My 28 year old son had surgery with Dr. Risouli. I had brought him in at 5am and after his surgery I was told I could not go see him as he recovered. This is was a big and very unpleasant surprise. He was there for a total of 11 hours as I sat in the waiting room. They kept saying "he's doing fine, and it's too small back there for "visitors." It was insane. Dr. Rasouli did a complicated operation on my spine 18 months ago. It was complicated by the fact that I had a bone wrapped around my disc. So the easier surgery was too risky. While I spent most of the pre-surgery appointments with his PAs they were knowledgeable and told me everything I needed to know. It wasn't until the day before the surgery when Dr. Rasouli was obviously preparing for the next day's surgery that he saw the bone around the disc. He called to explain the situation and to make sure I knew exactly what he was going to do the next day and why. Because Dr. Rasouli had been straight-forward throughout and had worked miracles for my cousin and brother-in-law, I was fine with what he wanted to do. Surgery went well. Had a rough time with the post-surgical meds and when Dr. Rasouli heard he took me off everything and set up a schedule that worked great. My recovery was fast and 18 months later the showing pains, problems walking, and everything else my spine was doing to me are ancient history. I do Pilates, play pickleball, and travel. Dr. Rasouli changed my life, and I will forever be grateful to him and his whole staff for giving me my life back. Prior to meeting with Dr. Rasouli, I had dealt with 8-10 levels of pain in my lower back for 5+ years. I had seen multiple spine and ortho specialists, had 4 spinal injections in my lower back and SI joint, did acupuncture, cupping, and massage twice a week, bought special padded flooring for my house and office, would lay on an ice machine every morning and hot pad every night, wore a back brace everyday... Developed a debilitating post surgical infection which he tentatively misdiagnosed as a second disc herniation. He ordered several MRIs between December and April leaving me in so much pain I couldn't even roll over in bed, couldn't sleep, could barely walk. When he decided, after four months of MRIs, that I had another herniation I found that dubious so I took the MRIs to another doctor for a second opinion They immediately rushed me into a bone biopsy and confirmed I didn't have a second herniation, I had osteomyelitis. I spent three months on IV antibiotics and my right leg has never fully recovered nerve function but I had a massive post surgical infection which should have been diagnosed with the first MRI, and definitely not scheduled for an operation on as a second herniation. Wouldn't go here again if I was paralyzed and he was the last surgeon around. The comment posted below is a lie. Dr Rasouli incorrectly diagnosed me with another herniated disc after my surgery. He did four months of MRIs and scheduled me for surgery which I did not do after my bone biopsy from another doctor confirmed an infection in my spine. When I cancelled my surgery and the other doctor at Cedars confirmed my infection I never heard from Rasouli again. read more

I don't know the right words to express my gratitude to Dr. Rasouli and his team at Rasouli Spine. But, thanks to them, I got my life back! I had been dealing with terrible neck pain all through the pandemic, having severe pain attacks daily at random. I had been to three pain docs, three neurologists, three chiropractors, an accupuncturist, and ended up doing consults with 7 neurosurgeons. As I had a prior 2 level ACDF fusion, six of these neurosurgeons turned me down, even though an upright MRI showed I had a herniated disc at C3-4. If that wasn't bad enough, while searching for a neurosurgeon for my neck, issues arose with my lumbar area that were just as urgent. I developed saddle numbness in June, and none of the surgeons in my area knew what to do about it. Each week, that problem grew worse, threatening my ability to walk and more. Dr. Rasouli looked at my records and MRIs and said he could fix both issues with two outpatient surgeries, all in one week. That seemed impossible. But, we decided to go for it, as my neck pain was so severe, and I had no life. I had run out of conservative options. I couldn't drive, do chores, travel, sit at a computer, or plan any kind of social activity. It was painful for me to even ride a few miles in our car. So, we decided to go for it. To fly to LA, get the two surgeries, recoup in a nearby hotel and fly back. It seemed like Mission Impossible. But, Dr. Rasouli and his team all came together to help. His staff took care of all the insurance preauthorizations too, and somehow they got both operations approved. They even suggested local hotels for us. The whole process went smoothly. I had an ADR implanted on a Monday, and then had a laminectomy at L3 on Wednesday. Though I was terrified of neck surgery, this surgery was one of the easiest surgeries I've ever had. The next day, I was up walking around the area sight seeing! In addition, Dr. Rasouli removed a titanium plate and 6 screws in the front side of my neck, from my ACDF fusion in late 2018. The plate had amassed a great deal of scar tissue, and was interfering with my ability to swallow. Not only that, but I'd had had bizarre tongue and throat pain issues for 5 years since that plate was implanted. Lucky for me, Dr. Rassouli had the skill to remove that plate, and my tongue and throat pain are gone, and my swallowing issues have improved significantly! My neck pain 8mproved dramatically with the ADR, too. My lumbar surgery was also a great success. In short, I have my life back. I'm no longer in severe pain. And all it took was a few weeks to heal and I remain in zero level back pain. ZERO. Seventeen years ago, I had two discs blow quite out of the blue. Instead of the microdiscectomy I was promised, the surgeon literally butchered my spine, taking out too much bone and facet joints. This left my back very unstable, requiring my first lumbar fusion. Dr Rasouli absolutely saved my life. I have had a total of 4 ADRs (Artifical Disc Replacements) in L5-S1 and C3-4, 4-5 and 5-6. I had my original lumbar disc following 2 failed lamenectomies (not performed by Dr. Rasouli but a local Doctor in my hometown). I had a stage 3 lumbar herniation and could barely walk. I was on 1200mg of Neurontin for nerve pain. I had the surgery as an outpatient and was home the same day. I literally walked 2 miles (slowly) post op day #1. Dr. Rasouli gave me his cell number should I need it. I had a 2 week recovery and was back to work. Once cleared I began working out as I was pain free and tapered off Neurontin (no longer needed). Approximately 1 year later with intense weight lifting and workouts I began having nerve pain in my right arm. I never knew I had any issues with my neck so I tried many alternative treatments such as Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Massages, Yoga all to no avail. I had an MRI and was told I had another herniation; however, this time cervical. I immediately called Dr Rasouli and got scheduled for a Tele visit. I did have 2 epidurals 3 weeks apart to assist with the pain while I waited for surgery. Once I saw Dr Rasouli he explained the 3 disc involvement and stated he could fix all 3 on one visit. I waited 8 months to finally get the spinal sè to wait months 8 months for surgery with him and I have been an exemplary patient and did ever I was asked to ensure a successful surgery, The morning of my surgery As I was waiting a while for the Anastheologist to inject me so I would sleep. However, I beat him to it and fell asleep hard in my hospital bed before they got the chance to prick me. Rasouli and the Anastheologist thiughtbInwaa so rude and so they cancelled my surgery and told Me tool go Hone and I was devastated. Both times he cancelled it was at the very last moment and both times he made some very crude and offbeat remarks to me, causing me to cry. If that ween't enough, he called me at my home one evening and began speaking to me in a completely different language which I do not speak.. Now It's been 10 months of wasted time. I was (finally) told In confidence by another of his colleagues , that the problem all along is that he has no training at all in an important portion of this surgery and so he was waiting to get someone who was qualified to operate with him, but he never did. How can a surgeon make that kind of decision on his own while risking the well being of the patient ? I am indeed pleased and grateful for not only the very positive surgical outcome, but also for the very professional and responsive staff communications I've experienced. If they gave me 10 stars for BEYOND AMAZING that would be a more accurate rating for Dr. Alex Rasouli. His brilliance and surgical talent have given me my life back!! I was referred to Dr. Rasouli by my last ditch effort with a pain management doctor in hopes that we could get better clarity on the source of my pain. I had a bad fusion of my L4/L5 back in 2017 which put me in progressively worse and worse chronic pain to the point where I could barely walk and had to use a cane. I basically lost my life for four long years. I was in and out of a prominent pain clinic to no avail. I then tried a different pain doctor in desperation, and that lead me to the miraculous and brilliant hands of Dr. Alex Rasouli. My first contact with Dr. Rasouli was during the thick of covid. Unlike most doctors he insisted on seeing me in person. He really heard my pain and his empathy, authenticity and genuine concern gave me hope when I felt so hopeless. At my first appointment with Dr. Rasouli he pinpointed my problem immediately and then confirmed it with an MRI. Basically, my L3 was CRUSHED because of my prior surgery. He told me I had a good chance of beating at least 3/4 of my pain. I really hoped it would be 100% but I had no other options, as I had tried EVERYTHING with no success, just getting worse and worse, and not understanding why. Dr. Rasouli removed my old hardware. ALL OF IT!! He replaced it with new cutting edge hardware that would enable me to regain a much higher level of flexibility and natural movement. He put a clear acrylic peak spacer in to replace my crushed L3 and then fused my L3-L5/S1. Basically most of my lower back. I am ecstatic to say that I am very close to 0% pain!!! I had my surgery on Feb 26th 2021 and have made my 3x a week aqua therapy and land physical therapy my NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! And it is paying off handsomely. I still have a long way to go. In a few weeks, I should be CANE FREE FOR LIFE!! I am a very young 62 years old. Nobody ever believes it when they meet me. I look mid fourties and have lead a full life up until 2017. The complete recovery process takes 6 months to a year. I backslid so far because of those horrible 4 years, I am in NO HURRY. I have had a problem with my neck for years. The pain was going down both arms and into my hands. My doctor told me it was time for surgery and gave me 3 names. Dr Rasouli was one of the 3 I consulted with. The other doctors suggested I have multi level fixes. Dr Rasouli was the first to sit down with me and review my MRI. He showed me where my symptoms were coming from and said he'd replace the 2 discs, out patient (yipppeeee! I met Dr. Rasouli a few weeks ago for a consultation about some neck and upper extremity issues I was having. I had a great experience during this first visit and thought that he spent adequate time evaluating me and explaining the issues and the treatment options. I have a new life when the doctor and the surgical team whispered on my ear that the surgery is successfully done on April 30 ,2021. I was in extremely pain on my right leg , back and foot for 2 years. I went to many medications for pain relieved ,tablets medications, 4 doses of epidural injection, many pain management doctors and many spine surgeons visits. It did not work. Even pain management doctors or other spine surgeons kept telling me to keep injecting epidural again and again, but...... it did not work. Only Dr.Rasouli told me that "You need surgery to fix this". I have appointment to do the fifth dose of Epidural injection the day following Dr.Rasouli's visit. Just finished with my neck surgery with Dr. Rasouli. I was in by eight, out by four, and eating in an out burgers by 5:30. Seriously. I had 3 C-Spine replaced. I was on pain medicine for 2 days, switched to Advil because I had very little pain. The support staff was incredible. They had a very positive attitude from start to finish, almost unheard of support from the staff. One week post surgery I got hiccups, and forgot to take my muscle relaxer pill. I started them for two days, And went off of them. Five days after my surgery, I was driving Tractors again, and enjoying life with no more pain. Thanks Doc, and thanks to your staff. For some unknown reason Dr. Rasouli did not gave me a referral which he promised me from the video visit. He was nice during the visit but after that he didn't communicate with me at all. Email, DM through app, phone I tried all. I had bad therapist experiences which triggered my vertigo so I asked Dr. Rasouli for someone who is he trusts and he said yes at first then no new from him after. There is no perfectionism.
