk to me before Susan came to see her, even though I had reached out to Dr. Chhabra's office by phone in advance of Susan's last visit. I was extremely concerned about Susan's illness and wanted to confer with Dr. Chhabra before she saw Susan. Susan's diagnosis should have been suspected by Dr. Chhabra because she is the one who prescribed this medication, and was, or should have been, aware of warnings given in the black box. Dr. Chhabra prescribed Susan a dangerous and third-rate medication which Susan didn't need and that has a potential side effect of death, and yet Dr. Chhabra failed to recognize that Susan was presenting to her with the symptoms of the side effect. Had my sister received prompt, appropriate medical care from Dr. Chhabra (a simple blood test could have indicated the diagnosis, a pulse oximetry test could have indicated the extreme danger Susan was in, an EKG could have hinted at the diagnosis, all of which could and should have been done in her office), she would likely be alive today. read more

Follow up on my review. I recieved a letter from Chhabra this week informing myself and my husband to go elsewhere. She said she could not meet my expectations. I would give her a zero if that was possible. A very peculiar woman and definitely not a professional. read more

I do not recommend Dr. Chhabra. Unfortunately, Dr. Chhabra was the primary care physician to both my parents for many years. My mother died suddenly while under Dr. Chhabra's care. It is a miracle that my father is still alive after surviving numerous health issues while under Dr. Chhabra's care. My father was just discharged from two weeks in the hospital after he fell and suffered numerous concussions. He had fallen a month previously, and Dr. Chhabra did nothing to address the cause of the fall or to prevent reoccurrence. Even though his blood pressure had been very low for several months, Dr. Chhabra had my dad taking two medications intended to treat high blood pressure. I am in the process of helping him move, where he can get better medical care and a competent primary care physician. read more

I would give this physician 0 stars if possible. She was twice brought before the Arizona Medical Board for her shoddy medical practice in the case of my sister. The last time was this very day. She will be issued an Advisory Letter and Order for Non-Disciplinary CME (continuing medical education) for failure to obtain further imaging or lab work for a patient's (my sister, Susan's) respiratory complaints and failure to obtain an EKG to investigate the reported chest pain. Within 6 months of today she must complete no less than 5 hours of Board staff pre-approved Category 1 CME in the evaluation of respiratory complaints and chest pain. The CME hours shall be in addition to the hours required for license renewal. This action was voted on by the Arizona Medical Board in case MD-18-0229A of Rashmi Chhabra and passed nearly unanimously by the board. My family feels somewhat relieved that she might not prove the danger that she did to our sister, Susan, who died 5 days later after seeing Dr. Chhabra in January 2018. read more

My loving and well-loved, vibrant sister, Susan Masters (age 61), died suddenly and unnecessarily while under the care of Dr. Rashmi Chabbra. Susan died all alone when she dropped dead in her driveway while simply trying to walk to her mailbox. She had suffered a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism. She was currently taking a drug for osteoporosis prescribed by Dr. Chabbra, which carries a black box warning for pulmonary embolism. Susan did not even have osteoporosis. When Susan and I visited Dr. Chabbra, 5 days before Susan's death, Dr. Chabbra took little to no interest in the fact that Susan could barely walk, had been suffering pain while breathing for over a week, and had a racing heart rate of 117 beats per minute. Chabbra just proceeded in a chatty, way to tell Susan she was recovering from bronchitis (Susan had NOT been coughing) and gave her a prescription for a steroid, which could have made her pulmonary embolism worse. Dr. Chabbra also proceeded to tell Susan to go to the store and get some deli chicken soup that "was to die for". I know this is what happened because I was there. If Susan had been sent straight to the ER, which I believe Dr. Chabbra should have done, I think she would be alive and well today. read more

This is not a doctor I can recommend to anyone. I was initially pleased with this doctor when I started seeing her. I was her patient for about a year and half after moving into the area. She did my yearly physical and we talked about me losing weight by dieting and upping my physical exercise. My BP was borderline high and she placed me on a anti-hypertensive. She did the routine blood work, did an EKG (she commented that I had a heart murmur) and she ordered my yearly mammogram. I followed her orders for losing weight and increasing my physical activity (power walking daily & hiring a trainer to lift weights). She checked me a few times briefly in my office due to BP meds and encouraged me to continue with my weight loss. I saw her a few weeks before my next physical to renew my prescription for BP meds (she weighed me & checked my BP and listened to my heart) and told me she'd see me in a few weeks for my physical. Two and a half weeks later, I tripped on the sidewalk while out power walking and fell, fracturing my wrist. I went to the local Urgi-Care, as it was a Saturday. The Physician's Assistant who saw me, listened to my heart and was immediately concerned. He asked if I knew I had a heart murmur. I said yes, and that my internist had done an EKG last year and labeled me A-Ok. He told me that he was calling an ambulance immediately to take me to the local Medical Center. There I had a heart sonogram and they cath my heart. My coronary arteries were declared clean as a whistle, but they told me that I had to have immediate (within 2 weeks) open heart surgery due to SEVERE aortic stenosis (aortic heart valve had to be replaced). The cardiac surgeon told me that I could have died at any time during my daily 4 1/2 mile power walks over the past year. He couldn't believe that this doctor hadn't listened to my heart and known something was wrong. He stated that the "standard of care" for this kind of heart murmur was to do a baseline heart sonogram. After my surgery I went back to Dr. Chhabra for a follow-up internist appt., curious to see her reaction. She acted shocked and more than a little concerned when I told her about the surgery. No apology though. A few weeks later when I was checking my insurance papers, I noted that I didn't get billed for the appointment I had with her a few weeks before the problems was found. I called the receptionist and she checked their records and the told me that I hadn't been seen. I reminded her of a conversation she and I had when I came in for the appointment (a memorable conversation) and I could tell from her response that she remembered the talk and was confused about why I wasn't in the records. I asked her to have Dr. Chhabra call me. Needless to say, I did not receive a follow-up phone call. Not very ethical behavior in my personal opinion. read more
