Growing up in Miami, my parents used to always bring my siblings and I here for a special treat and it is one my favorite childhood memories. Very bad service by an arrogant and rude attendant. Apparently, he hates his job. We were three women, ask if they had raspados and he, bothered by the question, pointed at the end of the counter about 8 ft away. As we noticed that he was not paying attention to us, we told him that we were waiting and he responded with anger and rudeness that we were bothering him from the beginning and told us to wait raising his voice and stupidity level. Raspado Loly is an ice cream shop where you can get flavors that are typical in Nicaragua. Flavors such as nancite, tamarindo, dulce de leche, etc. They also have your normal shaved ice with a variety of flavors to choose from. My favorite is el Relleno. It consists of dulce de leche (caramel) and pound cake layers. Aside from ice cream, they also have candy and other Nicaraguan goodies such as cajeta, rosquillas (corn & cheese cookies) , and pico (triangular bread with a filling of cheese with some sweetness to it). This place is delicious however the inside of store looks like it needs some TLC and the parking is always a hassle. I recommend coming towards night time when there is less people. read more

Today was such a big disappointment, came to visit my sister from Cape Coral, and wanted to treat her to a raspado. I asked for 9 raspado rellenos de Dulce de leche, and to my surprise, when we got home, there was barely any dulce de leche and only counted 6 tiny pieces of the pound cake. The taste was there, but the quality has gone down the train. These are not cheap raspado. The original owner knew how to keep the quality of her product, but I can't say the same for the people incharge. Very delicious raspados! The plaza is small so there is not much parking. There was a line out the door, and the two employees that were working there were very efficient. We got the dulce de leche raspado and the jocote raspado. Both were delicious and perfect during the hot weather. I know the relleno is a must get, but the one with fruits are really good too. My boyfriend and I actually like the jocote raspado the best. If you go with a friend I recommend getting one relleno (or just dulce de leche) and one fruit flavor. read more

When my husband and I walked in one woman was sweeping. We stood waiting to be attended and even called her attention multiple times but she never stopped sweeping. After months of attempting to try the famous Relleno, today was the d-day. We arrived and were corteusly greeted by the gent in charge. Knowing what we would have, we ordered two rellenos and glanced at the menu while ice was shaved, placed into a cup sauced with dulce the leche. Then some pound cake (bizcocho) pieces went in, topped with more shaved ice, and final smother of dulce de leche. My suggestion to eat it: grab the spoon and stir until everything blends.
