My son lives in the area and had quit using Ford dealers for his car due to a previous egregious experience. Someone recommended Ravenel because of "high reviews and reputation." He had service performed and a resulting problem (ironically like his previous experience of parts not being reattached) and called a service advisor who said sorry. No other offer of resolution or amends. Son asked for a manager to call. Was told a manager would call but didn't. He was ignored. Bad service is excusable if there is an effort to recover. This is a condensed review because of character count restrictions. My chief complaints during this repair experience are the length of repair (3 full months), the quality of repairs to my sunroof (multiple visits), the lack of communication on the status of the repairs over the 3 months they had it, and the cleanliness of my truck when the repairs were complete even after I told them I wanted it cleaned after they left it dirty. I ended up having to pay for the battery cable harness parts and labor plus my warranty deductible totaling $893.57. My service writer had even told me that they would get me a discount on the parts and labor but that never happened. My truck was filthy dirty inside and out, and my fuel level was down to ¾ of a tank when it was full when I dropped it off. The other issues I have a problem with was that it took them 2 months to get me a car to drive, 3 months to repair my truck, and they called me to pick up my truck twice and both times the sunroof wasn't working properly (about 50 unnecessary miles round trip). If I ever have to return to Ravenel Ford again it will be too soon. In fact, I may be selling this truck immediately because I feel like I can't trust the Ford brand or Ravenel Ford to repair my truck in a timely manner or correctly the first time. This was by far the worst repair experience I've ever had with any vehicle. Pros: They were at least nice throughout the process, just not responsive. I live two hours away, so we talked on the phone several times to make sure the vehicle had all the options that I was looking for in an SUV. We came to a very fair price for the Expedition and I drove to physical look at it and take it for a test drive. I bought it and am very pleased with my purchase. Mr. Scutt was very friendly, professional, and informative. He was not aggressive in his sales techniques and the whole atmosphere of Ravenel Ford was pleasant. Several months ago I took my 2003 F150 to the service department. Both back doors were stuck shut and would not open. I received a quote of over $1,000 to fix them. Upon arrival to pick up the truck I was given the bill for the estimate (around $90 or more I believe). I didn't recall being told about a fee for an estimate but paid it without complaining at all. I did not receive a written estimate after paying (this may have been a simple oversight on part of staff, not sure). I called a backyard mechanic who fixed both doors in under an hour with no parts. read more

If you want your car to be in good hands and be repaired or inspected properly go elsewhere. This dealership will do everything they can think of to not honor a factory warranty and thier techs cannot even figure out what parts are stock and aftermarket. Once they realized the part they were blaming for the failure was original to the car and not aftermarket they switched to a different excuse blaming safety equipment (a fire extinguisher) inside the car and stated the car must have been raced in order to have that in the car. Thier story changes every time you communicate with them and eventually was told they would rather the car go somewhere else instead. Poor business managment, untrained and unknowledgeable techs, untruthful employees are just a few things wrong here. I was very delighted not to be swarmed by salemen as soon as I arived on the vehicle lot. 1st person I had contact with was with Joe General Sales Manger. It was around 5:30 pm when my wife and I stopped. After being on the lot approximately 15 minutes Joe appeared and asked if he could be of any assistance. We advised Joe we were just looking and not buying on this particulary day. To our surprise none of the usual salesman BS and started asking what we were particulary interested in. We told him of our plans and that was it none of the , If I can you the price you want can I sell you a vehicle today but wait! My wife mentioned we had purchase new Ford from a another dealership and mentioned some problems with our GPS. Joe spent the next our with us in our vehcile and went through the operation of the GPS. Did not expect that. We returned 15 days later and then we met Dale Tallent. We explained to Dale we had sopken with Joe about purchasing a vehicle. Joe was not there on that particular Staurday so went explained to Dale what our plans were. Thirty minutes later we picked out the F150 that met our needs. Dale acquired all our information and met us up with the dales manager. To make a long story short we endend up leasing and were done with the whole process in approximately 1 hour. This is the worst car dealer my husband and I have dealt with in awhile. The people were so lazy that they couldn't even get up to come outside. We had to go IN to inquire about a vehicle - and it had already been sold, so they don't even keep their website updated. After driving for 2 hours with a screaming baby, we were already a little aggravated, but we proceeded to look at another vehicle on the lot anyway, and still no one even glanced our way - so we will take our business elsewhere. My door lock assembly quit working. I had to take it in and get it fixed. I found out that it had been a recall a few years before and was fixed but ford said that I would have to pay for it. DO NOT buy your used car here. I am a 29year old mother of a two year old. I needed a reliable safe car to drive my daughter to and from school. The salesman swore up and down this was the car for me, Not even a week later the car started smoking out the exhaust, causing our whole front yard to fill with smoke. $1200 later the problem wasnt able to be fixed. It was a flood car from Katrina, the mechanic told us.Something that Ravenel conveniently left out. I now had to oil in the car every week. Fast forward 4 months and after dropping my daughter off, the car seized. I broke down in the parking lot of another autobody shop. This time it was the entire engine. It is going to cost $3700 to get a new engine. This is all within 9 months!!!! read more

RUN FROM THIS SERVICE DEPT!! When I went there for the first time 8 months ago for the "Works Package " (oil change, tire rotation, etc), Brian was so nice and helpful that I wrote a glowing review for him that day. Then I got home and found most of the work had never been completed. The dealership is close by and convenient, so I thought I'd give them one more chance in case it was only one bad technician. I just went in for the same service again, but I took a few precautions this time to make sure the work was actually performed - like marking the outside of my 2 front tires with chalk. After I checked out and paid for the service, I looked at the paperwork and again all the work was checked complete. But again they DID NOT DO the work. I showed the service advisor who was surprised that I had actually marked the tires, so he admitted they didn't do the work and made a few excuses. But he did not offer to actually have someone do the work or make it right. I called the Service Manager who said he was glad I called because he had been brought in 3 months ago to "fix" these problems. He agreed it should not have happened. However, he did not apologize for his dept, nor he did offer for me to bring my vehicle back to have the work completed. He did not do anything to try to retain my business - no offer to oversee my next service or discount a future service. Just "thanks for calling" was his basic message. If this service department is not completing the work it charges for on something as simple as The Works package, I can't imagine the larger jobs they're cheating their customers out of. If you MUST use this service dept, then please take steps to ensure the work is actually completed. They are knowingly charging for services they do not perform. read more

I liked the laid back approach to the customer without high pressure salesmen. However, I didn't realize the "laid back" was extended to how well they stood behind their product and the processing of paperwork. It may be a great place to buy a new car, but buyer beware of the used car department. They don't perform multi-point checks of the vehicle systems (and they mean "as is"). A month and half later, and I had to track them down to start my tag transfer (as it now sits with expired tags)....and somehow it was MY fault, DMV's fault...but not theirs. Their electronic communication is spotty at best. (Who has time to chase down sales/support on the phone!?) Super nice folks but their competence is questionable. read more

My recent experience with Ravenel Ford. I went and test drove a Nissan Titan they had for sale in the used lot. It was a nice vehicle for the price, during the test drive the TPMS light came on, when I returned I informed them, and they took it to service and made the light go out. I then went back 3 times to negotiate the asking price, well they would not negotiate with my trade or the asking price. I was dealing with salesman Ted Blankenship. I sold my car out right, and I eventually came to their terms and agreed to pay the asking price. During the agreement they informed me I would have to pay sales tax, I informed them that I am active duty military and would be registering the truck in my state of residency, and my state does not require me to pay sales tax. After telling Ted this, he completely disagreed and would not listen to my explanation. I was then transferred to the General Manager, I informed him of my situation and we argued on the phone for 30 minutes about the matter. He stated that since the truck had an open bed, I was not exempt, I asked where I could find this law, and he said he didn't know, and that was their rule. I emailed the SCDMV for there response and this was the first time they had ever heard of that, so it was going to have to go up to the Law Analyst for SC legislature. And made numerous phone calls to confirm I was exempt. Well I really needed a vehicle, and decided I would just go ahead and pay them the $300 sales tax fee. When I went to pick up my new to me truck it was filthy, ¼ tank of gas, only 1 ignition key, and the TPMS light was on again. When I asked Ted about these things, he said he would not fill up the truck with gas, it was as clean as they could do, and they only had 1 key for it and no key fobs. They took the truck back to service again for the TMPS, and the service tech explained to me, they had to buy a new sensor and Nissan needed to calibrate it, and that's why the light was on, so I asked how they cleared the light before, and they said they didn't know. I left the dealership and had to go directly across the street to fill it up with gas, when I got home I had to spend the rest of the night cleaning the truck. After a day I noticed the rear backup sonar did not work any more, the cruise control did not work, and after taking the truck to Nissan, 3 out of the 4 TPMS sensors where bad (how did they get the light to turn off at the dealership when first asked?) I understand it was a used truck, but fill it up and clean it... After my deposit was made, they called and said they discovered I would not have to pay the sales tax, No apology for me wasting all my time emailing SCDMV and making numerous phone calls, to prove I was correct. Not only was my salesman extremely rude but so was the general manager, I was at awe at the amount they didn't care about the customer. I made a phone call again to the general manager after receiving a email wanting feedback from me, I informed him of everything I listed in this review, and he informed me my expectations were to high. I asked if there was anything there dealership wanted to do to make me a happy customer, the short answer was no! I would never recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle thru this dealership, and I am really confused on how this dealership has high reviews, maybe I was just the bad apple, but I had such a terrible experience I thought I needed to share with others. read more

They were kind enough to clean out the parking brake parts and sent me on my way back to Jacksonville, FL at a minimum cost! They could have charged a lot more. had a terrible experience at this shop. the service department is worse than a jiffy lube. the tech is uneducated on the vehicles that he works on...and the service writer is there only to dent any warranty you have. have a 2018 mustang gt brought in for transmission at factory warranty and got a call back immediately saying it would probably be denied. the service writer did not want to help from day 1 even though we have bought 3 2018 mustang gt and a 2018 f250 superduty and a 08 suburban. none of that matters when something goes wrong. I left a bad review on google just dor the owner to threaten me to take it down, and then remove it himself. shady business from a small town Crook. do not get a oil change here let alone anything serious. if you don't believe me just walk into the service department and look around. very disappointed in Ford overall just because they allow this shop to crap people over. when I first got the car in 2018, I used the stock line lock app to do a nice burnout. the service writer went on my facebook and screenshot those pics to immediately use against me....so why did the app come with the car if you can not use it one time? they are not there to help you. go to any other ford dealership and save your self some anger from dealing with these techs and service writters read more

***PSA*** Avoid this dealership!!! I bought a used 2014 Ford F150 from them. I had a 36000 mile warranty and began having issues with the air conditioner. The air conditioner was making a loud noise and would stop blowing cold air after a short period. I took the vehicle in to be serviced and have the air conditioner repaired twice for the same issue while under warranty. The second time the vehicle was brought in for this issue it was just before the warranty was about to expire. They continued to state there was no issue with the compressor. Shortly after the second service and after the warranty expired the air conditioner again continued to make the noise and stopped blowing cold air. Over the winter we did not use the cold air and the compressor continued to make the loud noise. I then took the vehicle in to be serviced at another dealership and was told the pressure control switch was bad and the system was overcharged causing the compressor to go bad which was making the noise. I called Ravenel Ford and was told by the service manager that it just did not make since. After I realized the Service Manager could not comprehend the issue I was referred to the General Manager who also refused to acknowledge the issue or rectify the problem. Both were very condescending. Bad service center and customer service, avoid yourself the problem go somewhere else! read more
