Since moving to the area, I frequent the Pelican Cafe often. My boyfriend and I often go for breakfast or anytime we want diner food. The service has always been fantastic. Drinks always stay full. Fast and friendly service. Food is delicious and prices are very reasonable! I frequently get the #4 breakfast special, which is about $5. Prices have gone up over the last year but that's expected. The quality of food is great for the price. You don't break the bank going to the Pelican. I often crave their pancakes! Perfect place to go when you want to have a breakfast date with a friend.

Only had breakfast here a few times and everything was great! Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere

This is your typical family diner with huge plates and huge portions. We were on our way to Port Huron for a boat cruise and saw this restaurant on the way. It's on the east side of Gratiot and we were heading north on Gratiot so it was easy to pull in and pull out!! The menu has all day breakfasts, coneys, Mexican food and American options. I got an omelette and my friend got fish sandwich dinner with French fries. We both enjoyed our meals and the prices were reasonable so if I'm in the area I would probably go again.

Came here for breakfast, and was definitely impressed. I woke up one morning and really felt like having a sit down breakfast meal. Looked up a couple of places on Yelp and found this Gem. At first, I was a little skeptical, as most places that I've had country fried steak it's been really dry, but to my surprise this place nailed it. The country fried steak was very good, and I ordered over medium eggs. The bread was a little On the crunchier side, but nothing that butter or jelly couldn't fix. Also, the pork chops were delicious: they were juicy and super flavorful; they had a very fresh taste. Luckily, this place is around the corner for me, so I will end up frequenting this place often. Super happy I was able to find a peaceful, charming, and delicious place to eat breakfast!!!! Our waitress was very nice, and she made sure our coffee cups were always full (huge plus because she was attentive). The restaurant has a very nice family feel to it: and at the same time there are small tables if it's only 2 people.

Our favorite local dinner! We come for breakfast weekly! Friendly staff and very reasonable! My husband loves their eggs benedict, eggs always cooked to perfection and only $6.99!

I had the cucumber boat stuffed with mayo free tuna, avocado, onion, everything seasoning. My bubble tea- tarro with tapioca could have used a little more flavor. I was really hoping the food would bring some of that Big Easy flavor. I ordered the Reuben, and honestly, it was pretty good! I liked that the corned beef came in chunky pieces rather than thin slices, and the Reaper sauce actually had a nice spicy kick, which I appreciated. The Blue Waters drink was pretty basic, though, and the carrot cake didn't really stand out either. Overall, the food felt more like solid cafe style fare than the bold, flavorful dishes I associate with New Orleans cuisine. I was tempted to try a few more things to see if I had simply ordered the wrong items, but unfortunately, there were quite a few fruit flies flying around, which made me lose my appetite a little. Would I recommend it for authentic New Orleans flavor? Probably not. But if you're looking for a casual cafe with a little New Orleans inspired flair and some decent menu options, it's worth checking out. Just don't go expecting the full Big Easy experience.

When you walk in there is a very comfortable ambiance with very nice decor, updated woodwork, light fixtures and historic pictures/ photos of Port Huron or nautical views. There are many large spacious booths (6 smaller adults could easily fit) and tables as well, which look new but classic diner touches with silver molding/ trim. The staff were very friendly, hospitable and personable giving honest feedback for our choices as 1st time patrons. The coffee was delicious and the mugs had a good feel in the hand. I enjoyed the Country Fried Steak and my over medium eggs were perfectly cooked and delicious on their sourdough toast. Hash browns were buttery and had nice crisp to them. My friend had the Country Benedict and also enjoyed her meal very much. While the country gravy had ample bits of sausage and was plentifully served, it was a tad too thick for me personally; though our server said it was one of their best dishes. There was parking in the street in front the morning we went, not sure of additional parking options. The entrance is on the corner with 2 doors to get in, the door we used had a small step up and I believe the 2nd door may be more accessible for people with mobility challenges. Inside was spacious and his/ hers 1 seater restrooms that could accommodate mobility equipment (wheelchairs or walkers). Pricing was 2/4 $$, and appropriate for the high quality homemade meals you'll enjoy. We were even able to get coffee to go and enjoyed during our drive home to Dearborn! I highly recommend Maria's for a great experience and will definitely be back!

I have images from two different visits in this review. Managed well this restaurant has great food and good service. Been here a number of times and honestly it's usually high class for the region. On this occasion our party of three had cedar planked salmon, red snapper and shrimp, lemon scented salmon with corn salsa and black beans. We also had a wedge salad, seafood bake appetizer and cup of clam chowder. The chowder is a staple and has lots of chunks of potatoes and clams. Wedge salad is good- not in my top 5 but certainly in the top 10. Made right/ great blue cheese dressing! Personally the red snapper and shrimp was lovely. Crusted with Parmesan cheese the red snapper had a nice exterior. I had double veg and appreciated the asparagus. All the food was great the appetizer was awesome. I could have eaten about 10 more shells with that lovely seafood cheese and butter dream. So head on up or down the river and enjoy a nice night! This is situated with a hotel on property. One day I'll eat, drink, stay and update this review! Thanks as always River Crabs!

I was pleasantly surprised that the Poe theme is clever and subtle rather than overly cheesy. The décor has more of an antique bookstore feel, with fun Poe inspired names throughout the menu. Despite the theme, there's nothing dark or dreary about this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Our waiter was friendly and had some great recommendations. The soup sampler was easily the highlight for me. I've never seen anything like it before! I tried the baja chicken enchilada, mushroom with brie cheese, beef chili with beans, and the special of the month potato curry. I ranked them from favorite to least favorite, but honestly, everything was delicious in its own way. My drink and sandwich with a side of potato salad was very tasty! I finished the whole thing! If you're a Poe fan, the witty menu names will definitely make you smile. The food is good, portions are satisfying, and the prices are reasonable. I dropped in during the week and there was zero-wait for a table, although I imagine the place probably bustles on weekends!
