Lunch at Que49 Smokehouse…read more My wife and I had lunch at Que49 Smokehouse in Jonesboro. It is the kind of place that instantly jumps into your "must-visit" list if you love real BBQ. All of their sauces are great - Original, Hot Willie's, Vinegar Sauce, and Cranberry Cayenne. I started with the "Ultimate Reuben" and it absolutely lives up to its name! Rich, smoky beef and pork belly pastrami piled high with tangy sauerkraut, melty Swiss, and Russian dressing on perfectly toasted marbled rye. It's the kind of sandwich you plan future visits around! The Burnt Ends were textbook - tender, caramelized, and deeply smoky without being overly sweet. The Tri-Tip Sirloin was equally impressive - juicy, sliced just right, and seasoned to let the beef shine instead of hiding it under sauce. (It was a bit too chewy for my wife but I thought it was perfect!) My wife loved the Que Fries with pulled pork. Crinkle cut fries smothered in house-made cheese sauce, baked beans, green onions, and jalapeños, then topped with that beautifully smoked pork. It's over-the-top in the best possible way, like BBQ nachos leveled up. A big part of what makes Que49 special is the pedigree behind it. Owner Skip Steele is true BBQ royalty! He's the former pitmaster and patriarch of Pappy's Smokehouse, Bogart's Smokehouse, and Dalie's Smokehouse in St. Louis, all consistently ranked among the very best BBQ spots in America. You can taste that experience and attention to detail in every bite here. Jonesboro is incredibly lucky to have Que49 Smokehouse. If you're anywhere nearby and you care about great barbecue, this place is absolutely worth the trip.

The location is convenient with free parking on site. -Ordering is similar to subway. You place your meat order at the beginning of the counter, and along the counter are sides ranging from corn, macaroni, green beans, and other classics vegetables. The menu had a lot of variety. They pulled the meats off the bone right in front of you! -The food was amazing. The barbecue had a great smokehouse taste and great flavor cooked onto the outside. The macaroni was warm, gooey, and delicious. The corn had a nice buttery taste! -If you get a fountain drink, it comes with a souvenir reusable cup you can take home! -We came after the lunch rush and there was no wait for food. Service was fast and delicious. Cons: -Since it was our first time, we had to look at the menu. While we were clearly looking the worker asked to take our order. We asked for just a minute and she huffed loudly and walked away. A different server helped explain how to order and pulled our meats instead. -It is a little pricey for a fast-food style down restaurant; however, the amount of meat and sides given makes it worth it. The quality of food is very good, too! -When we sat to eat, nobody was around us at all. Once our food came, the manager came out to conduct an interview and they sat right in front of us. It didn't seem to be going well for the prospective candidate, so it felt a little awkward since there was nobody else in the dining area. There was a whole other room/side to the dining room away from their only two customers... -The meat was a little cold. The sides were warm, but the meat was not extremely warm.

I had the Smoked bologna sandwich and it was so good. I also loved the take home cups which is a great touch. I will for sure return and eat here again when I am back in town

With the reputation of Memphis bbq, we wanted more than a 4.3..which made this gem about 45 minutes into Arkansas stand out at a whopping 4.7. It was a little more detour than we expected, but totally worth it. Don't be thrown by the town around it. It has seen better days, but it was perfectly safe and everyone we encountered was super nice. When you finally happen upon Beatty Bs make sure the weather is in your favor. This is a to-go setup that is essentially an oversized storage unit with a kitchen. It's clean and well kept, but small with no seating. The smoker is even in a detached screened pavilion. All of this simplicity means one thing, rather than pay for overhead, they can focus on low prices and quality food. I don't think I've ever had meat with such an amazing deep smoke flavor. It was cooked so perfectly it slid off the bone. If I'm ever passing through the area again, I'll definitely be making the detour!

They're supposed to be the best barbecue on all of Highway 70 in the state of Arkansas. But we'll never know. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. and the place was as dark and closed as it could be. Unless you live nearby and know their secret hours, I would not recommend attempting to dine here.
