We had the most fantastic time at Ration Wine Bar and we absolutely recommend it. My wife and I were in town to visit the gorgeous Letchworth Park before going to the Bills game. The wine bar was very close to our AirBnB so we walked down and had dinner and drinks. The servers were absolutely excellent - very friendly, very knowledgable, not condescending at all (which you might expect at some wine bars). We had the mussels and tried their wine recommendations and a few moscow mule variations. Everything was fantastic! We had such a great time that we came back the next day for their brunch! At that time we tried their amazing french bread with apples, and my wife had an incredible cabbage soup. Again, blew us away. We had such a great time that we came back that night for more drinks! We had a great time chatting and talking about the town. It was truly one of the best times I've had in a small town and we were thoroughly impressed by everything Ration Wine Bar had to offer. We went with another couple on a Wednesday night and had a great time. We sat outside on the patio and it was very festive with strings of lights and a lovely view of the vegetable and flower gardens. The service was outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed the charcuterie board and hummus dishes. It was plenty of food for the four of us. My only suggestion is that the wine menu needs to be available on the patio, because we did not appreciate the full breath of wine offerings. What we drank was very good however. Lovely place in downtown Perry, NY. If you happen to be in the area and want good wine and great atmosphere I will recommend this place 100%. The wine selection and draft beers are pretty good. The food is like "tapas" small plates but great flavor! We order the charcuterie and it was amazing! The bread and the variety of meat was the catch. We also order the chocolate mouse dessert, rich, flavorful, recommended to share it with your partner, friend or family members. Lovely little town with gems places like this! The character of the experience is established from the outside in. Beautifully detailed interior, poured concrete bar and exposed (pre-civil war) stone wall are the two defining elements. Good options for seating - long skinny tables for drinks-only, several high tops for 4 that can be slid together, several tables for 2-4 down low, a couple comfy chairs by the window, 8 seats along the bar, and even outdoor dining for fine weather out back. Service is friendly and attentive and the staff is generally knowledgable about the wines they keep on rotation, their origin, grapes used, and often a little lore to go with it, along with advice for pairing with light meals or appetizers also on the menu. I do love the 2 oz pour - as a regular, I can now drink better vintages than I otherwise would, and learn more about wine than I have in my life up til now. They have desserts available as well, beautifully presented. Keep this in mind - you can enjoy the atmosphere even if you don't drink wine. They have beer and cider from local sources, and non-alcoholic options as well. Finally, they have started pour over coffee (and decaf) as well as a selection of hot teas, served with cast iron teapots. I don't believe this is even on the menu as of writing, so don't forget to ask. I can now go out in the evenings with my wife or son for some gaming and hot drinks. It's a new favorite place for me to add to the list of places I love to take our guests. read more

Great wine bar. Totally unexpected find in a cool little town. Stopped by with my daughter who is in Geneseo for the summer. Not a huge list, but well curated. Some local/Upstate NY beers, a cider or two, and a small but very nice selection of wines. Your choice of 2, 5, or 8 ounces, or a bottle, with a range of prices. First visit to the wine bar. We arrived on a late Saturday afternoon, and we're warmly welcomed when we entered. We took a seat at the bar and were immediately given a food menu, a wine menu and a menu listing other beverages available (Beer, cocktails, seltzer, ciders for those who aren't fans of the grape). The wine list is extensive and we easily found a great Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio. They offer several different pour sizes, 2 oz., 5 oz., 8 oz., or a bottle - which is great because it allows you to try different wines if you want. The food menu offered several different items to a full charcuterie board, or you could choose from a small list of cheeses, meats and spreads to make your own. We chose cheddar cheese, summer sausage. When the board arrived it had our meat and cheese selection along with warm toasted baguette, pickled onion, pickled mustard seeds and a lovely berry jam. We enjoyed ourselves, we weren't rushed and attended to very well. We will be back, and we certainly will share this gem with friends. read more
