They are incredibly skilled craftsmen, professional, punctual, courteous, and they never tire being problem solvers. Over the past five years, they have totaly rebuilt my roof, beautified my home with new siding and fieldstone, and installed these incredible interior blind windows by Polaris. I have no idea about the quality of their work because I can't get the estimate that I asked for. I need my roof replaced and "Dan", who was supposed to send me the estimate by the next day, hasn't offered one yet, and it's been 2 weeks. He didn't respond to my voicemail message. I also spoke to someone who took my call and said it was unusual for it to take this long. She said she was going to send "Dan" an email to see what the issue was. Still nothing. What a disappointment! In July 2019 I contracted with the company to repair a deteriorated cement chimney crown and do additional minor roof work. There was a delay in scheduling the work. I was notified there was a mix-up in scheduling due to similarity of names of another individual which seemed odd but so be it. Finally, after a few calls, I received a response indicating the work would begin the next day, One individual did arrive the following day, who was onsite about 1 1/2 hours and left. He came back the following 2-3 days with the same work pattern. Little time spent and he left. On what he advised was the final workday for job completion he brought his wife/girlfriend with him who was actually on the roof to help him. I was dismayed but believing it was cleared with management at Ray St. Clair did not object. As they were preparing to leave my premises, I checked the work and found that they had not painted the roof valleys which was pointed out to them. For brevity purposes, I won't elaborate in expansive details but potential customers should be aware of the poor quality of workmanship on the cement crown. I contacted St Clair's quality service team shortly after job completion and an individual came out to inspect. He indicated the work was acceptable. Enough said in that regard. Now, the cement is rough and choppy looking from the deck below and the so-called crown coat water-proofing material that was applied has now bubbled and partially flaked off. In fact, a huge chunk last week was hanging down the side of our chimney. We had to climb a ladder to remove it from blowing in the wind as well as additional pieces that were loose. Needless to say, poor workmanship! So, be aware of who will be doing your work from Ray St. Clair and watch the quality! read more

They called me within 2 days to schedule the appointment. The day prior to the appointment they called me to confirm. They were 10 minutes early which I never expect that. They brought samples with them and spend the time to go over the entire inside and outside of home with us. We received an estimate in 2 days which he told me he would. They reached out to me 2 days later to see if I had any questions. We signed the contract. They told us when the windows would be in and they came in when they estimated. We had used Ray St. Clair in the past and had a great experience. This last time not so much. We had a ridge shingle fall off and needed repair. They said they couldn't repair it but would come and put a tarp over the peak. Five hundred dollars later - plus it took them double the time to put the tarp up versus repairing the 1 piece that was missing. Oh and to do to the total repair by another company was $150. Not sure how it can be done better, from start to finish! The customer service and communication throughout the entire process was the best I've ever experienced. I've used Ray St. Clair at least a half-dozen times on my own home and on a rental residence which I own. The work has been superior and attention to detail is the best I've seen. They should start an off-shoot business of teaching other businesses how to handle customer service. They even answer their own phone! Shocking! I've never once had a phone call to them answered by some moronic answering machine which states "your call is important to us" (but not enough to answer your call). During a couple of storms, a piece of vinyl flashing blew off our porch roof so we called a roofer my husband had found on the internet. After re installing it, he said that our siding was aluminum. We were shocked as we had been told they were installing vinyl. I didn't want aluminum but here we are, years later, stuck with whatever cheap product they decided to install, knowing that we wouldn't be any wiser. We've had 2 roofers subsequently walk across the main house roof and tell me that it felt spongy - one said that RSC hates fixing underlayment so they don't mention it. We will never go with the 1st estimate again and definitely will NOT use this firm again. read more

All I needed is a new rain cover/flange for a vent above the 2nd floor dormer on my cape cod. Takes them 3 weeks to send out somebody. I get a $2k estimate - says he needs to completely redo the roof on that whole section. I've since called another roofer - they were able to send someone over within 2 days of calling, and have given me a $550 quote. I get the impression that this job was too small for them. I wish they would have been honest and just told me that up front without wasting my time. read more

Set up an appointment for an estimate three weeks in advance at the scheduler's request. When the day came and no one showed, I called the company. The let me know after putting me on hold twice that I didn't make an appointment. Rather than apologize, or even just to say "we don't show you on the calendar when can we send another person," they continued to let me know I didn't call. I had my gutters replaced by Ray St Clair at the beginning of 2022 and was surprised at how well it went after a bad experience with another roofing company. Josh Vose was kind, informative, communicative, and all of this before he had my business and after. Jason did a wonderful install almost completely by himself a couple weeks before their estimated window. They told me the possible pop-up problems before they started and even came one day when there was ice on the ground (I would have fully understood not wanting to get on a ladder that day) A couple months after the job I found a minor random issue at a corner which was my own fault for not having my holiday lights down, but Josh returned my call same day and had someone fix it within 2 days. I've had a lot of trouble with things like this since I bought my house in 2021 and am so happy to have something positive to say. Their price was the middle of the 3 I got, it was what I ended up paying, and it was absolutely worth it. I say a company that shows integrity in a market that doesn't necessitate chasing business is worthwhile. read more

I signed off on A project in February that included replacing the trim around the windows and front doors of my house. I told the sales person, Bob, that I didn't want any nails or seams showing. And I didn't want to do anything but hose the trim to clean. "No problem." Once done, the installation team said they can't do anything about the seams or nails showing. And they screwed up the door trim. I asked them to correct it, but they said Bob told them it wasn't part of the contract. They fixed it, but broke the trim in the process. Very noticeable right above the front door. Bob came out and agreed to replace the broken trim and paint the seams and nails. Two weeks later, I asked Bob about the trim. He forgot to order it. A month later, I called to ask about the trim. He forgot again. I called the owner and asked for someone else to complete the job. Sure thing. But he gave it back to Bob. It's now summer, and I had received two invoices payable immediately or else. I called accounts payable and told them Bob wasn't done with the job. Bob hadn't told them. And Bob also doesn't use the computer system at Ray St Clair to keep track of projects. A new person, Eric, took ownership of the project in early Fall. He called to tell me the new trim was in and they'd be out to fix it. But when they got to my house, they found Bob ordered the wrong trim. It was finally completed in October (8 months later on a 2 day max job). And I will have to paint the trim frequently because Bob didn't know that the trim would need maintenance. Bob needs to find a new job. Shame on Ray St Clair for not wanting to listen to my concerns. Refuse to deal with this type of service again. read more

We have known of this company for many years and felt there was no need to get another bid as they would be fair and provide excellent workmanship. Wrong. We had a leak around our chimney so had them tear off a 20 yr. old roof (2 layers) and replace it. What a surprise to see in less than a year the water coming in the same place. Their inspector came and told us that the cracks had not been included in the bid so they weren't fixed. It turns out that he had been the one who had done the original inspection and no one on the crew or the inspector bothered to mentioned that the chimney was cracked in numerous places because some people get upset when you tell them the original estimate didn't address it and it will cost more. They then gave us a very high estimate and offered to split it with me since the leaking had stopped for a short time. When I had another roofer give me an estimate, he said he could tell we had replaced a brown roof but had left about 25 sq. ft. of old roof on the back of the garage roof. It amounted to about one bundle of shingles (which they just happened to leave us). St. Clair said it was actually part of our sun room roof (which is white metal and about 5 yrs. old) and they had put that in the contract. I am totally disappointed and will pay the other roofer MUCH less to do a better job. I am terrified that the entire roof will blow off in the next storm. I am embarrassed to say that I had had so much confidence in this company's reputation that I had recommended them to our neighbor who promptly hired them. Never again. read more

He said he was just looking at numbers earlier in the day and waiting for pricing. 2 weeks later, I had to call again because of no contact. Dave said again that he was looking at my project again.
