Great help from some of the young women who ride at the stable. The team's expertise and calm manner put even the most nervous riders at ease. They took the time to ensure everyone felt safe and confident, which made the experience enjoyable for riders of all ages and abilities. Our children, in particular, had the time of their lives and are still talking about the horses and the people who helped them. A special highlight was meeting the proprietor, Mr. Morgan O'Brien. His deep knowledge of the area's history, combined with his passion for sharing it, added a rich layer of storytelling that made the day even more memorable. Listening to his tales about the heritage of Castlefergus and its equestrian traditions was a privilege in itself. This was more than just a horseback riding experience--it was a warm, personal, and educational journey that we will cherish. The facility has a Museum, but the real fun is the grounds around it. Think rolling Irish meadows - about 100 acres. They have trails for people that have never ridden before, water play area for the horses, and huge meadows with many jumps. My 16-year-old daughter has been riding for the past 5 years. She was in heaven. She rode Princess, a small white pony. That pony has some moves! She can jump her height. I'm 6'2" and they set me up with "Mr. Big". Cost was approx. $35/hour (the Euro is trading at 1.25/dollar) per rider, plus I gave a 20 Euro tip to our guide.

Hazel Chocolate Mountain Burren Chocolatier is a lovely little shop and I believe there's a little cafe on site as well though we didn't stop in there. The chocolate shop serves up delicious and beautiful chocolates in a variety of ways. When we were in, we were happy to explore the shop as well as hear a bit about the business and their approach to chocolate from one of their lovely workers. We took home some pretty truffles for gifts as well as Irish whiskey truffles for ourselves (a delight!). Definitely worth the stop. One note: The cafe is in the front and the chocolate shop is through the outdoor arch toward the back. Get to it!

The lady who was working the store did a small sampling with us and gave a quick backstory. It was a nice, local business to stop in and support on our way to Galway.

The owls and birds of prey looked particularly distressed, especially in the case of one of the barn owls. The 'play area' smelt fowl and was so unpleasant we could stay in there! For a third of the walk around the farm we saw no animals, apart from cows, which were in the neighbouring farm. Save your money and your disappointment and don't go.
