Despite the theme, there's nothing dark or dreary about this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Our waiter was friendly and had some great recommendations. The soup sampler was easily the highlight for me. I've never seen anything like it before! I tried the baja chicken enchilada, mushroom with brie cheese, beef chili with beans, and the special of the month potato curry. I ranked them from favorite to least favorite, but honestly, everything was delicious in its own way. My drink and sandwich with a side of potato salad was very tasty! I finished the whole thing! If you're a Poe fan, the witty menu names will definitely make you smile. The food is good, portions are satisfying, and the prices are reasonable. Upon her return, we indicated that we wanted to start with a couple of appetizers. Each time we asked for something, her answer was, "we're out." They should have estimated how many patrons they would have based on the required reservations and had enough stock prepped. Unacceptable. I looked at her a bit confused, and she says, "well, it's 8 o'clock." Now, it wasn't the phrase; it was her tone, like there was a silent "dumba**" she was holding back. So, at that point, I was done. We kindly asked to pay for our drinks, and we left. Look. I worked in the business for almost 20 years. Your restaurant has about 15 tables-give or take.
