In comparison to other bars, this is definitely one of the most expensive places to get cocktails in Florence at 20 EU a drink.

As a solo traveler, this place was perfect! First of all, Romina was amazing, amazing hostess with the most-ess! She literally knows everything and anything that's going on in Florence; and she even has her own app!! From the best tiramisu in town to live music, to the "hot new restaurant" - she'll guide your way. So this gorgeous "hostel" was previously an elementary school... gorgeous architecture with marble floors! (I'm sure not too many hostels have that...) But if you can remember your old small gymnasium.. well yeah, that's the main "lobby" part of Tasso, with a bunch of tables and sofas to lounge. And the gym stage is where Tasso hosts the frequent local music acts that play on the weekend! Yeah... how cool is that?!? :) My solo room was quite large, extremely comfortable bed... locker inside to stow my belongings. (Just remember to bring your own combo lock with.) Shared bathroom was totally fine.. i never had to wait; nor do I think I even remember hearing anyone else go in there. ?? Loved this place! It was a total yelp find.. I can't recommend high enough. And I'll absolutely stay here again with future visits to Florence. Being on the other side of the Arno was great... it was certainly "less touristy". I stayed in Florence for a few days, so I even found "my own coffee shop" that i'd frequent because I stayed at Tasso. Tons of charm... amazing service.... totally secure location... comfortable beds... and I met the coolest people from all over the world!

We always cabbed to the train station because it was only €14 and we had a group, but you could walk if you're up for a 25 minute trek, not bad at all. Make sure you book in advance to stay here in Florence! We had the best trip here and credit that partially to the wonderful hostel.

We spent two nights at Hotel Lungarno and enjoyed two nightcaps and two breakfasts at Picteau…read moreduring our stay. I didn't even know the name of the place until I looked it up. I guess it's a well regarded restaurant in its own right, but it was also just a good, useful hotel lobby lounge. The space was attractive, like the rest of the hotel, with a clean, pleasing contemporary look. White walls, blue and white upholstery, brown leather. Wide windows overlooking the Arno. It was nice as both a bar in the evening and a casual breakfast spot in the morning, very relaxing with great service. Cocktails were excellent, creative and well made. On the light side, I liked both the Basil and the Conte di Picche. The Basil was a cool, herbal drink with Portofino dry gin, Persichetto liqueur, basil-infused Martini Ambrato, rhubarb Nardini, Fernet Branca, and lime cordial. The Conte di Picche mixed Winestillery Old Tom gin with a Nardini bitter blend and raspberry wine. On the stronger side, the Smoked Boulevardier was a boozy, balanced cocktail made with Michter's Kentucky bourbon, Campari, Carpano Antica, and Toro Ratafia. The Cocoa combined Michter's bourbon with Michter's rye, Roger amaro, Pedro Ximenez San Emilio, and cocoa beans. Smooth and tasty. Breakfast was included with our stay, and we took advantage of both the buffet and the basic a la carte menu. The buffet was small but with all the essentials and more than a few extras. Good soft scrambled eggs and sausage, little poppy seed rolls piled with smoked salmon and basil. I'm not much of a pastry person, but I couldn't resist a fluffy cream-filled maritozzo, which went beautifully with the house cappuccino, thick with milk foam. The kitchen menu was short and simple: oatmeal, various preparations of eggs, and omelets with a choice of fillings. I got one with sausage, spinach, and mushroom, and it was quite satisfying. I liked Picteau enough that I'd recommend it to anyone traveling through Florence, whether or not they're staying at Hotel Lungarno. I especially liked it, though, as a guest. Just a lovely spot to roll in for breakfast or an easy drink.

BLUF: a truly 5-star dining experience in a beautiful setting…read more We went to Picteau restaurant for our final dinner in Italy, and are glad we did. it is located in the Lungarno hotel. If you are going to dine there, be sure to make a reservation and if the weather is nice request a patio table. The patio is small, but it's a great experience to be out there overlooking the river while you eat. Service is both friendly and top-notch. Waiter seemed to know the right time to come to the table w/o being obtrusive, and kept the meal flowing all along. The food was exquisite. One thing to know is that the starters are big enough for two. We didn't know that so we got two. The first was a caprese salad, which came with a chunk of buffalo mozzarella the size of a softball, creamy and delicious. It also had orange and red cherry tomatoes, which were sweet as they were but came in a delicious italian herb dressing. The other starter was beef carpaccio, which came on a bed of arugula and covered with parmesan slices. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, the best carpaccio I've ever had. For the main entree we both got the same thing, burrata ravioli in zuchini and saffron cream. OMG, it was great. If it wasn't such a fine restaurant I would've licked my plate clean. For dessert we shared something called a Bongo, which was custard filled bigne with cocoa and espresso sprinkled on it, along with some ice cream. Really delicious This place is not cheap, but if you are on a budget and planning one "big dinner" night, do it here.

A taste of the states in Florence, Italy…read more Believe it or not, when you're traveling in Italy for 12 days and pretty much only drinking prosecco and aperol spritz's this was a WELCOME change of pace. P.S. if you didn't know, cocktail culture in Italy is not a thing. This was one of the ONLY cocktail bars we stumbled upon during our trip and the atmosphere brought us in from the street. The atmosphere is hipster, retro, memorable and fun! The cocktail list is TO DIE FOR. The owner who was serving us, spent two years in the states mastering the art to bring it back. The list was super creative and well balanced for the season and heat. I opted for a cocktail with fresh squeed Grapefruit, Gin, fresh JUNIPER BERRIES, rosemary and elderflower tonic. It was served in a giant wine glass with ice and they give you the tonic on the side so you can make it as strong as you want. I thought this presentation was lovely, whimsical and fun. The cocktail was one of the best I've ever had and that is saying A LOT. Since I've been back I cannot stop thinking about it. For my second I got a blackberry, sage drink. It was good, but not nearly as memorable as the first. The hubs got an aperol spritz again, and to finish we got some sparkling rose - perfect for a hot night. We just did not want to leave this place! The service, the quality, the atmosphere. This place is killer!
