He's about 2 yrs old and a long haired Chihuahua and when I first got him the hour and 1/2 drive from Harrogate to home, I thought he'd vibrate out of my lap into the floor. He panted to where I thought he'd pass out. He was definitely traumatized. I call the Vet in Harrogate and tell him what happened and how nervous he acts, so he said he would look at his chart, check his weight and would send me some liquid Prozac to give him to see if it would help. And it did, but Harrogate was so far to drive so I thought I'd find somewhere closer and made an appointment at Jonesville. My very first appointment I knew this was not the place for me. I had brought copies of Rudy's records with me, and the Dr. snapped "we don't give this medicine here. If you're here for this, you might as well find somewhere else".... 1. It's Prozac not Morphine. And 2. I was not there for that. I had weaned him off that months before. So I set him straight, told him I heard good Vets worked there, and he said nothing else. Just needed his Rabies shot. Then about a yr later I want to get his teeth cleaned, so I'm calling around trying to find a Vet that does that without having him ride an hour, so guess what? They do and make me an appointment to come in for a consultation??? It's made for about 3 or 4 weeks away so, I didn't make the appointment. And I understand it inconveniences them, but they are not my regular Vet and it was my 1st time missing an appointment. Low and behold I'm getting billed for missing the appointment!! Needless to say I'm not happy. I pulled up the new customer application and can't find anywhere where it says if you miss an appointment you'll be billed. So NO I do not recommend this place at all.

Now I called up Powell Valley Animal Hospital to see why. The receptionist said they found out I used another vet for pet treatment. First off, how did they get that information, and second why does that even matter? They also said I never bought any pet treatment from them, which is a lie. I had paid them twice. The Doctor won't talk to me over the phone or in person. They said it was a done deal. These people are childish and don't really care about animals refusing to see my pets.

He clearly explained two treatment options and thoughtfully considered that my cat is older and had been recently sedated. I initially chose the more conservative option, but when my cat needed to return for catheterization under sedation, Dr. Dolan was excellent during both procedures. His communication was clear, calm, and honest, and I genuinely felt that his recommendations were centered on my cat's welfare. After stabilization, my cat--while catheterized--was transferred to a 24-hour emergency clinic in Asheville, where he was hospitalized for three days. I'm incredibly grateful to this practice for stabilizing him and setting him up for the care he needed next. For an emergency hospital, the cost was also very reasonable. I sincerely hope I won't need emergency services again, but if I do, I would absolutely return here.

My search for a vet that was open led me to this clinic. I called and they took us right away. I have never seen a veteran so full of compassion. They gave her a calming injection, let her stay in her bed, left the room and told us to ring the bell when I was ready to let her go. I cried and held her for half an hour. Pushed the bell, vet came in and I held my girl as she passed. Never have I seen such a considerate, gentle vet.
