I came across this café while looking for a quiet place to get some work done, and I'm so glad I did! First of all, the name caught my attention because I'm a huge Edgar Allan Poe fan. I was pleasantly surprised that the Poe theme is clever and subtle rather than overly cheesy. The décor has more of an antique bookstore feel, with fun Poe inspired names throughout the menu. Despite the theme, there's nothing dark or dreary about this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Our waiter was friendly and had some great recommendations. The soup sampler was easily the highlight for me. I've never seen anything like it before! I tried the baja chicken enchilada, mushroom with brie cheese, beef chili with beans, and the special of the month potato curry. I ranked them from favorite to least favorite, but honestly, everything was delicious in its own way. My drink and sandwich with a side of potato salad was very tasty! I finished the whole thing! If you're a Poe fan, the witty menu names will definitely make you smile. The food is good, portions are satisfying, and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building, the upstairs seating area is only accessible by stairs. Quaint, charming café that serves lunchtime treats, coffee, and pastries. The hot cocoa is divine! I really like the literary/"dark academia" vibes and decor, as well as the many cute birdie knick-knacks roosting about the space. Such a treat to find this place in Port Huron. Close to the water in the downtown area. The Raven has an extensive food as well as drink menu. There's open seating up and downstairs. Our server was amazing especially with how busy they were. The Bloody Mary was excellent. Perfect amount of spice. I got the bon bon olive feta melt with turkey. It was so good. Melted feta and provolone cheese with black and green olives, red onion and green pesto on an olive baguette. Delicious. My friend got the Maelstrom salad with turkey, cranberries, Gorgonzola and bacon along with the lobster bisque which was delicious. All the dishes we saw looked amazing. The decor was cool with the books sheleves. But the service was terrible. When I enetered I saw the sign with the availble soups. But the wiatress confidently told me that they only had the soups listed on the menu, until I took a picture of the board, and she asked kinda rudely if I wanted to change my order. But no aknoledgment of her error. I aksed about the total amount of soup in the sampler versus the meal size because i was hoping to try different soups as my meal. But no one could tell me other than by usig their hands how big the portions were. I ordered the mushroom brie soup. It was bland. Icould not detect the Brie from the cream that was added and based on the brown color there likely wasn't much brie. It was very salty to the point that I couldn't eat much of it. read more

The staff is way overworked. Totally poor service unrelated to our waitress Danielle who spent the morning with her hair on fire trying to serve everyone. Greedy ownership runs short staff eaters so they make more. After 45 minutes we were finally waited on. Bacon came back cold and watery even after specifically ordering it crispy. Went here to grab a quick coffee and appetizer to go. The ambiance and whole vibe of this restaurant is truly one of a kind. Not only the exterior but the interior was extremely detailed and unique. I ordered the milky way iced and the spinach and artichoke dip. Both came out fast for them being pretty much full. The milky way was extremely light and could barely taste the coffee flavor. I will admit i like very strong coffee. The whipped cream made up for it being thick and tasty. I did not try the spinach and artichoke dip but my friend said it is the best she's had! Overall the drinks were okay. I would recommend ordering an extra shot of espresso in it if you wanted a more coffee based drink. Will be back to try more food next time I'm in town! read more

I enjoyed a 20-ounce Nutty Irishman latte for a warm-up. I then chose a bowl of the lobster bisque soup, which was one of nine soups available but average. My entree was a delicious Pit and Pendulum grilled Reuben with homemade potato salad and a dill pickle. The lure to this eclectic place is the presentation. It is based on "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. There are bookshelves, bizarre artwork, and interesting figures. There is two-story seating with a rear balcony. Friendly but non-attentive service, as I had to ask for water refills and she left all the used dishes at my single table to maneuver around. There is a full espresso bar, eight rotating microbrews, a cocktail lounge, sandwiches, salads, nine soups, free Wi-Fi, breakfast, and live music. Shirts, hats, mugs, and more are available for purchase. The staff and environment exude a Seattle coffee house vibe. It's a cute place with a cool theme and is likely great for neighborhood folks who have their regular orders and stop in since it's close. Cons: I felt the place could have used a detailed cleaning. They brought out my friend's salad with *completely brown/gray avocado* on it. And when I say completely gray, I mean completely. Why it left the kitchen and made it to the table is a mystery. We addressed it with the server. Server was nice, but seemed perhaps not as informed about details of menu and drinks. I ordered the peanut butter mocha, but tasted no PB at all. This spot was recommended by a friend a while back and we finally tried it, it did Not disappoint! The food and drinks were amazing. My sister had the roast beef and cheddar sandwich with fancier potato salad (mayo based plus bacon and chives) and I had the California Club and standard potato salad (mustard based). My sandwich was on a heartier bread that was grilled with garlic butter, and it did not overpower. Between the toasted bread, turkey tomato and avocado it was the Perfect combination of texture and flavors! My sister said the same about hers. They are a coffee shop with a Well stocked bar + draft choices. My sister had the "Bees in a Barrel" cocktail and it was a "juicy" pour! I enjoyed a "Magic Hat" which was lighter and refreshing. See photos for ingredients. The ambiance was a cozy bookshop feel, plenty of classic artists (literary, musical) acknowledged wherever you looked. Great music played overhead and they have live music on certain days. Menu had So many offerings for many categories, the drink menu was equally as large as the food one, located on the tables: heavy wooden tops with iron pedestals and metal bistro chairs. There was an upper level but we didn't venture up there. We were waited on by a young man who was very personable and I always like when the staff says, "Great choice!" or "Oh that's my favorite!" when I'm ordering. It makes me feel like "this is going to be Good!" and in this dining experience it certainly was. I stumbled upon this quaint Cafe during a trip to Port Huron! The cafe is themed after Edgar Allen Poe...how cool is that! I loved the layout and spent some time exploring the cafe. Because of all the great reviews I read about the Raven, I decided to go there for lunch. What a neat place this is! I came in through the back parking lot, so had to go up the stairs. Lots of fun signs & pictures along the way. I sat at a small table on the main floor -- so much to see! I ordered the half lemon chicken salad sandwich and a cup of mushroom brie soup. The sandwich was fine, but the soup was really good. My server, Idyll, was very good, making sure I had what I wanted and very personable as well. After I ate, I went upstairs -- which overlooks the downstairs. It looks like a comfy library, with couches and books and tables everywhere. Honestly, since I couldn't really find much to do in Port Huron, I should have just hung out there longer. I was staying at the CityFlatsHotel while visiting family in the area and I wanted to find coffee and breakfast on a Friday morning. The Raven was just down the street and just what I wanted: great coffee, great food and friendly people. If it wasn't obvious from the name, the whole establishment is an homage to Edgar Allan Poe. The decor is appropriately quirky, dark and humorous. They have many coffees, and the one I tried, Deadman's Reach dark roast, was excellent. I tried the breakfast B.E.L.T. Sandwich (bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato,) with a spicy mayo, served on some thick grilled pieces of rustic bread. Really an elevated breakfast sandwich. My partner had the Loaded Oatmeal with brown sugar, nuts and dried fruits. Very good. They also have a small retail shop so you can take home coffee and other souvenirs. They serve much more than breakfast and they apparently have live music regularly. The Raven is one of those off the beaten path places (and admit it, Port Huron, MI is pretty far from any path!) that you love to find. dark and sweet experience... My last day in Port Huron, I was taken to a coffee shop because I'm a snob at heart and love discovering hidden gems, and this visit did not disappoint. We entered through the alley, and there was so much to take in that it was impossible not to fall in love with the place immediately. Dark themes include ravens, death, and the author Edgar Allan Poe. The Raven Cafe's inspiration for its collection of "bitty baddies" was a highlight among the local artwork I viewed. I knew the moment I laid eyes on them that I had to have them (now if only they were available as tiny dolls). The swag was so interesting that I ended up buying a few things before I even tried the coffee. Finally, I pursued the menu and ordered a nutty Irishman (mmm, that sounds good) with a classic almond biscotti for dessert Sandwiches, soups, and pastries are among the other tasty options. Check out the brunch and dinner menus, some of which have live acoustic music playing. The coffee may have been the initial draw, but I lingered for the cryptic artwork and rhyming couplets. The cup of coffee I was given was among the best I've ever had. My highest rating (5 stars) goes to a magical encounter at a top-tier coffee shop. read more

We visited Port Huron on a whim and came upon Raven Coffeehouse. Not only is the whimsical atmosphere a joy for avid readers, they also manage to bring in artists and musicians to round out a truly enjoyable experience. The food and drinks are also a favorite. Being vegetarian, there are plenty of delicious options and I don't know what it is, but I've never fallen so hard for a Greek salad. Spices are out of this world and the chipotle ranch is a one of a kind. The hummus veggie sandwich was also bomb - the potato salad was the fuse. Our server was also super chill, professional and easily handling 10 tables at the same time (probably more since there are 2 floors!). I told her my latte had a plastic aftertaste and was curious what oatmilk they used. She said "I haven't had any complaints about our mocha today." She showed me the oatmilk they used.
