We love our killer Kawai baby grand from Rawlins. It's an 80's but Ray R. put a new coat on it and it looks brand new and sounds and plays amazing. Ray is a total perfectionist and spent an extra two days on the finish for us. He even came back to tune it up even after a few months of owning it at my request. Worst service ever !! An obviously unhappy woman named Tony who doesn't enjoy her job or people for that matter. I went in looking to either rent or buy or rent to buy a piano. With every question I asked , she came across with such disdain for even asking any questions . Pianos are not my field so I had several qualifying questions regarding the variables in place for renting or renting with option to buy or just buy outright . ( Normal questions anyone would have ... I think )... but the woman Toni was offended and rude with every question I asked ... I asked her why did she seem so offfended ... I'm just doing my due diligence She then walked over to me and said good luck and she wasn't interested in doing business with me ... ??? WHAT !!! That's crazy ..... This place is great. Ray obviously loves what he does. Great pianos and even better service. He came to my house to fix a key that wasn't quite right...no charge. When we bought our baby grand, he gave us a fair price for our upright. Some nice family in Temecula now owns it. When he comes to our house to tune our piano, it feels like he is stopping by to visit one of *his children*. This man loves what he does. read more

I bought a piano from Rawlin's in 2008 and since them have been getting yearly tunings from Ray. Unfortunately, the piano I have ended up getting a crack in the sound board and it no longer sounds as good as it once did. I decided I was ready to look for a new piano and went to Rawlin's to look at the selection. Buying a piano is a large purchase and it is something I would have for years. I will not buy a piano without spending time trying it first and seeing all my options. I played one of the pianos for 5 minutes, then tried another one that I did not like, so I went to see what else they had. The lady working in the store refused to let me try the other pianos, and she said "we do not have anything nicer, this is not a practice station." I let her know that it is a large purchase and I would not buy such a thing without trying it first, and then I immediately walked out. She closed the door behind me as I left. I could not believe the nerve of this woman and I have never been treated so poorly in a store. They just lost a sale and 13 years of repeat business with yearly piano tunings. I went to 3 other piano stores and spent at least 30 minutes each trying different pianos, and no one said anything. This is very normal when buying a piano, much like buying a car.  I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I recently purchased an upright from Toni and I really appreciate their business. I think I went through 2 rentals over the course of a few years before I settled on an outright purchase, and they accommodated me without pressure and an up front explanation of cost. They traffic these beasts to and from my home, set it up and come back later for tuning. I am developing a real love for the piano later in life and they helped make that happen. Positive: Professionalism, Responsiveness A Rare Form of Honesty - Ray came today to pick up my piano for a restring job, which I thought I needed because the last piano tuner I used (years ago, shamefully) told me the strings were getting brittle and restringing was needed. I couldn't do it then, but I'm now starting to play again, along with my granddaughter, so I thought it was time. Ray looked inside and told me my piano did not need to be restrung at all, and it is in remarkably good shape. So, here's a situation where a customer has no idea and a business could have charged a pretty penny for something the customer didn't know she didn't need. I will be forever grateful to Ray for being honest; he will coming back next week to tune my piano. read more

We had our piano tuned and had some repairs to it. Ray was very helpful and gave us good advice on the care of our piano. He also brought us a new bench for the piano. The bench didn't have matching legs, so he took the existing legs off of the old bench and put them on the new bench to match the piano. When we first started planning our wedding, we knew we needed to rent a piano since I was going to play piano during the reception. I found Rawlin's Piano on Yelp and decided to reach out to them. I am so glad I did because Toni from Rawlin's was so quick to respond and communicative throughout the whole process. She was very accommodating when I wanted to stop by the store to play some of the pianos before selecting which one to rent. The piano sounded wonderful for my performance. it is unfortunate that all these years later, Rawlins Piano is still in a state of such denial. There is absolutely no rational reason, policy or anything else that could justify the treatment I received from Rawlins Piano. Period. I didn't ask them for anything free, despite their claims to the contrary. I never got a chance to even discuss price, because my simple request for a negotiation was all it took to send Ray Rawlins into a tirade. Yes, there are two sides to every story, but that doesn't mean both sides are just. I stand behind every word I have posted. It happened exactly the way I have stated. The experience was mean spirited and ugly and, two sides or not, Rawlins Piano was clearly in the wrong. Toni knows exactly what was done to me as she witnessed it first hand, and never once in the intervening years did she or anyone else from Rawlins contact me to apologize. Now she claims I am on a mission to get my opinion listed? It's not a mission, Toni, it's my right. I don't have to take abuse like Rawlins shelled out and be quiet about it. If you can't live with that then don't treat people the way you did me. You might even consider having the decency of owning up to what you did and posting an apology instead of trying to discredit me. read more

I adore Rawlins Piano! They have been giving the community the gift of beautiful pianos at reasonable prices (both sale and rent) for decades. I started renting our piano (a perfect one for a young family) over three years ago. I was incredibly impressed with the kindness, gentle recommendations and integrity of Ray Rawlins. As an attorney, I was equally incredibly impressed when he described his rental policy to me - completely transparent and definitely more than fair! And I was delighted to find out that even a portion of my rent could be applied towards the purchase of this or another piano. I was equally impressed with how he explained that sometimes people rent past the initial "apply towards the purchase" period and they are unable to apply more - this made complete sense to me! You rent an apartment, you don't get to apply the rent toward the purchase at the end! I remember thinking, at the time, that I would definitely convert to owning before the period ended. BUT, I have gone past the "apply the rent towards the purchase" period now, I found that I like the rental option for us right now because we are still quite a young family. I will BUY our next piano from Rawlins and will take that credit of my partial rent towards its purchase but I am liking the flexibility of being able to choose exactly which piano I truly want to own AND I really like my rented one! I was EQUALLY delighted delighted delighted when Ray himself came and delivered my beautiful piano! He and his son spent ages with me decided exactly the right place for the piano. They expertly tuned it and left it in beautiful condition. Almost three years later, the Rawlins Piano company - this time just Ray, the son -came out to my house recently to move the piano to a different room, again expertly tuned it and was a sheer delight. I found that I had tears in my eyes when I heard that Ray, Sr. had passed away earlier last year. I adore this family owned and operated piano company, they are truly wonderful and give the absolute gift of music for all to treasure in our community.
