Wow, what a gem located in downtown Tustin. We wandered in and found ourselves in record/vinyl/collector heaven! This is a small place packed to the gills with the best stuff. Lots of records, cassette tapes, cds, and comic books. There's some tshirts, stickers, pins, coasters, and the funniest cards (birthday, engagement, wedding, etc) with very funny/ silly and mildly inappropriate humor and drawings (but so fun!). There's lots of collectible toys and goodies all over. It feels so fun inside. You can tell the owner is a true collector and the store reflects that. It is packed but not overwhelming (does NOT feel like a junk store). Everything is well ordered and neat. If you love music please come support this shop. It's a gem! read more

I stopped by Rasta Cowboy Records because my dog was really thirsty, so I grabbed a bottle of water and a can of soda. When I went to pay, the owner told me the total was only $1.50. I handed him $3, thinking he had undercharged me, but he insisted that $1.50 covered both and said, "We don't need to become rich by charging a lot." That kind of honesty and kindness is rare these days. Beyond just a record store, this place has a great vibe, a genuine spirit, and an owner who truly cares about people. Super cool shop!! I have been in many record stores in my life and this one was really nice. Everything is neat & organized. The man behind the counter was really friendly. Lots and lots of records, cassettes, clothing all pretty reasonably priced. I loved their selection of stickers & buttons in a glass case. I like how they have the shop laid out & displayed for the customers. I saw a bin full of band stickers that were .50 cents or 3 for a $1! I bought 15 stickers of various bands, the Stones, Queen, Genesis etc. My daughter got a $2 large button of Robert Plant. Didn't buy any records this time around but I'm happy with my stickers HaHa. I wish this shop was in my neighborhood I'd be going all the time. If you are in the area go check out their huge selection I'm sure you'll enjoy the place and maybe grab a bargain or two. read more

Who would have thought this gem was in Old Town Tustin? It's funny because with their name "Rasta Cowboy", you just figure the owner should have dreadlocks (which he doesn't). The store reminds me of the great old used and new record stores of the old days (anyone remember Music Market in Costa Mesa)? Eclectic but excellent selection of items. The owner, Tom, has a good knack for bringing in albums you would want to buy yourself. The prices are very fair - some downright cheap. By the way, he does buy old albums in good condition. Bring them in and he'll let you know what he would like to buy and give you immediate payment. We were able to sell off a large number of 70s and 80s music for a fair price. read more

Greeted right away when I walked in. I saw the store while driving down the street, so I stopped in the try and find a particular record. Everything was organized, clean and decorated. Unfortunately I did not find what I wanted, but I walked around and looked at everything. Prices were good, of course the more popular bands are going to be a bit pricey but that's okay. Wow, don't make the same mistake I have made for YEARS!!!! I've seen this record shop so many times I have never walked in, until TODAY. This shop has an incredible variety of vinyls, classics to modern. But the kicker is this place offers so much more EYE CANDY for the collector and nostalgia in all of us. I got off early at noon today so I FINALLY had a chance to stop in! I am thrilled that they finally opened a record store in Old Town Tustin, it's finally looking modern. Tom is very friendly, we already talked before he opened the store about music and my record collection which I will sell soon, just give me time to look through my storage! This wild and crazy record shop is funky'er than a pick sticking out of a Amish coke dealer's afro. There's a lot going on here. Long rows of double stacked bins filled with vinyl and compact discs. All styles from back then to right now. However it seemed heavy metal to the harder stuff (grindcore, etc) and techno (EDM to the newbies) are not the main attraction. Prices are average and on par with condition and availability. There were some goodies and treasures to be found, and not just on wax. The toy section is awesome. I grew up in Tustin. Downtown has had its ups and downs over the decades. It's now really nice. I'm happy to see good people there such as Rasta Cowboy Records. read more

Rasta Cowboy Records is great! There are lots of fun collectibles lining the walls of the store and of course there are a ton of albums to thumb through for hours. I was in the market for more classic country and big band albums and I found them! Tom, the store owner, is very helpful and thorough in his selection of records to sell, testing them all out before placing them on the sales floor. They have a good thing going here. They have vinyl of all eras and genres. Lots of exceptional local art on the walls and they do their best to support local music. Shirts, books, stickers, patches, even instruments. The vibe was good and vinyl guru, Tom was very inviting. If you have a decent stereo system, be sure to examine the albums 1st because some are not in very good condition. I bought a used Gabor Zabo-Spellbinder for $25. It is from 1966 so I understand it could have been played many times but it had a constant crackle as if a heavy needle had played on it. But for $25 I had expected better. He would not let me exchange it as he say he played it and said it was priced per sound. I also just found the album sells online for $14.99 on REVERB.COM so his prices aren't that good either. read more

My daughter and I have been wanting to visit the shop for sometime. A little intimidated because we're New to vinyls. We live about .2 of a mile from the record store and so glad we went in! Tom the owner is such a sweet, informative, and such a passionate seller/collector! He made us feel at home the minute we walked in and answered all my questions! We purchased some Xmas gift we are so excited to gift! We stopped by again because my daughter couldn't stop talking about the shop! To her surprise she getting a record player for Xmas! Recently started purchasing records and decided to search for a local store that carries vinyl. After a quick google search, we came across this place today and zoomed on over. It is small, but there is a lot to be found. They do have some newer music content on hand, but overall this place is jam packed with albums of the past. The prices seemed pretty fair for most items. There are a lot of gems to be found here, if you have the patience to search through all the bins. They are pretty much alphabetized as best as they can be. We didn't find anything we had to go home with today, but there were some "maybe next time" finds. The store was clean, with a lot to look at. There are toys, records, cds, dvds, etc. A fun place to stop by and kill some time at while in Old Towne. The guy working was polite and not overbearing. After acknowledging us, he kept to himself. I appreciate that at times. Sometimes you don't want to get stuck in a long conversation, being shown every great hit on hand! He seemed cool and down to earth. Nice store overall! read more

The owner is knowledgeable and very helpful. We haven't played records since we were in our teens in the 80's so when we got a 1976 Pioneer turntable, we needed some information on how to hook it up. Turns out we needed a pre amp and amp to play with our vintage Realistic speakers. It's been very fun for my husband and I to pick out big band and jazz records together to play at home (with a glass of wine and fire in fireplace of course). I can spend hours here digging through some records and looking at all there collectables. There's always great music playing. The owner Tommy is very nice and sweet. All my husband wanted for our Anniversary this year was a Ritchie Valens Record, he didn't have it at the store at the time, but he found it for me somewhere else and picked it up for me now that's what you call great service..i even found a Buddy Holly record for me! I will be back for more Records as the selection is huge! He also has a lot of Reggae which I'm going to go back for.
